I thought to myself “this looks familiar...”

“Oh yes.” I say to myself, “it is one of my MOCs from when I was three.”

Wow. I think I actually own this set from back in the day.

An over-reliance on a BUDP perhaps, but this dumper would have been a very playable set as a child!

Love it when Huwbot goes old-school on us.

I still have this set. Not one of my favorites but I have good memories with it.

One of my earliest Town sets, great set. I can see why construction vehicles are popular with kids as you can really do a lot with your imagination.

Ah 1983, the year I was born.
I remember building this set when I first got home from the hospital.
Quite challenging back then!!

Looks odd with only one set of wheels up front. Could they not spring for an extra pair?

The design was not bad for the time, but it would have been better if they had included the windshield.

I own this and it was very basic, even back then. Still, the stripes on the front thrilled me as a kid, that was a nice design choice.

Simple: yes. But somehow testament to the fact that with you don't need much to get a close approximation to the real thing. Close enough, anyway, for most kids. And the openness of the design means it's easy to play with, too.

Though I do like the current, more realistic styling (well - let's just not think about the 2019 garbage truck), I have a feeling that's more to please the parents (and maybe AFOLs)...
