LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures

LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures

©2008 LEGO Group

Earlier in the year we heard a rumour that another installment in the LEGO Indiana Jones game franchise was in development. Last friday this was confirmed by the developers - "LEGO Indiana Jones 2 : The Adventure Continues" will be available in the Autumn/Fall, for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PSP, Wii, DS, and PC. It will cover all four of the IJ films.

Today we heard that the other, altogether more bizarre, part of the rumour, that a LEGO Harry Potter game was also in development, is also true - "LEGO Harry Potter - Years 1-4" will be released sometime in 2010. This would strike me as very odd, as there haven't been any HP sets in quite a while now, except that the LEGO Batman game was released just as sets were disappearing from the shelves, and that didn't seem to affect sales of the game, or people's enjoyment of it !

Make sure you check out the 'teaser trailer' for LHP:1-4 !

By in Canada,

SWEET! A new indy game, awesome!

Gravatar
By in United States,

NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! Why can't LIJ 2 be for the PS2?!?!?!?! NOOOOOO!!!!!

P.S. Can't wait for the LHP game. I hope it's out for the PS2.

Gravatar
By in United States,

So.... make a new Indy game now.... When they're still 100% sure they're done with the movies...... makes a lot of sense.....

@jonbuddy: sorry... I don't think it will be...... :(

Gravatar
By in United States,

AAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(awesome)
This is great, I can't wait for the games. I hope they have extra levels for crystal skull because of all the different sets. I hope the Harry Potter game has a feature for the wii where you can use the wiimote as a wand.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@jonbuddy: They won't make it for PS2, because most people have already switched to the PS3, and since that's the most dominant of the two, they'll just make it for PS3, because that is going to sell more then PS2.

I'm really excited about the IJ2, I'll probably get it for Wii or PC.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm speechless...... The Lego Indy game has a level creator!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gravatar
By in Norway,

I've thought about a LHP game in the past, but I had kind of forgotten about the idea because they dont make Harry Potter lego anymore.

A level creator for LIJ2 sounds awesome, but it does'nt weigh up for Kingdom of the crystal skull levels... That movie was terrible!

Gravatar
By in United States,

This sounds awesome. I can't wait to see the HP game. I have been quite impressed with the previous games and will probably be buying both games. Good thing I never bought the old IJ game.

@SapmiSatan the video game has actually been better than the movie in the previous games

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hmm... I thought that LEGO had lost the Harry Potter license! This is very unexpected. It almost makes me wonder if they'll come out with sets for the last three movies. (yes, three.)

Gravatar
By in United States,

And were, may I ask, is GameCube? I wish people didn't stop producing GameCube games. It's an ok system to play with, and not everyone has enough allowance to get an Xbox or a PS3.
I also hope they come out with another BIONICLE Heroes-like game. Not that I'll be able to play it with my "old" GameCube. :-(

By in United States,

YAY!!! LEGO HARRY POTTER GAMES!!! YAHOO!!! sorry. I am just SO EXCITED!

Gravatar
By in United States,

LEGO HARRY POTTER!!! Awesome. Just awesome. Btw Bluemoose, they may relaunch the HP LEGOs for a surprise this holiday season for movie 6 to get the game going.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Greyface- I hope they really do that.

I will buy the game when it comes out.

The should make some more HP sets.

Gravatar
By in Denmark,

Wow indeed. There are still three movies to go which makes it seem possible for more HP Lego sets. (They are splitting the 7th book into two movies)

I would spring for those sets!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Cool! Both of those games sound like a keeper! I thought it was inevitable that Lego would make a video game of Lego Star Wars: The Clone Wars with the movie and all the episodes in season 1. I guess I was wrong, but I would go nuts if they still would make a game of that!

Re: Lego Indy 2:
"The title will introduce the ability for players to make their own environments..."
I really like the sound of that! :D

Gravatar
By in United States,

I am very glad they decided to continue the Lego Indy games, especially with the new characters and levels from Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Although, it seems that they're in the works for an Indy 5; Harrison Ford agreed to do another film, and they're playing with ideas, so maybe this won't be the last game. Who knows?

I wonder if there will be a level centered around the Peril in Peru set, or if the plane and stuff will be incorporated. There is going to be what seems like additional levels from the old movies, but how many levels for KOTCS? I wonder if there'll be more than 6, because it seems like the movie had way more than 6 parts that could be made into levels this time. Can't wait!

@Clone Commander Trainrex: The game, it seems, sounds like there's only additional levels from the past 3 movies, not the old game plus one more movie. So you might want to grab the old game, too. Someone correct me if I'm wrong....

@ShatteredGnome7675
Six levels per chapter seemes to be the standard for Lego games, so I suspect that's what they'll use.

@jonbuddy
The PS2 is no longer a "current generation" system. It is officially obsolete as of the release of the PS3.

@BionicleBOOM
See my above comment about the PS2. But replace "PS2" with "GameCube", and "PS3" with "Wii".

