Review: 853990 Easter Bunny House
Posted by CapnRex101,
Seasonal models and minifigures have become remarkably impressive during recent years and 853990 Easter Bunny House looks splendid. An adorable chicken coop is included and I like the exclusive minifigure which should complement 5005249 Easter Bunny Hut.
Moreover, some appealing pieces are available here, including the medium azure motorcycle which is reasonably uncommon. The price of £6.99 or $7.99 seems fairly expensive when compared with previous Seasonal sets though.
Minifigure
Several minifigures wearing bunny costumes have been created. This example closely resembles the rendition from 5005249 Easter Bunny Hut, featuring an enormous bow tie and a colourful jacket. Aqua decorates few minifigures but looks fantastic here, especially since this shade negates the problematic transition to white that severely affected the Easter Bunny minifigure from 2018.
The bunny ears component looks wonderful and this head is unique, including whiskers and a great facial expression with prominent teeth. An alternative face would have been welcome, although I am satisfied with the existing design. Naturally, this minifigure carries an orange carrot and several small eggs are provided too.
The Completed Model
Eggs are inherently associated with Easter and an attractive hen house is accordingly included. This structure is modest but features some lovely colours, due in particular to the bright flower parts which are positioned outside. The lime green stem looks marvellous too and the set also contains additional foliage, helping to create an organic environment.
The contrast between the white base and the wooden walls is extremely effective, along with the red roof panels. Unfortunately, narrow gaps are visible underneath the roof but it looks nice when viewed from either side and I love the angular steps. These are constructed using 1x1 double slopes which is very simple but works perfectly. Furthermore, the tan slopes only appear in five previous sets.
Viewing the model behind reveals a delightful function as a small door opens beneath the hen house, revealing an egg inside! This is realistically situated below the chicken and the floor is hollow, allowing the egg to drop through. The chicken is available with several other sets but LEGO animals are always welcome and the red highlights look superb.
Contrasting with the traditional charm of this hen house, the Easter Bunny rides an unusual medium azure motor scooter in this set. This element only appears in four sets and looks appropriately bright, although the light bluish grey egg tray appears drab by comparison. I love the printed fried egg which replaces the headlight though and the eggs look splendid, despite using white globes rather than the dedicated egg piece.
Overall
853990 Easter Bunny House is certainly an entertaining set. I am delighted with the exclusive Easter Bunny minifigure and the colourful design of the accompanying models feels perfectly appropriate for this season. The hen house appears especially attractive and the egg function is fantastic, despite its relative simplicity.
The price of £6.99 or $7.99 is more expensive than I had hoped though. 40237 Easter Egg Hunt, for example, contained two minifigures and many more pieces than this set but only cost £8.49 or $9.99. Unique printed components should be taken into account though and I am pleased with this charming set, despite its relative expense.

Feels like an intermediate between the seasonal minifig and the old seasonal sets now ousted by brickheads. Nice scooter though.
Now bring back the goat for next year.
I keep wanting to pick this up at my local Lego Store, but the price keeps stopping me. Maybe it will go on sale in the future. Nice set, though.
The headlight looks like a cooked egg lol

Yes. That's an eggcelent observation.
Gotta get it
@woosterlegos It's indeed a bit.. eggspensive :P
No spare fried egg tile though... that is hardly eggstravagant of them.
Ok that well done coop is why we need the farm theme to return.
I miss the minifig in your database! Whats wrong?
I’m find these egg puns eggs-crutiating.
Well the yolks on you. Slick use of the handlebar/kickstand piece. Usually it is the bucket handle for the kickstand.
The scooter, combined with the chicken part and the Easter bunny figure equal about 6-7 dollars for just those parts. Not a horrible cost considering.
I don’t think these egg yokes will go over easy. If they were cow jokes I’d say they were utterly ridiculous. Any way whoever started this string of jokes should just go sunny side up.
