Medieval Blacksmith is still available!
Posted by Huw,
Surprisingly, despite being released hours ago, the highly anticipated 33rd LEGO Ideas set 21325 Medieval Blacksmith is still available at LEGO.com for immediate delivery in all markets.
Interestingly, LEGO sent out a mailshot about the set yesterday, ahead of its release, claiming there was limited stock. We've now learned from the LEGO ambassador network (LAN) that this was to "manage expectations and combat the high number of complaints that Consumer Services has been receiving when a new set is advertised by email but sells out quickly."
If you've already bought it, how was your shipping experience?
#Ad: Brickset will receive a small commission from orders placed via the links in this article.

I would be surprised if this set sells out
I've noticed over the past couple of weeks they've been ramping up stock on a lot of sets that were back-order or out of stock. Maybe, for once, they've anticipated demand and got plenty in stock. And the limit is 2 sets first time around (I've often noticed higher limits for anticipated sets), which should also help.
I'm not paying the €170 they are asking for it in the Netherlands. Germany is €150, that's just ridiculous. I'm hoping more Dutchies have followed.
I purchased it! Everything went smoothly ^^

Same price here in Denmark (€170-ish). The set is pretty cool, but I don't have space or money for it.
I waited until this morning to order, and the purchase experience was fine, except that the Chocolate Box and Flower set that was in my cart as a GWP, along with the Year of the Ox set, does not now show in my confirmation email or order history. I will just hope they come through in the end.
No longer will I engage in the “midnight madness” on a set’s release date, as I did 75978. It is not only not worth the frustration, but I still have not received that set and no delivery date is in site.
Couldn't believe it getting in from my night shift to see this was still in stock!
Now I'm just hoping they manage to ship my backordered 80107 Spring Lantern Festival with 40448 Vintage Car at some point during February...
Fine but no GWPs added... I have contacted CS but to be honest it’s no big deal if I don’t get them - I used my Christmas gift card!

Wow - you ordered 75978 at midnight on day one, and it STILL hasn't shipped?! Wasn't that last September? That is INSANE! Seems like I remember it being in stock for a while.
Purchased earlier this morning and it went through smoothly with both GWP shown on the confirmation screen.
Edit - looks like the second GWP isn't showing now... strange :-/
Bought the set this morning around 00:10, the order did not show the year of the ox set 40417 but when I checked my email later this morning it did show up there. Same for the other gwp 30411. Biggest downside of this set is the price in NL as it is €169,99.
Right now my order is in the warehouse ready for shipping, probably for later this week.

Agreed! Does anyone actually know why LEGO sets are often consistently more expensive in the Netherlands than they are in our neighbouring countries? I mean 50 euros more for sets that are already very expensive to begin with; the Hogwarts Castle and Millennium Falcon. And too many sets below 100 euros often get a 10 (or in extreme cases even 20) euro price bump here, such a shame...

I emailed them and got this:
TL;DRinDutch: things are more expensive in the Netherlands, so is LEGO.
In France it's 160€ but as long it's only 150$ in the US I expect prices to go down, at least on other marketplaces.
A was also expecting some sort of medieval promotional set. There were some rumors about that.
Maybe later when the creator 1in3 castle set will be available.
No problems when I ordered at 7o/c this morning and showed both gwp on the order.

Interesting stuff, thanks for sharing! I guess I'm still just confused that they're not consistent with their price differences. I mean, the new Police Station is the same price here as it is in Germany, and Diagon Alley is "only" a 10 euro difference, whereas Hogwarts is 50, it just seems so random...
I stayed up late and ordered shortly before midnight, didn't care about the GWP. With 80107 Spring Lantern Festival and 10281 Bonsai Tree still out of stock a month after release, I didn't want to risk missing this one too.
Hope they're able to fix any production issues they're having, because I really want those other two sets.
I ordered it last night at 11:30PM Central Time... no problems whatsoever. The two GWP were added automatically. I had just finished dismantling my Original Blacksmith Shop 3739 and sorting the pieces to prep that rare set for sale on eBay. I will be going live later this morning. LEGO 3739 Blacksmith Shop.

