The smallest sets in the Friends line this year are bedrooms - one for each Friend. Today I'll take a look at 41341 Andrea's Bedroom. Andrea also had a bedroom set in 41009 Andrea's Bedroom, but that was a pretty generic room that didn't feature any of her interests. Today we'll see if things have improved for Andrea over the last five years.
The set is in a smaller box with tab openings. The front of the box shows the set in a room near a window with sunlight streaming in. The back of the box shows different features of the set as well as how to put together a minidoll. Inside the box there are two unnumbered bags, an 8x8 flame yellow plate, a small sticker sheet and a small instruction book.
The minidoll in this set is (obviously) Andrea. She's wearing a new outfit for this year - she has a one shouldered top with detailed printing of musical notes with a background that suggests electronics. This makes a lot of sense as Andrea is the Friend who has the most affinity for music. Andrea pairs her top with an aqua skirt. Her shoes are fuschia with aqua laces and soles that match her skirt. The Friends animal is Pepper the parrot. Pepper is also new this year, and is a gorgeous fuschia colour - matching Andrea's shoes! Pepper has flame yellowish accents on her feet, wings, beak, and has some very striking blue eye shadow.
Small ancillary pieces of the set are Andrea's keyboard and mix equipment. The keyboard is equipped with a microphone as well as a synthesizer represented by a 1x2 tile with various red and white markings. This is paired with a laptop equipped with some mix software so Andrea can create her own tunes.
All of the bedrooms have been built on a heart footprint - in this case the flame yellowish colour that we often see associated with Andrea.
The bedroom itself is quite compact as one would expect for a smaller set, but still has a number of details. I particularly like the windows represented by transparent light blue and transparent reddish violet wall elements. A gold record, an electric guitar and a bulletin board are featured on the wall. Maximizing the use of space, there's a small bed complete with cookie for Pepper on top of the wall.
One side of the heart there's a speaker system as well as a very attractive floor lamp. I like the use of warm gold pieces for the lamp.
The main feature of the room, the bed, has a very attractive bedspread (thanks to a couple stickers) that also feature musical notes as well as what appears to be synthesized music bars. Rainbows complete the colourful look. There's also a nightstand that is the home of a perfume bottle as well as a hair bow stand (because you can never be too far away from one of those). A throw rug at the foot of the bed completes the decor.
Again maximizing space, Andrea's bed is a Murphy bed, so it flips up, revealing a lighted dressing area with mirror with a rather snazzy stool.
I think this is a great little set. These smaller sets (85 pieces, $9.99, 9.99€, £9.99) are nice pocket money investments. Even though the set is priced a little high for the size, the designer has managed to pack a lot of details into those 85 pieces. All the details reflect Andrea's interests and personality. An added bonus is that there are a number of newer and still somewhat rare parts in this set, itemized on the inventory page here.
I think this represents a great improvement over the last Andrea's Bedroom from five years ago. Based on this set, I'd look for the other bedrooms to see how many details are included in those.
Many thanks to the LEGO Group for providing Brickset with a copy of the set. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.
