Random set of the day: Light
Posted by Huwbot,
Today's random set is 4463 Light, released in 2002. It's one of 43 Sports sets produced that year. It contains 16 pieces.
It's owned by 92 Brickset members. If you want to add it to your collection you might find it for sale at BrickLink or eBay.

Wow.
I think we have found the legitimately most random set in the database today.
Is that Gazza?
Don't you just love all of the fine detail they put into it! :)
At least they didn't name it something convoluted like: Arctic Batman vs. Mr. Freeze: Aquaman on Ice...
"And today's match is suddenly postponed due to a... light... in the middle of the field."
Probably a strange critique, but I dislike the somewhat frequent use of 'transparent florescent green' for 'real world' lights. To me, the color should be reserved for Space, Aquazone, and other fictional themes. The exception would be for something like a radiation leak in a City set. In general, 'trans yellow' seems like the best choice for lighting.
This should be fun...
...And the LORD said: "Let there be light!"
And look, Huwbot chose Light.
Wow.
There is a smaller difference in quality between this set and Black Seas Barracuda, than this set and any Clikits.
Please appriciate it!
Bright idea Lego.
You’ll love the video review on the set’s page.
As random and odd sets like this seem, I actually quite like them. A cheap way to get a small build that could be splattered all over your display, kinda like the Xtra line that started a while back in a way.
Huwbot must have seen that cat running across the field at the football game and got inspired to choose the set that looked the most like it on the box.
I’m just intrigued by the guy doing jumping jacks.
I'm amazed that 92 people admit to owning this set. LOL
@drussell: Funny you mention that, that's exactly what they did with 3402 — trans-yellow lights. Don't know why they did it this way later.
I think 4466: Sign Board, is better.
4 Pieces.
Oh wait the link says 4, but it only has 3.
And for silliness, if i had 1 more of the light pieces, I could say I owned the set (have 2 of the light pieces from 2006's 8670)!
The title is almost philosophical. The random set of the day is light. Maybe, the corresponding random set of the night would be ... moonshine. But then again ... that’s no moon, it’s a space station
...and it retailed for just $14.99; absolute bargain!
Maybe one of the 92 ownership can provide a better scan of the instructions of box (as stated in the description)
That's a very playable set!
It is both a device that creates illumination and probably doesn't weight very much so "light" is appropriate on two counts
@XPav ... that sign board is just three pieces! They don't even build anything, it's just three bits!
I get it now. Remember the Coca-Cola partnership with the 2002 Sports sets? So this has to be Coca-Cola Light!
Ba dum tss.
I'll take 8!
Something to use to highlight Tree N°2 with!
What kind of a rubbish set is this??
^ what, you think this is trash? Obviously you never owned "dark." Talk about a lame set...
Iconic.
I actually like this set. If you need the light you buy the light. No helicopter or crane attached.
What a poser. This can’t hold a candle to legends like Tree 2 or Signboard. Tryhard...
You all have to admit: Comment after sets like these are much more amusing, than for a "normal" set.
It's probably got a 20 page instruction booklet.
Thanks Brickset, for enlightening me about this set.
What lego have done... Thats a really small and weird set. Might be good if you want to add some lights on the arena.
How exciting!
A: I used to work for Lego as a designer!
B: Wow, it's a great and inspiring job! Many people dream of it. What product did you design?
A: Lights
B: o.O
Well, it's easy to kick a ball into a huge net for one point. So to mix things up LEGO is going off of a variant of the game where taking out a field light counts as two points per light. That's a potential six points sitting there waiting for the taker...
The video review is hilarious.
[insert sarcastic/witty remark]
I guess you could say that this set is deLIGHTful!
Looks like Clikits has a new rival in the comments department.....
Do ye see the light?!!
Wow. So many comments for a crappy set.
Did we already get all the Studios Trees?
This is my favorite set of the day. l love light
He was not strong enough to open the polybag. :-D
This may have been the best review of a Lego set I have ever seen. Seriously, if you have 5 minutes, watch it.
I hope Lego will reissue this set, before Cafe Corner.
If I counted correctly, it's one of 30 Japanese Coca-Cola promo sets tied to the 2002 World cup. I like 4470:Ball, which has 2 soccer balls.
The Football/Soccer theme sets were pretty cool overall
I had the stadium set from the year 2000 but after 15+ years of them standing on the field they lost their clutch power for regular studs :(
