LEGO 2015 holiday ornament revealed
Posted by HearItWow,The new LEGO Store Calendar for December includes an image of the 2015 Holiday ornament, and some news that might be disappointing.
As the offer states, only VIP members can get this year's ornament, between December the 7th and 15th. This means that, in the United States at least, we will not see a repeat of last year's VIP shopping event, where top customers at each LEGO Store got a private opportunity to shop and receive all of the 2014 Holiday promotional items.

I would not be at all surprised to see these ornaments made available to the general public after December the 15th on a first-come, first-served basis, unless LEGO has reduced production on these giveaways to try and meet consumer demand for sets.

Do we know if it stands for the UK as well? Or if there's a different offer?
With the '2015' printed tile, does this imply there will be a series of dated ornaments?
I'm not too impressed with the tree, as far as Lego Christmas trees go. But I am a sucker for dated Christmas ornaments, especially when they are part of an ongoing series.
I was unaware they had exclusive ornaments or that the top spenders had opportunity for an exclusive shopping event.
I almost want to pick one of these up and try to resell it on then. I don't normally do that, but if top spenders want to spend money, they can spend more.
As for how it looks, I'm pretty disappointed then. But then again I don't do LEGO ornaments.
This set is a follow up to 5002813, Christmas Train Ornament, from 2014, making it the second in a series.

During 2014, LEGO stores made these available to all customers who spent at least $50. That was done very quietly after the start of December. Given the timeline of this offer, it looks like the best chance to get one is to be a VIP.
I'd like the 2015 tile. Beyond that, it is not all that interesting to me.
@HearItWow I remember that now, although I did not get that set. Is it dated? It doesn't appear so in the Brickset images and parts inventory.
Funny, I seem to remember my Store owner last year just *giving* me the Train ornament. Maybe I spent $50 and I just don't remember it, but I do remember being shocked when she just handed me one. I'm semi-regular at the store, so who knows.
Based on the Christmas Store Calendar in Germany, this set will be available from 19 – 24.12 in Germany to the public for purchases over 30€. I assume the same will apply to the UK like many other promotions.
@woosterlegos There is a date on the 2014 ornament. It's the white tile on the very back of the train.
^^ yes its 19-24 Dec on the UK store calendar too with £25 purchase
Darn - if I'd known there was a date on the 2014 ornament I'd have been more excited about it last year :/
Last year the train ornament was given to VIP members who had received a postcard in the mail with no purchase necessary, at least in my area. The November store calendar seems to imply that there will still be a VIP-exclusive shopping event.
Meh... Lego belongs under the tree, I don't need any on it :-)
The last few weeks has seen EBay awash with last year's ornament.
Not for me, spending at least £25 for parts I already have (apart from the Dark Green 2x2 Round Brick, I think), isn't very tempting. Maybe I'll order the 2015 tile sometime.
The 2014 tile hasn't yet made it onto BL/BO.
Nice tile, but it's otherwise very bleh. I agree wholeheartedly, LEGO should not be ON the tree.
This ornament series will go on for about 5 years, then they will issue the train again. You know, for the ones who didn't get it the first time.
We have the Christmas tree promo here in Singapore TRU, spend S$120 (around US$85) between 1st to 31 Dec to get it free.
I don't have a problem with Lego on the tree. The beauty of Lego is that you can make it into whatever you want. Last year, I made a present-colored Micro Manager and had a screaming Emmet hanging onto it, and hung them on the tree. Also the tree is a great place to put the Star Wars planet balls.
It looks like for the first time ever I have something useful to contribute!
In Canada, I asked my local store about the VIP RSVP shopping event and the manager told me they are still holding an exclusive event for an hour on the morning of Nov 21, before stores open.
However, this year you have to buy something to get the free Gingerbread, Double Points and 2016 Calendar. He did not mention the ornament. Last year everything was given to us without purchase.
The other difference is that this year, all VIPs will be given the same freebies with purchase if they shop anytime that day, probably while supplies last. He also said, that a few items will be on sale for the morning event that will not be on sale once the store opens, but these will be the same items on sale on Black Friday.
As of last week, he had not received the invitee list yet. Hopefully someone else can verify all this but that's all the info I was given.
I like the Lego tree ornaments, especially the baubles.
I got an invitation to that event last year but was unable to attend for personal reasons.
Re the ornament, not sure that it's worth my cash just to get it, unlike 40138, which was worth it.
Will this set be available online at LEGO.com?
Now if only this came out the same day as the Dr. who set.
Last year they gave me a handful of these at my local store--four, I think--and I know I didn't spend more than $30. It was probably around the 18th or so, so maybe they were just trying to unload inventory.
While I am sure to get this one, I think it could have been designed better; the top looks clunky (nothing a little modding wouldn't fix). As long as it comes with the same fabulous cloth pouch packaging as last year's, though, then it's totally worth it.
Yo, we heard you like Christmas trees...
How does it work when the promotions overlap i.e. Calendar and gingerbread house overlap and you spend the $99 do you get both? This 2015 ornament will overlap too?
