10258 London Bus was revealed yesterday as the latest addition to the Creator Expert range and a launch event took place in central London this morning. Representatives from Brickset, Brick Fanatics and BricksFanz were invited to attend and to interview members of the Creator Expert design team.

I arrived a little after 9:00am to find a classic Routemaster bus parked in Leicester Square and decorated with advertisements for the Leicester Square LEGO Store, located just metres away. The bus remains relatively intact since entering service in 1959 and is now in use for events such as the product launch today.

Creator Expert designers Morten Graff-Wang and Jamie Berard arrived a short time later and climbed aboard the bus for a live interview shown on LEGO’s official Facebook page, but not before stopping for a quick photo with Lester outside!

The Facebook Live interview took place on the top deck where a few rows of seats had been removed from the front to make room for a table. It was a tight squeeze with staff from LEGO, Norton PR and three fan media websites onboard but was a great experience, particularly as we saw some of the production involved in filming such an unusually situated event! You can watch the full interview on Facebook.

It was then time to conduct a separate interview with Morten and Jamie on behalf of Brickset. We discussed many interesting topics, ranging from the design of 10258 London Bus to the planning process and ethos behind the entire Creator Expert range. I look forward to sharing that within the next couple of days.

Meanwhile, Bright Bricks organised the assembly of a large London bus mosaic. Members of the public can construct their own section which is then placed on a large display board, contributing to the eventual creation of an impressive mosaic image placed right beside the real thing.

Finally, I headed for the Leicester Square LEGO Store to purchase 10258 London Bus. The set is currently available at five LEGO stores in the Greater London area (Bluewater, Leicester Square, Watford, Westfield Shepherd’s Bush and Westfield Stratford) but will be released to all VIP members worldwide on the 17th of July. We will soon be publishing our review of 10258 London Bus, pictured here on the rear platform of the Routemaster, so keep an eye on the homepage!

Many thanks to LEGO and to Norton PR for arranging this excellent event.

Great! Now I've got a great sense of scale! Wow, it's small! If I get this I cannot display it next to my f40.

By in Venezuela,

So, can any of you confirm my theory that Europe gets all the cool LEGO things?

I guess I missed where this event was announced. I was in London yesterday :-O

By in United Kingdom,

I see it's not modelled at the same scale as the other expert creator sets. Looks good though

I went there yesterday evening and it was a great atmosphere! The festivities were not going on anymore, but the store was still lively and the people were so friendly! Great way to spend my first night in London!

@meccanotwitch Not sure what you mean, as the other Creator Expert sets are not to scale with each other either. The MINI Cooper is far too large, and Volkswagen T1 far too small. For the most part, they are scaled to be the same size as each other, or to fit in the $100-$120 range. But perhaps above all, to scale with the wheels LEGO has available.

Looks like it was a really fun event! Not gonna lie, super jealous that attendees got that awesome looking London Bus "driving licence"! Can't wait to pick up this set when it comes stateside.