Gravatar
By in United States,

I was actually hoping they would make a game that was Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, plus Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Wouldn't it be cool to have a hub that has a door you can switch between, like a Venator hanger, and Barnett College or Indy's house or something, and then have all the characters together? Lego could even work with Lucasarts to help create new missions or battle levels for the game, so it wasn't just a show/movie repeat. That would be a great game.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I noticed that LHP has better graphics than previous Lego games.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@ merkinized
really, I can't honestly see any difference in the graphics. Although I can see why there should be better graphics.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

yepie awseome but TT games should make an star wars the clone wars game to cover the upcoming rebublic heroes game

Gravatar
By in United States,

Harry Potter sets don't sell, so LEGO stopped making them. However LEGO video games sell REALLY well.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I glad about this, but unhappy that it not going to on the ps2 :(

but i'm probaly getting a ps3 for x-mas :)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I hope harry potter movie 6 will be out soon because if it is, then there could be a chance of (a) new set(s) coming. although a lego harry potter game would be nice

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

yay lego indiana jones 2 will have all 4 movies im getting the xbox 360 version so more achievments

Gravatar
By in United States,

by the way. the baby lego harry potters expresssion is a little off. LOL but its so funny

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I always wondered when a lego harry potter game would be made

Gravatar
By in United States,

To mr. F
The Game cube is (unfortunatly) dead yes but you are wrong on the fact that thwe PS2 is obsolete. The PS2 is as healty as ever. They probobly are not realeasing it for PS2 because they want to charge more for an awesome game to be. The PS2 also does not have the online capabilites and all the other functions of the PS3 so one might think that the game has online capabilites to maybe share the created levels. This cannot be done on the PS2. So in short: the PS2 is not dead (yet).

To BionicleBoom: I to am sad because of the unfortunae loss of the GameCube. I wish that they still made games for it to this very day. I am glad that the Wii plays the games but it is just not the same. You can no longer walk into a store and look at all of the new GC realeses. You may find a few of them but they are all cheap or on sale. it nolonger has a whole wall at gamestop and nobody may post on the meassege boards on Gamefaqs, SIGH, but I guess we will just have to make do with what we have and play the wii.

(I dedicate this meassege to the late great GameCube)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Looks like I will have to get indiana jones 2 on wii

Steve Witt, one of LEGO's community liaison folk, said back in December 2008 - " ... Harry Potter LEGO ... we're not going to be releasing any more sets ... I don't know if the license ran out. I just know that as far as the new movies go, there was nothing that stands out as a LEGO set ... for new sets there has to be some action or vehicles, and Harry Potter doesn't really lend itself to that ... the new movies are darker and aren't in our target age range ... "

Check out the audio interview here ...

... fast forward to ~00:21:40.

If you haven't listened to the whole interview, I'd recommend it - it's interesting.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

No more harry potter lego sets going to be released? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Indiana Jones 2 could be good if they add in lots of changes. The level creator is the most appealing part to me- if they do it right...

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I knew about both of these for a long time now. The Lego Indy Wiki has been expecting two more Indy games- one with the 4th movie and a young indy game. I just hope this second one works better on my comp then the first. The level creater really stands out I find- the last time something like THAT was done was Halo...

Gravatar
By in Canada,

@legoguysw
If you read the press release, you'll notice that at at one point it mentions new levels for the first three movies. I think that somewhat constitutes "lots of changes".

Gravatar
By in United States,

Harry Potter? Indy 2? Whats this? IS LEGO running out of cool LEGO games? Well Indy 2 sounds cool but why play all 4 levels ALL over again they can come up with their own adventure like in Batman. Harry Potter, never reallya fan. LEGO SPACE POLICE!!!!! WHEN?????

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Space police: Probably in September or October.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Maybe indiana jones 2 will have extra levels in rla/tod/tlc like star wars the complete saga had

Gravatar
By in United States,

What? Is this a rumor?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I hope these games exist

Gravatar
By in Canada,

@legofanatic2414
As I said before, we apparently won't have to "play all 4 levels ALL over again". The press release did mention new nevels for the first three movies. We WILL have variety. Calm down, dude. All is well.

@Greyface, Zwing
Yes, these games DO exist. If you don't believe me, check out the Indy 2 boxart or the HP teaser trailer.

Gravatar
By in United States,

sure helped me out when LEGO Batman was made, got LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga new for $20 so I can't complain about the new games! Despite the fact that these are all good games, they all seem to be the same which can be a good thing, but they all tend to seem the same after a while, which was why I just stuck with LEGO Star Wars.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Thanks Mr. F, I cannot wait for both these games!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Lego might do a spiderman game because they have done a star wars, indiana jones, batman and now a harry potter game

Gravatar
By in Germany,

@Zwing: I think LEGO won't release a Spiderman video game; the licence is long gone...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I didn't think they would. but who needs a spiderman game when you can have indiana jones 2 and harry potter games!

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Alemas - how does a license become "gone"? Besides, if LEGO really wanted the license back they could just go negotiate another.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I really don't want another HP. They already failed at years 1-4, so why would they continue?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I do not know which is better- indiana jones 2 or harry potter

Gravatar
By in United States,

@nath8888 - they didn't fail in my opinion. The sets were small, but excellent for the time. Frankly, Indy 2 sounds boring. So what - 6 more levels? LEGO HP looks fun.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@Greyface - I also think hp didn't fail. A lego hp game would be fun.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Very cool indeed.

I've been expecting a Lego Harry Potter Game for a while now. It seemed like the next logical Lego series to get a video game. With the last HP movies coming out next year the timing should be just right for it to do well.

I'm also glad that all 4 indy jones movies will be bundled in the new game. Hopefully the first three movies will get a make over as well. Any additional features would be welcome as well, the last game seemed very skeletal where that was concerned.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I was hoping for a harry potter game for a long time and now its here!!! :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

They both are available for preorder on amazon.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I am not really suprised about indy 2 coming out because the reviews at lego shop UK said they wanted to play kcs levels
