Lego Canada currently lists the train as "Coming soon on null."

By in Denmark,

Ordered Death Star and got through to order process. Cannot find my order in the order status, nor received an email. Did have a printed receipt though.

By in New Zealand,

Holiday Train is GB£70 (=NZ$140) or US$100 (=NZ$140) ... but is actually priced for us at NZ$180???!!! So now we get a *30%* mark-up?! They're just taking the piss. Seriously, I'm sick of their constant price-gouging skullduggery that rips off markets like NZ in order to subsidise others, the US in particular. Raise the issue with TLG and all you get is a "copy & paste" insult of a reply. Absolutely shocking approach to customer service. I'm guessing that operation is masterminded by the same people behind their eternal fiasco of a website. Useless. Just insultingly useless.

By in Netherlands,

Same in The Netherlands. Price 105 euro instead of 90 euro in Europe.

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

I noticed it this morning too, 105€ in Belgium as well... Luckily it was coming soon on null.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Winter Holiday Train is "Coming soon on null" in the US as well.

Gravatar
By in Denmark,

My order just appeared, maybe the site is being very slow (or they fixed the issue).

Gravatar
By in United States,

Still showing as "Coming soon on null" here in the US.

Edit- Both the Death Star and Winter Train say this.

By in United States,

Now available in the US! When at the "New Exclusives" screen it says coming soon but when on the product info you can add it to your bag. I've already bought four haha.

By in United States,

it seems that if you try to checkout thru Paypal, it doesn't give you an error. I didn't hit place order, but those who are trying to buy it, I thought this could be useful.

By in United States,

I just ordered mine in the US with no problem. Not a Star Wars guy so I just got the Winter Train.

By in Finland,

€109 in Finland.

Death Star is €5 (FIVE) 99

By in New Zealand,

I just noticed that the price gouging on the Death Star isn't as bad as the Holiday Train - it's *only* 20%! Yep. For NZ they've completely ignored exchange rates or any sort of fair pricing policy and have kindly bumped up the price from $800 to $1000. That's it. I'm done.

By in Ireland,

I remember when the original (original original) Death Star became available to order, originally (I'll stop) the sterling price matched the Euro value, i.e. £279.99 and €279.99. I think it was a pricing error that was fixed the following morning, but LEGO gracefully honoured all orders for the initial €279.99 orders. Great company! :)

By in United Kingdom,

About the pricing, I found a sort of answer on StackExchange which boils down to "they include VAT in the listing price". Even after I did the calculations the NZ pricing is too high though, considering NZ VAT is only 15%. I'm always dodgy about any links in comments sections or forums, so I'll tell you that it's question 4429 on bricks(dot)stackexchange(dot)com, called "Why are Lego products so expensive in Europe?". It's a lot more helpful than I am.

Anyway, about the article. If I had to get one it would be the Holiday Train; it looks decent and the bench build is neat as well. Especially considering I haven't got any trains or Christmas sets in my collection yet I would take it. That being said, I also don't have a Death Star yet, but it's veee-ry much outside my price range.

By in New Zealand,

^ UK VAT 20%, NZ GST 15%. So yes, the difference in the *base* price - as set by TLG - is even more extreme. And *every* time I ask them why they have such wildly different pricing across the world, all I get is the same old, verbatim, copy and paste, stock, scripted, insultingly generic answer. (Yeah. I think I've sufficiently stressed how robotic their customer service is....)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Is the pricing differential in NZ not down to shipping costs?

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

^ Nope. Shipping is irrelevant. The base cost is inflated. If TLG are to be believed then we get "free" shipping for purchases over NZ$400, but since they've already inflated prices by more than the cost of shipping that's yet another lie that they're touting.

Sounds like a bit of a fiasco over on Lego Shop.com. Good thing I only use the site on May The 4th and maybe 1 other time a year! There is reasoning behind this though.

Long story short, I'm afraid TLG left multiple orders (including the original Death Star!) with Yodel the delivery 'company' and they kept trying to deliver to a BUSINESS address 3 or 4 times each at 8pm and said I wasn't there, threatening to return the order!

True story, I only just got my Death Star because I saw a Yodel van driving down my business' road later in the day, asked them about it and physically took the Death Star from the delivery van! The driver had essentially no excuse. But the experience leaves me paying for expensive special delivery or nothing, so I often just use shops now. It's not like I have a Lego Store anywhere nearby...

I don't honestly like saying these things about a shop for a brand I know and love, but this shopping platform and the process in general could be better.

By in Australia,

In Australia, the Death Star costs roughly $799.99! This is an absolutely absurd price, even for someone who loves both Lego and Star Wars!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I see in U.K. Lego LEGO.com they offer the DS and Final Duel bundled for just £439.99...
