In its 9th year, Bricks Cascade has garnered much attention and gained popularity, to the extent that it's been voted one of the 50 top events in Oregon.

This year, over 450 people have registered to attend. The convention for builders starts tomorrow at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland. Thursday - Friday is geared exclusively toward registered attendees.

There are activities for registered attendees on Saturday and Sunday as well. In case you haven't registered, you can still experience Bricks Cascade during the public exhibition, being held on both Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Several LEGO Masters contestants will be in attendance, including Richard and Flynn ("Married Thespians"), Amie and Krystle ("The Unicorns"), and of course, Oregon's own Mark and Boone ("The Bearded Builders").

I've heard such great things about the con that I've decided I had to check it out this year for myself. I'll be there on Friday, Saturday, and part of Sunday. If you're attending, please say hi and let me know your thoughts on our set reviews, LEGO Masters coverage, or anything else on the site. I'll be the only MeganL there with a Brickset brick on her name badge.

Hope to see you there!

It's gonna be rad! I didn't know a brickset staff member would attend, that's cool!

Me, my wife and daughter will be attending Saturday, early afternoon. We're looking forward to it. If you see a tall, out-of-shape, goofy and nerdy dad with reddish hair and gray goatee looking at booths for older vintage Lego sets, please say, "Hi!"

I'll be in Portland this weekend, for a completely different convention. I wonder if they're in the same building...

most likely. The Oregon Convention Center has 5 exhibit halls and there aren't a ton of other large convention spaces

"It was pretty good this year, though I did see a LOT of repeats"

LEGO building is a long burn... I saw "repeats," but each had been improved and enhanced from the previous year(s). A few builders I spoke to showed me the full interiors they'd built, or the lighting they'd added, etc. I love to see the improvements year-over-year.
