The Jurassic World should have come with the other 3 baby raptor from the film rather than cute Blue, have you heard of Lego Cube?
Can any of you Canucks please toss a few of these over the border?
Really miss Toys R us in the U. K..
Smyths & the Entertainer dont have the Edge or the memories that TRU had:
Theres really no reason to live now the peel centre TRU has closed lol..
@fulcrumbop That depends, can you provide 75$ CND each weekend for the freebie? These things ain't cheap you know compared to those old spend 50$ US to get. ;)
When will the HP one be available in the US? Same time as CA?
Can they be ordered online w/o the promo requirements?
Also, that mini Flying Ford is terrible.
Yes! YES! YEESS! Harry Potter at Barnes and Noble in US! I am so relieved I won't have to buy these from another country!
I've never gotten any of these but my brother really likes Minifigures. Hopefully the rest of these will come to the US.
The Flying Ford is truely a thing of uglyness. However, from a personal point of view I must disagree about TRU in the UK. For me Smyths is a much nicer experience than TRU ever has been - the awful queues, poor stock and general feel of the shop not to mention the lack of offers... memories can go to blazes, I found TRU to be understaffed and frustrating. Our Smyths feels welcoming and I can always find a member of staff who knows what is going on and is helpful. It is clean and feels big enough to be a superstore, but not so large that I can’t find anyone to assist me. Plus they often have good offers. I wish them the best of luck in the current retail climate as it feels like there is so much they have got right.
@maxximus in past years the only way to get the TRU bricktober sets in canada was to spend $75 each week in-store. They were never available online or sold separately in-store.
Sucks that TRU doesn't consider the Lego Advent calenders as "building sets". Wouldn't give me the batman bricktober set last year because of that reason. :/
I'm praying these packs all come to the US, because I will not be happy if I have to order them from another country. :/
Should I just say it's weird to see City/Friends minidoll on the top of ad without their minidoll/minifigure exclusive set below? :p
Does anyone know when the Avengers one will be available in the US? I know the hp one will be available at Barnes and Noble, but what about the others?
Just a tip, the Japan Toy's R Us is doing bricktober as well. Unfortunately here you have to spend 7,000 yen to get it.
Info is as follows: 14,000 sets total (most likely 3,500 a set) shared across all Toy's R Us in the country.
Sep. 21 - 30: Ninjago
Oct. 1 - 10: Harry Potter
Oct. 11 - 20: Jurassic Park
Oct. 21 - 28: Marvel Super Heroes.
Only set I want is the Marvel one but I am of the country from the 20th.... Don't think I can convince the wife to go buy 7,000 yen of lego in my stead to get one either!
According to Bricking Around, and Australian Lego blog, Lego have no plans to release the Bricktober sets in any capacity to Australia. That was back in August so hopefully they've changed their minds, the Avengers one is the first bricktober set I've ever been interested in
Arent't these the same minifigure packs that were available in Europe earlier this year?
And Re: Jackthenipper about TRU, I have to second those feelings. We still have got TRU here in Germany, but I hardly ever go there because the shopping experience there is awful compared to the competition. Lack of staff, unmotivated and clueless employees, high prices (often even above RRP), lack of good offers/discounts, general unwelcoming feel, i.e. too large, too disorganised, "cheap" look and feel.
Must be very different in the US for so many people having fond memories of TRU. About TRU in the UK I was wondering, during which years did TRU operate there? I ask because I was in the UK for about a month once every year from 1979 right up to 1998, and I went to several toy stores during that time but never came upon a TRU. Liverpool/Wirral/Cheshire/North Wales area.
Does anyone know we’re I can get these in the uk in the future ? Or any online stores?
@AustinPowers - I think Smyths is buying the German TRU so hopefully it will improve. I think they were in the UK in the late 1980s and really expanded in the 1990s.
@fulcrumbop and fellow americans; I'd like to help you out in obtaining these...but you know with the Tariffs and all: I don't you're in luck.
Unfortunately my local shop had none of the Ninjago minifigs and I got a Bricktober set from last year instead... I don't know if this was a local distribution problem or not, but if you want one of the sets you shouldn't wait too long, I think
@austinpowers
TRU US had equally bad pricing policies and the folks in the US were complaining about it for years, the only reason they are now missing them is because of all the exclusives they are missing out on I'd wager.
TRU Canada however has always been better managed. At least as far as I have seen. Rarely were prices gouged above RRP, sales come frequently and often and Hasbro has been giving them quarter long coupons of late that encourages folks to shop there to get deals.
The look of the store however has always been rather bland and warehouse like, even in the late 80s early 90s when they had far more products on the shelves it looked more like a warehouse, that was the charm however. Seeing a complete aisle loaded and dedicated to your favorite brands, Transformers, G.I.Joe, LEGO, Star Wars... Nowadays with the distribution and stocking problems the sections have shrunk considerably, products linger for far too long and take up far too much space because they aren't selling, however our options in Canada are quite limited and TRU still does a lot of business because we have few other retailers to go to. (And I hate Wal-Mart, it is far worse than TRU as more often than not you'll just see a messy toy aisle, empty shelves and a LEGO section that looks like a hurricane hit it.)
Just a little service announcement: TRU in the Nordics are also participating in Bricktober! With the same "free" minifig packs, of course.
These sets were already available in the Netherlands and Germany with a EUR 40,- minimum buy at TRU.
Got all 4 sets through online buys. Choice of available sets was not to good at TRU though the do not have all the sets for sale.
Our experience with TRU shops (in Germany) was not too bad, they had good actions every now and then with prices far below RRP. Too bad they closed some shops now, online buying is still possible.
I don't really care about most of them, but I really like the MCU one, so hopefully that'll be available in the US at some point.
