I always liked the moderate-sized City sets from the mid- to late-2000s. They remind me of my childhood.
I think I bought this because I liked the Unimog style truck even more than the rescue boat
2008? I could have said that I saw this in a 2013 magazine...
I guess it was a remake.
The UK price seems somewhat inaccurate, but the US price goes to show that LEGO hasn't become more expensive in the last ten years, and may have become cheaper in real terms; this is borne out across the City range for that year.
And talking of the range: I know the usual argument is that "it sells", but the perennial subthemes of police, fire, construction, & coastguard in evidence that year make me yearn for more jungle explorers & volcanologists...
This is a nice set, I like it.
^^^It was a remake, same price in the US as well, but was in 2017 (60165). 2013's $40 set was a helicopter (60013).
^^Back in 2008, the pound was worth a lot more. Though the same 2017 set was only 20 in the UK for some bizarre reasons.
Also, first time that I have 2 RSOTD sets in a row (with Carbon Star yesterday)!
I had the set, it's one of the few I ever sold. It's obscenely oversized.
This set fills me with nostalgia, was one of my first ones and I loved it
I liked the smaller Coast Guard sets that came out this year, but I definitely wasn't a fan of this one.
Go Coast Guard!
This set gives me so much nostalgia one day I have to get this set.
@Isabella and Lego Liker: 60165 was similar, but had a 4x4 instead if a "Unimog".
That UK price can't be right, or it'd be a great bargain. 60165 cost about 35 euro (though I got it quite a bit cheaper) and that seems about right for a set this size.
Cool. I have this set.
After a streak of land-based vehicles and their related componets, Huwbot gives us a water-based vehicle instead.
...one that happens to come with a land-based vehicle.
I don't know if it's on Huwbot or on the set designers' imaginations.
Had that in the UK. Fairly sure it was more like £20-25. Decent vehicle, mine's since ended up as a hotdog van. As you do...
Very well scaled to real, rare for City. Eight stud truck, and a proper boat.
