[UK/EU] Star Wars 40% discounts
Posted by Huw,
So, the plan was that in the run-up to the May the Fourth promotion LEGO was going to reveal the sets that'll be 40% off during the period, one set at a time, at shop.LEGO.com. We were told the list in advance but asked to play along with LEGO's marketing plans.
However, due to consistent naming of images on LEGO's server other sites soon found out how to determine the whole list.
So far three sets have been officially revealed:
- On April 29 75149 Resistance X-wing Fighter will be 40% off
- On April 30 75523 Scarif Stormtrooper will be 40% off
- On May 6 75171 Battle on Scarif will be 40% off
If you want to see the entire list you'll find it after the break.
- April 29, 75149 Resistance X-wing Fighter
- April 30, 75523 Scarif Stormtrooper
- May 1, 75153 AT-ST Walker
- May 2, 75164 Rebel Trooper Battle Pack
- May 3, 75173 Luke's Landspeeder
- May 4, 75105 Millennium Falcon
- May 5, 75120 K-2SO
- May 6, 75171 Battle on Scarif

Can we assume they have "plenty" of R2-D2's to give away.... as I have got most of Star Wars sets now.... i might get the battle of scarif as its possibly worth it at 40% off....... can i wait until 6th ???????
The email I got from Lego indicates that the set discounted on 29th April is 75149 Resistance X-Wing Fighter - has the set list changed, as I was quite looking forward to getting this set discounted.
@eureka1947, if I look at the list it is only the 29th April that Huw posted that does not tie up with other LEGO forum's lists. Plus 75140 Resistance Troop Transporter was in the January/Feb sale at 50% off.
Huw please check the 29th April set as I also think it is 75149 Resistance X-Wing Fighter
Sorry, my typo. Corrected.
@Huw: Interesting, we didn't get any list in advance. Every 40% off set was available through the web browser, just change a digit in the shop link. No hack, no leak, that's it.
Will these be the only specific discounts for sets, with other Star Wars set being subject to a general discount (I believe 10%)? Or will there be other specific discounts too, just not as high as 40% (eg. maybe some set will be 20% off)?
I've been looking to finally get the Slave I for a little while now, and figured waiting for this year's May 4th promotion would be a good opportunity, but I have a feeling I won't see more than a 10% discount on that. Oh well, still better than full price. :)
^^ OK, fair enough, in that case my apologies and well spotted!
Funnily, target australia have 50% off the Assault of Hoth (75098) and Batman Classic TV series - Batcave (76052) recently to clear shelving for incoming newer items. Discounted price was $200 AUD respectively which was a steal for many fans. Apart from the bonus polybags that goes with the purchases, it will hard to beat that.
Scarif stormtrooper is currently a third off in the UK - and with triple VIP points. So purchasing this during May 4th week with single VIP points essentially saves you a solid 5p!
Definitely buying the AT-ST! But why discount the REBEL trooper battle pack? Doesn't everyone one the other one?
It's almost painful looking at this list... The only sets on it that I'm not interested in getting are Luke's Landspeeder and K-2SO.
Disappointed but not surprised that neither The Phantom (75170) or A-Wing (75175) was on this list.
` @yjcha2 as much as I despise Assault of Hoth (75098) at 50% I would have been very very tempted
So, with the 40% off does the discounted price or the regular price count towards the May 4th $50 for R2-D2 promotion?
Brainslugged - how do you mean "with tripple VIP points"? I was under impression that this promotion ends tomorrow by stroke of a midnight - in entire Europe.
Are these sales in the USA too?
Any word yet on what the sale items will be for North America?
I just got some sets from lego store and I got this star wars thing that says through may 4th-7th select star wars items are on sale. Does that mean items like the At-St walker (75153), Luke's landspeeder (75173), and Rebel Trooper Battle Pack (75164) are still 40% off until the 7th?
FlyRobinFly03 - in our regional, localized EU version of Lego LEGO.com its quite clear: "on each date you will get 40 % off on a SPECIFIC set that day." So my understanding is that the discount is valid truly only for a single day.
- I see it as LEGO trying new and various sales formats.. if this one succeeds we will probably see more of similiar "damned action sales" in the future
