April Fool's!
Posted by CapnRex101,Navigating the Internet on April Fool's Day is notoriously tricky and many LEGO websites like to join in with their own spurious news stories and announcements. You may have noticed two such dubious articles which we published yesterday:
- LEGO will not be producing Game of Thrones sets. It is difficult to imagine a less appropriate property for LEGO products, although many of the sets suggested sound very tempting. Apologies to any LEGO store staff who were inundated with customers wanting to buy them!
 - The existence of a new UCS Millennium Falcon has not yet been confirmed. One wonders whether it will be in the near future given the strength of the rumour.

Several other websites were busy yesterday:
- The Brothers Brick assessed the comparative value of LEGO and gold, disputing the commonly held opinion that LEGO is a better investment.
 - Brick Nerd announced 040117 The Destruction of Jedha, a 7332-piece UCS set to be released in May.
 - It was announced that The Brick Fan would be expanding to encompass coverage of Lepin products.
 - BricksFans revealed the Google Build Assistant, a replacement for LEGO's standard instruction manuals.
 - BrickFinder reported that the first Lepin Certified Store would be opening in Beijing.
 - Jay's Brick Blog published a press release documenting LEGO's acquisition of Lepin.

Let us know if we have missed any in the comments.

LEGO Reddit also had a sticky post saying Lepin was no longer a banned subject - "cause really, who can tell the difference"
And kudos for updating the post titles promptly, with time zones all over and social sharing, April fools is almost a three day global event of confusion
Seems Lepin was the butt of many jokes this year!
The more I think about a Game of Thrones line, the more I think I'd probably buy a few of those.
Not all jokes are very original - Brick Nerds joke has been around for some time now on the web, since some of the more lacklustre UCS sets of late...
Lepin jokes are a sure fire way to fire up some discussion from those that are a bit less mindful of the date. I like the The Brick Fan one the best, because of the understated tone of the message. Would maybe had worked even better if it was announced a week ago, maybe even posting a mock review after that. Now the joke was out within a few reactions (where have the days gone where people that realise it's an April Fools joke just keep their mouth shut so as not to spoil it?)...
The GoT joke was cruel... As a HUGA fan of Castle Themes and GoT, I was fooled for some seconds and my heart started to beat so fast... cruel...
Sorry for any distress caused!
So is set 40256 Create the World under the city theme for real then?
It was a good laugh however the stories.
The biggest joke is that this means the May the 4th R2-D2 promotion is real.
Bricks To Life announced that Tt Games would be releasing LEGO Deadpool, Flinstones, and Twilight Saga video games.
Well I definitely could pick some of them, a 7332-piece set would be too heavy to lift!
Someone should have said that"lepin star wnrs" was getting a set that isn't a copy of a Lego set
These guys announced a Star Wars expansion for Dimensions with U-3PO, a GNK droid, and a moisture vapirator. https://popcultureuncovered.com/2017/04/01/warner-bros-interactive-entertainment-tt-games-and-the-lego-group-announce-long-awaited-star-wars-expansion-for-lego-dimensions/
Was the Lego Batman Movie Joker Poster promo a joke too? I feel like it was but honestly couldn't tell lol
I like how almost all the jokes had to do with either Lepin or the next UCS set. I made a fake plot for the ninjago movie and edited it to look like it was on rotten tomatoes and posted it on my youtube. My plot was actually pretty good, and it explained why the ninja look different and who the sharks are.
On my most wanted sets, GOT sets are in my top 5. Sadly given the very adults only nature of the show I can not imagine Lego getting the licence anytime soon.
Wasn't there a Club Penguin one too or did I imagine that?
^Brickset member TheBrickPal briefly had an article about Lego Club Penguin Island sets being made yesterday. The artcior started with "this news seems to have been overshadowed by the emails reporting Lego will be producing Game of Thrones sets."
The new UCS MF, pricing was scary, scary in that given the pricing of the new Death Star it may not be that far of.
Its original price of £ 342.49, based on inflation since 2007 is now about £ 440.
Give that the latest Death Star (75159) is about £70 more that than the inflated price 10188, then I can the new MF being about £ 520
Enough with the April Fools stuff. It's just corny and cringe worthy. No one ever falls for anything and it's just a bunch of rubbish that isn't very original nor fun.
The correct spelling is "April Fools'" (Apostrophe after the "s")
@Aegis2000 I've been reduced to a member here? Okay. XD
But in all seriousness, we pulled that article because we felt it was too believable and actually is too plausible, and we didn't want LEGO to get any wrong idea and receive any unwanted attention from it.
You can still find it here, repurposed for my own site: https://clubpenguinislander.com/2017/04/01/lego-to-produce-club-penguin-island-sets/ :-)
I just straight up didn't bother to check Brickset yesterday. Sorry guys, but I knew there wouldn't be any serious news so I just took a one day hiatus (having said that, the train point system Kickstarter and R2D2 announcements were relayed to me by a friend! So I guess some other non-fake news 'was' mixed in after all)
The Google instruction manual ploy is probably the most believable, most other approaches a little obvious or stale, judging by this review piece. However, I suppose it has spurred on some conversation about the atrocity of 'the pin', which is always good!
Ironically, all the fake news on Lepin actually helped to generate publicity for the copycat brand. I'm sure now even more people are aware of the alternate brand and wanted to find out more about it.
So I think this ended up as a plus one for Lepin, obviously inadvertently helped by all the loyal and diehard Lego fan sites.
A Wayne Manor set popped up on Reddit yesterday, too. As much as I'd love one of those, I'm afraid that's probably and April Fools gag, too.
Ahahaha! You did it again, CapnRex!
Not to mention, Google put LEGO versions of The Beatles crossing a road in Google Maps (I guess the link's too long, so you have to copy-past the whole thing): https://www.google.co.uk/maps/contrib/113235506292553817060/photos/ @51.5320629,-0.1773011,3a,75y,90t/data= !3m8!1e1!3m6!1s-dIvh4PuFovQ%2FWOC9YO15Z2I%2FAAAAAAAAE4c%2FJ2v0_-ZBhicTRKRXjMp9sJS_gGD2Waq_QCLIB!2e4!3e11!6s%2F%2Flh4.googleusercontent.com%2F-dIvh4PuFovQ%2FWOC9YO15Z2I%2FAAAAAAAAE4c%2FJ2v0_-ZBhicTRKRXjMp9sJS_gGD2Waq_QCLIB%2Fw203-h100-p-k-no%2F!7i7200!8i3600!4m3!8m2!3m1!1e1?hl=en
The laughs were good tho.
Hey,
Classic-Castle.com changed themes for the day.
http://classic-castle.com/fools17spacey.html
The April Fools articles were great, even though they were so fake our president is now tweeting about them as facts he read from Breitbart.
Nothing about that new theme that i belive to be a april 1. joke on the Nexo Knight.
Was Castle and Power Ranger theme.
So the r2d2 is real?
^ the May the 4th polybag set, yes it is
