More animated families to join LEGO Dimensions?

Posted by ,

LEGO Dimensions has already produced some unlikely properties in LEGO form, but Allen over at The Brick Fan has received evidence which hints at some of the most surprising yet.

If you have played the video game, you might have noticed a few places where the TARDIS can be used spread throughout the levels. Now that 71204 Level Pack: Doctor Who has been released, we can use the TARDIS to travel in time and by doing so you might find yourself deposited in a couple of familiar locations.

Bedrock from The Flintstones and the Little Dipper School from The Jetsons both make appearances, suggesting that characters from the respective series may soon be appearing in LEGO Dimensions. Like Scooby-Doo, the two shows were produced by Hanna-Barbera, so it is not beyond the realms of possibility for them to be joining the roster of LEGO Dimensions properties.

By in Belgium,

I would be happy to see those in LEGO form :) two top classic cartoon series for sure.

Flintstones would be great but as sets please, not just dimensions (only good if you want the game) packs.

Flintstones and Jetsons need to get in line, because I want more Who and Wizard of Oz before them!!

I want to see Futurama!!

Hmm, I'm not sure how that will go. Most of the audience for Dimensions probably hasn't heard of either...

Yabba-Dabba-Doo! I really hope so, they could have just made them as locations, as a fun nod to HB, but if we actually get to explore hub worlds of both and experience some Bedrock Bowling and Jetstreamer wacky hi-jinks with Judy that'd be stellar/cosmic.

Also I don't think kids are not going to know who these characters are, they do re-air them extensively and many of us older fans should be sharing them with our offspring to experience the joys of our youth over and over again.

This is amazing news. I love all Hanna barbera

I'm not sure how well The Flintstones would translate to Lego. By nature, all of the Flintstones' stuff--cars, houses, etc.--are crude and made of stone and wood. Lego is very geometric in nature and I'm having trouble imagining how you'd capture that.

Plus, how do you make Fred's car? The thing worked by the power of Fred's two feet, so you can't have him sitting in it with any kind of accuracy.

The Jetsons could work...but looking back, I can't understand why I watched either the Jetsons or the Flintstones. So much of the Hanna-Barbera stuff strikes me as just bad cartooning.

I love the Futurama idea, but only if they avoid those Simpson heads...

I'd love Lego Jetsons (or Futurama).

Those old H-B shows were basically sitcoms, and to me they've aged like many an old sitcom.

Lego Futurama... I can dream...

If Hanna-Barbera is getting more properties in Dimensions, then why not go full crossover and have Harvey Birdman show up in the game? But I don't think an Adult Swim property is appropriate for a kids game.

Oh and did anyone else notice a very specific mention in the 19th century part of the Doctor Who world? https://instagram.com/p/9o7mk0uFqt/

Hm...with all the H-B stuff, and considering that Wacky Races is apparently getting a reboot according to those new 2016 Sizzle videos, considering those are heavy with car-based stuff...that COULD lean towards another branch that LEGO could also bring into the series...

Though, good on H-B for trying to bring back in general some of their other franchises. I like Scooby Doo, but they seem a bit TOO dependent on it at times...

^The_Bod: They just referenced Sweeny Todd in a Lego game? That goes up there as one of the funniest Lego jokes then!

That would be nice. I really like seeing old properties like Scooby-Doo and potentially the Jetsons and Flintstones getting commemorated in LEGO. A lot of people grew up with them, or at least know of them.

Given the futuristic/prehistoric settings of the Jetsons and Flintstones, that could make for some fun microbuilds to go along with the minifigs. In fact, they could've made for good standalone themes. Who wouldn't want a few sets based on the Jetsons' 1960s version of the future? Or some Flintstones sets featuring lots of contraptions made of stones, logs and dinosaurs?

In the back to the future level(not the level pack) the original SHEILD Helicarrier crashed in the wild west, which was amazing because i would love some Marvel superheroes Dimensions packs.

^ That was actually the Valiant, a vessel from Doctor Who.

The question is would you actually want to buy these packs? They would probably be mostly team packs, and appeal to older audiences that would be much more familiar with them then kids right now would be.

@ResIpsaLoquitur, yuffie

Yeah, they haven't aged well, but they're still interesting cultural timepieces. I'm glad I watched them as a kid, just to expand my breadth of viewing if nothing else. Kids these days though have only more and more options, so I'm not sure how in demand they'd be over a modern production (I mean, Adventure Time passed to the Ideas review twice already). But hey, if Lego's got more properties to work with from Hanna Barberra, why not? I personally won't care, but I'm sure some fans will.

I just wonder if Fred Flintstone will come with a pack of Winston cigarettes ;)

I could go for Jetsons or Flintstones. Although Jetsons resemble friends bodies...drats.

I might actually consider getting this game now.

Thiose two make perfect sense. Long term IP, classic pop culture recognition, and owned by WB, who is Lego's partner in Dimensions.

Now if Lego was really on the ball they would throw in some of the more obscure WB stuff. Like Jabberjaw, Hong Kong Fuey or Blue Falcon and Dynomut.
