By in Australia,

Oh yay, I have this one! A cute little water plane. That was a good year for the World City theme. The two-seater coast guard helicopter is still one of my favourite Lego helicopters of all time .

By in United States,

Picked this up on a business trip from the airliner's shopping cart back in the day; must have been an international trip but I can't remember the airline. Comes with a unique nose slope with printed cargo logo, and the dark gray/red color scheme looks pretty good. As usual for Lego cargo planes, this one is way too small for its intended function...why are Lego cargo planes always smaller than the passenger planes, usually cargo planes are the big ones? Oh well, this one still looks great, and is one of the last of this scale before the current large-scale designs came out a couple of years later.

By in Netherlands,

That's a sweet looking water plane. Would love to add it to my collection if I get a chance.
Since internet erupted is when I realised how many nice Lego sets I missed growing up. Some of these sets I have never seen in shops are elsewhere.

^ Yeah, that's the pain with a lot of these promotional sets. They're really cool sets, but they're damn hard to track down, years after-the-fact.

^^ I’d be interested to read an article here about the background to promotional models, for example the numerous airline sets; how & why they’re commissioned, how the design approach seems to lead to simplified models compared with ‘standard’ sets etc...

Maybe just me?

I have this one too! Another cute set. I remember I bought it in-flight on Cathay Pacific (or might have been Dragonair). I agree that the red & grey colour scheme looks pretty good and the printed nose piece is a nice bonus too.

By in Portugal,

Good cargo plane but I think the 2008 and 2016 are better.

I miss 4-wide planes. I like the new jumbo jets too, but I feel reintroducing smaller planes would make for more diverse and realistic airports.
