By in United States,

I’ve always liked these small City sets. They’re an excellent and affordable way to add some realism.

2020 City is finally getting a Street Sweeper again that's sold as it's own small set.

By in United States,

Another of my very first sets! I loved there is a hose connected to a weird metal detector/vaccuum thing , which can be detached and held by the workman if you want him to suck up stuff or look for buried treasure (I viewed it as a metal detector when I was younger and still do.) The red container on the back is a great detail as well as the angleing light on the front and the textured grille bricks. The brushes themselves work too well, and pick up dust and hair which gets tangled like in a hairbrush. I got the transparent medium blue brushes which are actually more of a "milky" LEGO color than a transparent LEGO color. Lastly, those brushes are pretty pointy, probably one of the worst pieces to step one and I myself wondered even back then why this set was only 5+.

I love the first wave of the modern city sets, including this one! It’s still probably my favorite street sweeper.

A new one in 2020? Will it be a new driver? I mean this guy is what, in his late 40's by now?

I mean he was in his 20's back in 6649, and just a teen still in 6645...

I wonder if his son will take over?

Well, this is nice, guess the new one will be a RSOTD in 2030 then.

It was 4.99 in 05, then 5.99 in 06, and finally 7.99 in 07.

The new one has a better PPP than this one in the 07-retired form.

By in Australia,

I bought 6645 when I was a kid, and I never felt the need to upgrade, although I do like the idea that all these street-sweepers are being driven by the same Lego City Council Worker who gets a new vehicle every decade, or so.

Look at that driver. "Hey! Can't you see I'm sweepin' here?!?!"

This guy cleans the streets of my city - he always looks like he enjoys his job...
I bet the next one will be electric!

By in Canada,

Remember having bought this from a Kmart for a discount price because of box damage. No blue brush...

It always annoyed me that this set seemed to be considered a "Construction" set.

By in Austria,

I was 13 back then and wanted it so damn bad but had no money :-(

As a proud owner of 6649 and an active hunter for a decent 6645 I say:

Lego used to make brilliant little sets back in the day. I am now very much focused on modulars and trains and supplement my Town with stuff from 80s and 90s in terms of vehicles (especially service/maintenance), small buildings, shops, stands etc. There were so many back then.

I even prioritise Harbour and Airport stes from that era over the more modern stuff.

I always wanted to get this set as the sweeper interested me, now I'll get the new one.

By in Germany,

Love those little classic early City sets. Almost as cool as those from the old Legoland Town theme.

Nice little set.

My brother had this. I remember taking the brushes and rolling them between my hands. XD

This sweeper's Driver is named Frank Foreman in "Robot Chronicles" Lego webgame from 2009.
He appeared too in: Mobile Crane (7249) and Construction Site (7243).

@blue_car
The new street sweeper in 2020 is clearly Chase McCain

Has he quit the police force because of jealousy over rising star Duke Detain? Is he plotting Duke's downfall? Is he going to sweep hims up?

In terms of parts--lots of great ones here. In terms of a set, I think it looks great!
