Review: 41908 Extra Dots series 1
Posted by Alice,
A couple of weeks ago in my review of 41916 Extra Dots - Series 2, I didn't feel the colours were suited for many of the DOTS sets already available as they are quite bright warm-toned shades.
However, it seemed 41908 Extra Dots - Series 1 was, especially for 41915 Jewellery Box, as it fits with the pastel colour scheme.
So I thought I'd get a pack to embellish mine!
Inside the pack we have lots of 1/4 circle tiles in teal, two shades of pink and light green and some transparent blue glitter round tiles, which only appear in this pack!
Like Series 2, the pack contains 10 out of a possible 16 printed tiles (and one spare). Here's what I had in mine. The emojis are the most appealing aspect of the pack for me, and I was lucky enough to get the rainbow unicorn poop tile too!
It was mentioned in the comments of my series 2 review about the prints not being straight, which seems to be the case here too...
So, I specifically got this pack to see how it worked with my 41915 Jewellery Box. I completely changed the design from my review so I could add in the new pieces.
The colours in the extra dots pack are identical to the ones in jewellery box, minus the lavender, so I only needed a few extra 1/4 circle tiles from the extra dots pack to complete the design in the colours I wanted.
So I guess if you have 41915 Jewellery Box you already have most the pieces, other than the cool emojis and pretty blue glitter tiles of course. But you may wish to get extras of a certain colour if you want more pink on your jewellery box for example.
£3.99 / $3.99 / €3.89 for 109 pieces is good value so if you don't have the Jewellery Box, then 41908 Extra Dots - Series 1 is the perfect way to get lots of tiles to add to your collection, and it's worth picking up just for the printed tiles and blue glitter tiles.

You can never have too many dots.
Colour-wise my personal preference is leaning heavily towards Series 2. These colours just don't do it for me: even though I like teal, spring yellowish green and glitter trans-light blue individually, I'm not such a big fan of pink or magenta, and putting them all together just doesn't work that well for me. Needs more lavender!
I do like some of the prints included here, and wear them proudly on my Sparkly Unicorn and Love Birds bracelets. But the Keetorange, coral and medium azure in Series 2 are right up my alley and work so much better together.
Got all 16 different DOTs from here and I much prefer this series to the second one. The tiles are more useful and colourful imo.
Thanks for the great review, much better than mine :D
Gotta admit, that off-center printing would bug me... Love the concept of these, though.
Lovely design. Might have to copy it for my jewellery box when i get round to opening it. I love Dots, but i don't think they've been very popular with AFOL's, except the ladies of course!

Hence the rainbow heart.
*rimshot*
These are great for custom signs!
Also fun fact - I thought its rainbow tornado when I first saw it. As a ninjago fan, I will use it as TORNADO OF CREATION sign!
I still have to get a few of these, if for nothing else the rainbow heart
The green looks a bit like honeydew melon slices.

Dang it. I scrolled down purely to make that joke :).
I would be interested if a pack purely of say 5 different primary coloured dots (as suggested by the title) as would be useful for DIY mosaics, moc road surface coverings etc,as I find the quarter circles difficult to work with, but maybe someone more talented than me may be able to create an artistic picture. Also if the smiley faces were numbers or letters then than would be really useful for mocs.
