I have some old no smoking signs from a gas station set but it’s spelled out

I need that "No smoking" sticker.

Set 5540 has a No Smoking sticker as well.

I got this second hand in a huge lot and it is one of my favorite sets. The modeling of the plane was perfect. It's not visible in this picture though.

The way the picture is laid out suggests a certain longing, even romance, between the two minifigures. It's beautiful.

Wow, did not expect to see a No smoking sign in a Lego set today.

Oh look, two yellow minifigure heads with sunglasses and smile. Some people hate the Timmy head, but this one is worse to me.

On topic, this looks like an interesting set, considering being released in the '90s. (nothing at all against '90s sets, I'm just saying I think TLG did a pretty good job for back then, considering they didn't have near the number of parts that we do now.) And that 'no smoking' sign is also rather interesting. Never knew there was an official sticker for that. :)

Good airplane design, nice tools, and the sunglasses face was one of the fun ones from Town/Paradisa.

The only Sunglasses face that was better at the time was the face with the blue glasses and the stubble - Head Glasses with Blue Sunglasses and Wide-Spaced Stubble Pattern , which was only used in 1993-1994 not counting re-releases.

Hold on, is that tail and fins all one piece? I don't recognise it.

Edit: nope. It's an old tailfin with a higher back that allowed the fin piece to slot over it. Huh. Never knew.

Huh, interesting that the image shows an alternate build rather than the high-wing, Cessna-like look of the main model.

Aahh... A set from a time when people used to smoke and it wasn't that big a deal - AKA the pre-dystopian era.

And BTW, nonsense like the disappearance of the LR article is why I've been starting to lose faith in Brickset lately. First there was the March Hispabrick article that didn't allow comments at all (which is exactly the type of behaviour that turns people against the subject of said issue), then we had the closing of comments on the first JP article, and now this.

Had it been an accidental leak caused by Brickset alone I could almost've understood it, but the set is still visible on both Eurobricks and Brothers-Brick. The cat's already out of the bag, stop doing "Comical Ali"-level damage control.

The deletion of the Land Rover news article is laughable at best. The pictures are everywhere by now, and if anyone is to blame for a leak it is the person at Smyths who posted the set details and pics, not the Brickset team. In any case, I am so fed up by TLG's antics by now, I have decided to stop buying LEGO sets for the time being. After all, TLG has riled up the German customs people that much that even getting the special Bricklink sets delivered unhindered is becoming difficult, let alone sets (legal ones mind you) by companies like Xingbao, etc.

LEGO imho is losing an enormous amount of goodwill and image at the moment, with what they are doing to try and stop competition, even legal one. Of course, now that their quality is weakening while their prices are getting ever higher, having decent competition is not what they are after.
They should spend more energy getting better at their game again than at hindering legal competitors.

Well, as these issues has been quite recent, I'm still hoping they're just random and temporary. Guess I've been reading Brickset since the traffic here is fairly moderate, as opposed to larger sites like Eurobricks where it can be a bit overwhelming.

And I agree this subject belongs in the forum but I couldn't find anything there about the LR article, only the posts here. It generally doesn't look like that many are using the forum, as the posts are old and it's poorly integrated with the rest of the site (like requiring a separate account and not mirroring the frontpage articles). It also seems to suffer from the same issue that killed the Railbricks forum and I've even seen at my local LUG - it's split up into too many sub-groups making the traffic spread too thin, causing it to dip below a critical level for people to check it regularly.

How can a minifig smoke if there are no LEGO cigarettes, nor any smoking devices whatsoever?
How can LEGO Gandalf be so chill all the time without his pipe?