The title of this article is almost begging for a sarcastic comment... but I'm not going to. I've spent all my daily dose of sarcasm on the "White noise" article.
I don't know if promotion is allowed in these comment sections, so if not, feel free to remove this comment. For my fellow Dutchies I'd like to give a shoutout to a relative of mine, who works in an unofficial LEGO store in the Netherlands that, while not getting the sets as quickly as LEGO does, is a great alternative for buying the more recent sets. Some of their older sets will get a price bump after a while, but the newest ones are usually cheaper than at LEGO themselves (and definitely cheaper than the regular toy stores). And I'm pretty sure their shipping is generally faster than LEGO's too, judging by the comments on basically every article regarding LEGO.com. Often they will have many of LEGO's 'out of stock'-sets still available. Plus, it'd be awesome if some more people would support him and his co-workers in these trying lockdown times! The stores' name is Playtoday, and it's located in Gouda. (although don't completely go nuts on their webshop, it's still a local business that's not outfitted for massive amounts of consumers)
Probably would’ve been gone by 12:01 in every time zone if they hadn’t pulled the goat from the set.

I can also echo this same situation. The second GWP, Chocolates and flower box has vanished from the confirmation and my order. I'm just going to wait and see what happens. It's not worth making a big stink about right now, for a $5 extra that may show up anyway.

I had the same situation and emailed them - this is the second time in two months that this has happened to me!
Also can confirm that the Chocolates and Flower Box GWP vanished on the email order receipt. It was initially there last night during the checkout, and thankfully I saved a screenshot of it on my order as evidence.
To make matters worse, I redeemed my code for the Castle collectable coin, added it to the order, got confirmation it was added, then it too, vanished on the email receipt.
Just off the phone with customer support (43 min wait time). She was able to see that I redeemed the castle coin code and that I didn't get the chocolate/flower box GWP. She created a separate order for both items and said it will be shipped to me separately and apologized for the inconvenience.
Anyhow, that's my experience. Not the best but at least if you've got the time, LEGO CS seems to live up to its reputation. If you didn't get your GWP's or other Redeemables', I'd recommend giving them a shout.
I ordered mine around noon here in the U.S.A. Got the flower & candy box, and Ox sets as well.
Still no confirmation email, but it took several hours to get that when I ordered a pair of 10265-1 a few weeks ago. It seems they are struggling with the flow.
No worries though!
I’ll wait for another moment. 170 euro’s is a bit too much.

Especially for that price.
Bought mine a few moments ago in the US. Electronically everything seems to be OK. Yet with all these little issues I think I have to keep my eyes open.
The situation is now much like it was for Frank on “Everybody Loves Raymond” after choosing nonchalantly to eat a long-expired pudding from Raymond’s refrigerator. Afterwards, Franks nestles into the sofa while Raymond’s older brother Robert says in his soft, baritone voice...
“And NOW we wait....”
Mine's shipped already, I'm still in shock. Lego have never shipped the same day.
Haven’t ordered this set yet, but did place an order on the 29th of December which was dispatched and in transit until their delivery partners DPD had issues delivering due to Brexit and its was sent back to Belgium.
so far no response from emails to TLG or DPD, just getting the message There was an exception with your order on the Lego.com website, nothing from DPD at all, yet have received other orders from Amazon etc through DPD.
Dreading to think what the box and content will be like when or if it ever arrives. Holding off on new orders until they sort out deliveries to Ireland
Really love this set and most certainly will buy it at some point, but not at 1899 sek (187 eur)!!! Lego's excuse that everything is more expensive in Sweden doesn't work so well since the invention of the interweb.
Probably would’ve ordered if it didn’t cost 40 euro more than in Germany (190 euro here in Sweden :’( ). I’ll wait for a while to see if it becomes available in other shops at a cheaper price, most of the sets seem to show up in other shops eventually here.
The pricing structure is ridiculous.
LEGO is not producing in Sweden - or the Netherlands for that matter. Why should "everything is more expensive there" be a reason why LEGO products are more expensive too?
And is living in Germany really that much cheaper than in the Netherlands?
It's one of those sets that looks gorgeous, but is tricky to buy on its own. If they had supported it with a full line of modern Castle sets like this, I'd have bought in that line blindly. But on its own, I'll wait until later, if later ever comes.

