I hear mixed messages. Someone in my LUG called LEGO and they said they were definitely coming back, because of the license agreement (whatever that means).
Maybe they have to be for sale during the tournament?

Will the DFB Series be available in the US?

The Series is is only available in Europe.
But you can buy on BL.

BUM TRUMPETS! I still haven't gotten the DFB series minifigures i wanted! Im not going to pay $30 for one hairpiece I want!

Here's what I got told via email this morning (I filled in the store survey and asked about these before seeing the link above yesterday):

So most signs point to this being our lot. At least they were available outside of Germany for a little time, rather than not at all.

So where in Europe i can buy them? Are minifigurs just in offical LEGO shops or in other shops too?

Maybe someone needs this information: Müller store in Stuttgart near the Schlossplatz. Two boxes left. (At least as of last week. Might be gone now.) The official DfB children magazine here in Germany for children has one pack in it. Cost 4,99€ you get the minifig, a free Panini album (worth 2€), a pack of stickers (worth 0,70€) and a fancy bracelet (which is really cool).

And here I thought that these were not going to command the prices that the Team GB series does due to it being very specific. Yes Team GB has the logo but the 9 sports figures are still relevant to others than just the UK.

I'm glad I picked up a complete set but I figure I was paying to much. I had figured that during the run of the Euro that Lego would release more as fans probably may not have known about them before the tournament; and this of course would lead to a price drop.

This has to be the shortest run of a set in Lego History; does it even last a month?!?

At galeria-kaufhof online store they were available yesterday at a discount, for 2,60 Euro each.

Legoland Germany ist sold out, Legoshop online too. Some toy stores still have some remaining. Most of them have a max. limit of 15/Person.
It´s really sad...
Only ebay or bricklink. But prices are rising quickly!

Whenever they were available at a discount or in langer quantities they sold out almost immediately. With so many Lego and football fans in Germany, they were bound to sell out fast.

It means that LEGO signed a license contract with the owner of Deutsche National Football Team and the contract has a "end date".

Well I'm sure glad I wasn't at all interested in these but wow that sure was short lived.

I would imagine their extra short run would have been hastened by buyers from every other country trying to get their hands on stock from whatever EU sellers they could find. I should know, I was one of them!

I think Bricklink needs an article that analyses all the threads that have predicted that a set will be short lived and hard to get, and whether or not this was subsequently the case.

Dr Who and the ideas space mech both come to mind as sets that we were told would be hard to get and that ended up selling at a big discount further down the line!

I suppose just on the law of averages one of these scare stories will eventually be right!

Saw this on TheBrickFan yesterday and immediately went to eBay to pick some up before prices went up again. Managed to get six of my favorite players for just over $40. Not too bad considering most individual figures were selling for around $12 between the time they came out until now. Prices for Low and Neuer are still too high for me though.

Why does LEGO hate us so much? They should have at least sold them online to every country. I don't think I'm going to pay the crazy aftermarket prices on these.

Anyone know how many were made, and how it compares with other CMF production runs?

I'm glad I managed to get the three players I did (four if you count Khedira) in the short time they were available, but I do feel sad for the many who missed out.

Still, I bet we've just witnessed the trial run of a 3D version of the Panini phenomenon.

PS @ Peterb1602: €54 for Neuer on Ebay? There's loads on bricklink for a tenth of that!

Lego needs to produce another football team (hopefully soon). Otherwise, the germans would be playing balls with themselves.

@Space1979 I never would pay such a price for Neuer, it's just an example how stupid high the prices are on Ebay. I got mine for 6 euros. For the seven players I've bought, incl. Neuer and Low I've payed 40 euros. That's more than enough!

I ordered the bags I needed the last days of May. When the 40221 Fountain giveaway showed up on June 1st I could have kicked myself. Now I feel better again.

I was hoping they would stay around longer. I live in the US, but I was planning on visiting there this summer, and picking some up.

@MiniBear: you said you bought "a few boxes"??? How did you manage to do that? Over here, retailers don't sell whole boxes (especially not of limited products), neither does Lego themselves, at least not to ordinary customers. All this talk about people buying whole boxes. How on earth do they do that? I wanted to buy a box of CMF series 14 when they were around, not a chance (except from resellers on ebay, but where do they get them from?)

Most LEGO fans don't give a crap about football and even less about a very specific national team. I don't even know why LEGO bothered with this in the first place.
