New parts for 2018!
Posted by CapnRex101,
With a fresh wave of sets comes an array of new elements to entice LEGO fans. Some are rather specialised and have limited uses while others are more versatile, with numerous possible applications in your own creations.
Images of most 2018 sets are now available in the database, ready to be examined for brand new parts as well as existing parts in interesting new colours. We have been able to find a total of 51 such pieces so far and you can view them all after the break. This article will be updated should we come across any more.

- 1. This flame yellowish orange beehive can fit over a minifigure's head.
- 2. A new bullbar element.

- 9. An angular chest armour component worn by all of the knights in 2018.
Technic:
- 1. A unique bulldog-shaped mascot adorns the bonnet of 42078 Mack Anthem.
There are also some new parts in the NINJAGO and The LEGO Batman Movie sets but the quality of the images we have at the moment is not sufficiently clear to distinguish every brand new piece.
Let us know if you think we have missed any in the comments. Which pieces are you most excited about?

You missed the new archway in the Disney sets. It comes in three colors in the new line.
Most interesting to me is the beehive, curved 1x2 plate with hollow studs, and the flower with 5 petals.
2. Krypto wears a new cape but shares his head and body with Scooby-Doo.
I'm pretty sure that they are new not scooby doo as there is a bar holder paw, 2d diamond shape (irregular pentagon) collar tag and a more angular head.
Also you appear to have missed the TLBM sets that have Rasta bat cowl, and egghead's egghead and possibly more.
That Resistance pilot with the new brown piece is going to become my new sign fig ;)
I spotted a new Skunk animal in new Police set 60176 Wild River Escape.
There's a new recolored calico cat in friends.
The gold bulldog figure head on the Technic 42078 Mack Anthem.

Since you're mentioning significant recolors, might be worth mentioning that the Frozen set has the first officially released pictures of the return of Bright Bluish Green/Dark Turquoise/Teal parts! As a much demanded color it's a pleasant surprise to see it return!
Snap Wexley, that is indeed a suprise for Afthermath readers, Luke seems to have lost his lightsaber.
I can see some great use cases for the 'curved 1x2 plate with two hollow studs' and the '4x4 plate with a curved cutout'. Especially the latter one, I'd like to have lots of it.
man, do I love new pieces and parts!
Thanks for the suggestions folks, the article has been updated accordingly.
@AgentKallus - We have intentionally omitted The LEGO Batman Movie sets for now as the images we have are not very large so it is not possible to distinguish every new piece.
Awesome article. A couple of really interesting pieces here. I love the tree disguise, I may have to get this set just for that alone. There still some basic elements I want to see. In particular 33 conclave slopes still have a limited color range.
Really like Luke Skywalker’s new hair. Hey it doesn’t have to look grey! ;)
I am SO hype for the beehive, and now reading that it fits over the minifigures heads makes that small police set a must buy for me!
Great article. One thing that disappoints me is that the old four-petal flower (Clikits bracelet connector) is nowhere to be seen. I like the new five-petal piece, but it doesn't look as if it'll be quite as useful for mechanical detail (in proper colors, of course) as the old version. Oh well, at least we got the old version in light bluish gray last year.
Woah, woah, woah... TEAL is back?!?!?!?
TEEEEEAAAAALL I'm so excited! I never thought they'd bring it back (though I was curious when they introduced a couple new cloth elements in that color last year).
Some of these parts look a little superfluous, but someone will find a creative use for them so it’s fine. That pearl grey nexo knights chest armor will be perfect for some steampunk figs!
I like the new beehive element though I'm not sure it actually fits over the head. From the pictures I've seen it looks like you would have to remove the head and place it over the "neck" peg. Either way it will be a fun, new piece.
This pic indicates that it does fit over: https://i0.wp.com/bricksfanz.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/37658529795_50debd8e6c_o.png?w=640
There is another piece in the set https://brickset.com/sets/75200-1/Ahch-To-Island-Training
I think I've found a new slope 2 x 3 x 2 LBG in the roof part ...
And still the life jacket is a mess!
Cool!
Excellent idea to include pictures of the sets, with the new pieces arrowed. Much the easiest way to see them in use.
Do we know what the hell the 1x2 curved plate thing (6 in DC Super Heroes) is for yet? Why is it on the ground along with the stud shooter ammo?
^ I'm thinking the same thing.
Really useful article! Thank you, CapnRex. It helps a lot in planning the parts I intend to get in 2018.
One part I won't be looking for is the puma/mountain lion... I already have one! See http://bricksetforum.com/discussion/comment/548673/Comment_548673 . And yes, it really is LEGO, not some clone or bootleg.
what about the round brown 2x2 tile in the first picture , on the log with the girl on top , is it a new one or have i missed to see it earlier
Does beehive means that Winnie the Pooh sets are coming?
I think the long straight track piece are actually two shorter ones?
I'm most curious about the new leaf piece (Friends) and the rounded plate 1x2 with hollow studs. Beside those there are two recolors that I really look forward to: 25269 tile rounded 1x1 quarter and 26047 plate 1x1 rounded with handle, both in reddish brown. (Tile in aquaman brickhead, plate in Friends Mia' s bedroom).
The cap isn't the only headgear to include a ponytail. It seems that Emma's helmet has one too (see her Art Stand).
60173 Mountain Arrest includes a new brown “combed back” hair piece which is actually the same piece as Neuro’s hair in the Ninjago tv show, albeit single-molded and in brown. The real-life minifgure from the bricktober packhas a different hairpiece.
@Lyd & Lost Records - That printed tile was introduced in 10738 Snow White's Forest Cottage.
@Reinier - Perhaps, although there is no dividing line visible in the set image. Of course, it may just be difficult to see so we won't know for sure until the set is released.
@koffiemoc - I also thought Emma's helmet was new initially but it actually appeared in a couple of the Snow Resort sets released in the summer.
@Brickmaster58 - I believe that is an existing hair piece, 95226, which has been used in a few Disney Princess and Pirates of the Caribbean sets. It is difficult to see the ponytail in the images we have so far but the texture on the front looks familiar.