Thanks for adding your info to your experience. I took the time to call as well and the customer service rep was able to add the flowers/chocolate into my order as well. I was probably on hold about 30 minutes.
I just ordered this set via your brickset affiliate link. Like other Dutchies, I am not happy that this set is €20 more expensive than in our neighbouring country Germany, still I went ahead and placed a first day order for this set, I suppose the two GWP sets you get (for *free) when you order now are a lovely bonus (year of the Cow set & Valentines gift set).
Plus, I absolutely want this set! So there, I could not resist!
I placed my order for this shortly before midnight and I received an email at 16:38 advising that it has been shipped!
Currently showing backorder with shipping by Feb 18 in Canada - I ordered last night just after midnight and that order has moved to 'in Warehouse' status, so we shall see...
Lego.com showed the set as available for purchase at 11:55 although when I went to submit my order it did not go through. The second try, which was after 12:00 worked smoothly.
Are you supposed to get both GWPs with purchase or just the ox?
The reason for not buying this, is the 20 euro higher price here in the Netherlands 169 versus the 149 at our neighbours.
First There was a 5 euro difference then 10 and now 20.
Not to be insensitive, but if anyone in the Netherlands wants to trade, I'd take higher LEGO/goods prices if it meant I got to live there! ;) Totally sounds worth it to me!
As a dutchy i too had my doubts about the pricing here when compared to the price Germany (complaining about the cost of stuff is a typically dutch trait btw ;)) I used some Vip points for a small discount do the privé felt right again . Will probably sell the gwps too, which would make it even better...
Love the set but I’m going to try to hold off till March to get double points. Hopefully it will be in stock. My impulse $$$ went to the Gingerbread House this month, a set that will retire much sooner.
Ordered at 11pm and shipped at lunch time today.. makes a nice change after most of my recent orders being on back order.
For anyone else having the missing Chocolate box and flower GWP issue, I just got off the phone with Customer service. Total call time was 15 minutes and the issue is now happily resolved!
I love the set but really only want the Black Falcon torsos and shields. Is there a set time when new sets appear in "Bricks and pieces"?
I'd absolutely love to get this, but I have to give priority to the Police Station and the Porsche 911. Once I get those then I can think about picking this up.
Just ordered this for the ridiculous Finnish price of a 180€ Both GWPs were in the cart thankfully

I'm waiting untill I can buy it at amazon.de for the German price.
...and still available in the UK
It’s out of stock in the US now.
i ordered about 30 minutes after it went live because i fell asleep during the checkout process.
Similar to others, the chocolate box was in my cart but disappeared during checkout. I sent an email. It still hasn’t been added to my order, and my order is still in the warehouse.
All good. They will take care of it.

I get what you say but it also a fact that most of the time we pay plus price for exactly the same box. There is not really a reason for this other than the expensive licensing deals from the importer (formerly InterToys).
If we would complain when the price levels where the same I would agree in this matter.

I'm following!
Usually right at the release date. But not all pieces are made available for sale seperately. Mostly the licensed parts, but often also other parts that would take away the incentive to buy the whole set.
First time I've ordered and had the site be sluggish but the order still go through all the steps to completion. I doubt they've done anything to improve the site's performance, so I guess demand for this was lower than at other key new-product-release times in the past.
"Backorders accepted. Ships until February 10th"
No availability to order. Expectation setting? More like they caused a damn run. I hate this company with a passion. They know it will be popular, why are they limiting the production numbers? Just makes me even more sickened by this hobby.
It's sad how some people are totally oblivious to what's going on around them, and have absolutely no comprehension as to why that might cause some minor delays.

Agreed. Manufacturing and supply chains for literally everything are extremely complicated and strained right now. I work for a manufacturing company, and the pandemic is affecting every industry that makes physical goods. I even wager that LEGO has pretty good marketing expectations of demand - they just can’t meet it due to operational and logistical constraints.
People staying home has probably driven demand UP, in addition to capacity being down. I hope people can stay safe, stay home, enjoy what LEGOs they have, and that we can beat this soon.
Thanks for the comments here about the GWP sets being there when ordering but then being missing off the confirmation email. I looked and the same thing had happened to my order so I phoned customer services and it got sorted.

What makes you think they're purposefully limiting anything? Multiple factories were shut down for months, and I don't believe a single one has gone back to full capacity. The concept that they're intentionally keeping stock low makes no sense. When things are out of stock on the Lego website, people go elsewhere. *That's not ideal for Lego*

Same here as well. I was also on hold for about 30 mins or so and then the lady created a new order for the flower/chocolate gwp. Interestingly, afterwards, I noticed there was an extra ox gwp set added to my original order. So now it shows 2 ox sets in there. It will be interesting to see if I will actually receive 2 ox sets or just 1 :-)
I was really surprised that despite them writing „limited supply“ in their own announcment email for this set sent to (all?) VIP (probably a large % of lego.com customers) on the 31st the limit in the shop was set at 2, where most other new stuff from January as well as the popular older sets are at 1.
Oh and because of said mailing, I went and ordered my two copies at five past midnight - both orders shipped this morning, including two GWP each and my VIP coins I redeemed.

