By in Australia,

These range of tractors were adorable, and they had quite a long shelf-life in Lego City because more than a few of them popped up as freight on cargo ships and freight trains.

Perfect for a kid to push around the sandbox. Back in those days, we didn't have sand green or sand blue, but we sure had sand Lego.

The firestarter! This was my very first Lego set ever and I always had lots of fun with it. At age 4 it has plenty of play value per piece. Still have it.

What a fantastic pocket-money set, loads of moving parts, Minifigure with the super cool Motorway logo. Fond memories of this one

I’ve still got this one and it’s friend the mini excavator in my city digging up the road!!! Great classic lego!!!

It's always weird to me that people like MrGurt dump on the early sets even though, without those, there would be no modern sets that they can fawn over.

I miss little, fun, sets like this. Lego could easily put something like this out for £3-4 and it would sell well. Sigh. :(

@omnius we still have these in a way. Today's polybags are what these small sets used to be. Of course with a polybag you don't get all the alternative builds you would have with this. I love this and still have mine. The minifig is a little the worse for wear now.
