Look, Children, a shiny piece!
Yes, it looks very out of place, and loses its sheen if you so much as breathe on it, BUT... shiny!! Ooh.

The only one out of those shiny-equipment-sets that I own.
^ Agreed. I still have it, been keeping it in a plastic bag for quite some time now. Like those silver swords from the same theme or the old lightsaber hilts, the plating can come off if you're not careful.

^and then you end up with weird off-white armor with silver flecks. No one wants to wear that.

The eBay prices for this set are ridiculously high. Way to high for the size and when it's from.

Behold! The second of the four shinies has been revealed! Only two more there are yet to come and then lo there shall be a great questioning of the point!

I just was at the fan-run Lego shop in Georgia, and saw this set going for... I think it was $80? While I can appreciate a cool shiny Lego piece as much as the next guy, I thought that was kind of insane.

I guess? If the silver parts don't age well, what you're paying for with that is getting that rare piece in pristine condition; though even that seems excessive to me. I guess people do pay it, though?