Thank you. Glad others can see this too. I pointed out in another post that Lego was manufacturing PPE at the height of the pandemic last year. This obviously has caused issues with making new sets for this year, so there is bound to be some limitations in supply while they get back to making Lego. Everyone just needs to be patient.
@DBMartin:
Different cost of living, different overhead on running a business, different sales profile (which is only hurt by higher MSRP compared to neighboring countries), and different MSRP negotiated with different local retailers.
I mean, as far as I understand it, any nation in the EU can sell products in any other EU nation as if they were produced domestically, right? There shouldn't be any additional taxes or tariffs attached to these sets, right? Or maybe VAT is different between countries.
@dmcmonagle:
I'm happy to say that the last of my "snails" (Black Friday, Dec1, Jan1, and Jan2) have finally arrived as of Saturday afternoon...which I discovered Monday morning when I opened the door to clean off my sidewalk.
@AustinPowers:
Higher cost of living, higher overhead on businesses, etc. If a store puts one of these on a shelf, they need to be able to make a profit on it. MSRP is usually set by the largest retailer in a particular market, not the manufacturer. In the US, that'd be Walmart. Anyone else has to figure out how to make that work for them. Target can get away with selling at MSRP. Barnes & Noble has to raise their prices, which in turn leads to less turnover. TRU was the same way before they went out of business, but that had more to do with investors sucking all the value out of the company before setting it adrift.
@Balthazar_Brannigan:
Not _all_ industries are as affected by the current situation. Certain essential supplies, like medical products, are being prioritized across the board, so shipments are less likely to be affected. In the US, FedEx and UPS capped the number of parcels they'd accept from most businesses because they hit peak capacity, but as far as I know there were no caps imposed on medical products. Everything else got dumped on USPS, which had also hit peak capacity (and wasn't allowed to turn away customers like FedEx/UPS could, or raise prices without Congressional approval). I read an article with a quote from a truck driver who said it took her two days just waiting in line to get into the yard at a USPS regional sorting facility, and then another 52 hours to get unloaded once she got in. One of my coworkers said the facility near her had a 5-day wait in December. They had such a huge backlog that my Dec1 order (shipped USPS) and Jan1 order (shipped FedEx) arrived on the same day within hours of each other.
@EarthGirl83:
I've made similar comments on several threads. One in particular was a bit less congenial than others, and got a pretty big positive response from other commenters. Many people are aware of what's going on, but it's mostly just a handful of people who keep making the same complaints on any article that gets within spitting distance of the subject. But when you see the same complaint from the same people a few dozen times in just a couple months, it starts to wear at already-frazzled nerves. What you don't see is all the people that just opt to "let it slide" so as to not make a fuss, or risk sparking a flame war, but who silently hold an opinion on the matter.

Not that I want to justify Lego charging different prices in different EU countries as I don't know their cost base in different countries/contract with different local dominant retailers/etc, but do you boycott other brands as well? Things being more expensive in Finland is not Lego specific - Finland is in general one of the most expensive countries in Europe. The only EU countries where things are even more expensive are Denmark, Ireland, and my home country Luxembourg. Most people experience general sticker shock when visiting Nordic countries; I don't because I live in LUX...
Germany however is one of the cheapest ones for almost all products (except transport).
The same applies to the Netherlands: price levels in Germany are on average 10% lower than in the Netherlands. (20% vs Finland)
Prices however are only one factor - on the purchasing power parity scale, Finland (and LUX) occupies some of the top places, together with Germany.
Doesn't mean you have to buy this set at a higher price; in a couple of months Amazon DE will likely sell it, allowing you to buy it at the German RRP - or lower when there is a discount.
But Amazon.de will not ship to Finland, will they? I once tried to order a set from Amazon.fr as it was much cheaper there, but got an error message saying it could not ship to Germany and I should use Amazon.de instead. The seller was Amazon by the way, not some third-party marketplace seller who might decide he does not want to ship abroad.
I can (and have) in the past ordered from Amazon DE/FR/UK/IT/ES without issues, including Lego. Also from the US and JP.
I cannot speak for Finland, but according to Amazon's own FAQ pages, they do deliver to Finland.
Usually Amazon's restrictions about sending products to a different country are related to local stock levels, local promotions, or local regulations. E.g. Amazon DE will not send alcohol outside Germany and Austria.
Sometimes however it might be more about steering you to the Amazon site in your home country - e.g. Amazon NL does not want to send me Lego in LUX, but does if I change the address to BE. So the same might have applied in your case, which is unfortunate. Usually Amazon DE has the better prices, but there are regular occasions where Amazon FR does.
I ordered just before midnight on Sunday. Much to my surprise I recieved an email from Lego on Monday lunchtime to say the order had been shipped... yet still no tracking details have emerged.
Obviously I appreciate there are delays at the moment with Brexit and Covid and I can wait, but Im wondering if the lack of tracking information is because of those issues or just a blunder on DPD's part? It did seem too good to be true for the order to actually be shipped so quickly?