Ha, looks new indeed, but it's just regular old https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=30180
@benredstar @Masman8675
The new rounded 1x2 with holes in the Super Heroes sets are used to attach the decorative pieces to the bottoms of legs for a flying pose, I believe
I believe that the big Power Miners wheels on the Twinfector are a new recolor in pearl dark grey.
Methinks somebody is owed an apology! It turns out Mark Stafford didn't kill teal. Mark Stafford simply put teal into a long-lasting coma :)
Isn't the pointy-but-smooth piece on the business end of the City Mining Power Splitter a new piece? Or ingenious use of a minifig tool?
Is the part used in the log to seat figs new? it looks like a combination of a 2x1 with 2 studs and one of those 2x2s with ridges on each side, maybe even with a rounded bottom.
^ I believe it is just a brick, modified, 1x2, log, 30136 on the bottom, and a 2x1 brick with 2 studs on one side on the top.
WHEW! Glad I didn't buy a leopard to brasso as my own mountain lion..!
Is that a new apple (with a stud?) in 10402?
If they were going to bring back teal why didn't they do so for the Speed Champions Mercedes AMG F1 set instead of using green???
So if teal is coming back, does that mean a different color is being retired? I thought I had heard LEGO had set a fixed number of colors they would produce at a given time.
Looks to be a 2x2 plate w/half bow introduced, too. The A-Wing vs. Tie Silencer microfighters show it reinforcing the wing-capsule connection points of the Silencer!

Oh, just remembered a few more new parts from the Ninjago theme!
70633 through 70637 have new "wheel"-style spinner rims compatible with the "Airjitzu" spinner pods from a few years back, as well as silver shurikens (a very useful and long overdue recolor). Granted, these are technically shared with the Spinjitzu Master Lloyd set that releases with the other Ninjago Movie sets this month, so maybe technically not a new part for next year.
70639 also includes a new large sword piece (similar to "Constraction" weapons) with connections for viking horn spikes.
I think this is a new shallower 2x8 arch in the new princess castle...
And it seems the 1x6 til gets a recolour in earth green as well
Those new NEXO Knight villains look like great contenders to make some Borg drones.
Going to want quite a few of those.
I hadn't even seen any of these images until now!
Teal? Wow, I didn’t know that color had even existed!
You have an amazing eye to see the new flowers.
One of the biggest things I am looking forward to is the new roller coaster style mine cart. I'm curious if people will use it simalr to the old "mono tracks." (At least that is what I think they were called. Please correct me if I got the term wrong.) I am also interested in power blast elements in trans-yellow and that interesting one by two hollow plate from the same set.
Hold on a second, I just realised that there's a blue crystal piece in the Ahch-To Island Training set. Could that be the evidence that Rey will indeed build her own lightsaber or is that too far fetched?
That Log Disguise Though.... The Best.
Cougar!!!!!!!!!!!!!