Obviously I appreciate there are delays at the moment with Brexit and Covid and I can wait, but Im wondering if the lack of tracking information is because of those issues or just a blunder on DPD's part? It did seem too good to be true for the order to actually be shipped so quickly? "
I ordered just after midnight; it shipped yesterday and I do have a tracking number. Still stuck in the DPD warehouse in Belgium though; hopefully not for as long as for the January 1st orders!
I was at Lego.com shortly after midnight on the 1st of Feb, and placed an order that did NOT contain the Medieval Blacksmith set (lack of money combined with no set-specific GWP; this has been an expensive period for new Lego sets!) but was large enough to get both GWPs. This relatively small order is already shipped, with both GWPs listed on the invoice. I've currently received everything from 5 out of my 7 most recent previous orders, the exceptions being a set of Road Plates and the Diagon Alley set which I ordered knowing it would be a backorder. Many of the sets on my wish list are now available as backorders--but not the ones I most want, which include the Cantina and the Police Station. Also the Easter Bunny is still not even listed as Coming Soon. I just hope it will be....

Their notification emails do seem a bit hit and miss. I didn't get any dispatch notes for my 2 orders, but they show up as shipped, with tracking numbers on lego.com. They also show up on the DPD app, if you use that. (Now languishing In transit, Mechelen, as expected)

What you don't see is all the people that just opt to "let it slide" so as to not make a fuss, or risk sparking a flame war, but who silently hold an opinion on the matter."
One reason why I limit my online interactions these days, but YMMV.
Just checked my email, and my order for MB shipped and is on it's way! So all is good. As I said, everyone needs to be patient, Lego will provide. :D
Ordered soon after midnight. One GWP in cart and checkout, but both in confirmation email. DPD email today saying will be delivered tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

People are just spoilt... It wasn't that long ago that the only alternative to shops was mail order, which invariably stated, 'Allow 28 days for delivery'!
@Adamskibrick:
Since I signed up for Informed Delivery with USPS, I've gotten a bit spoiled, as USPS now notifies me of updates to delivery status for tracked packages, and provides me with a list of expected deliveries for daily 1st Class mail. I get nothing from FedEx, which is how they ship LEGO.com orders. I did realize recently, however, that once they send you a shipment notification, that e-mail continues to show updated status all the way until the shipment is delivered. You don't have to click a link to open a new page or anything. I mean, you do still have to remember to check the e-mail regularly, as it won't issue new updates, but it's better than nothing.
@sjr60:
They've gotten better in recent years. It used to be I could place three orders in quick succession, get order confirmations for two of them, and get shipped notification for only the third. When their system got too overloaded, it appeared to lose track of what outgoing messages it had to send, and some of them would slip through the cracks. I can't remember the last time I had that happen, though. Now I get separate e-mails thanking me for the order, giving me the receipt for the order, and informing me when the order has shipped, on top of update messages letting me know if something will be backordered.

"Still waiting for mine here in the UK, even though I ordered on the 1st. There were no GWPs added at the time, but I got an email today that stated theyve sent me the Year of the Ox special separately and that theyve added 1600 VIP points in lieu of there being no more Valentines GWPs left. Ah well. The curious thing about all this, is that the original parcel with the Blacksmiths has been in Oldbury DPD warehouse for the last 7 days according to the tracking... "
mine hasn't turned up yet either. ordered on the 1st and looking at tracking,its been in oldbury now for 11 days. the thing is they sent me the ox separately and i received it 2 days after them shipping it.
