Buy 4 and you got yourself a castle!

By in Australia,

I remember, I was in the city one weekend (my best friend won tickets to the premier screening of "Revenge of the Sith" and because it was a worldwide simultaneous release, we were some of the first people in the world to watch it) and on my trip home, I stopped past a toy shop and saw this guy and thought, why not? There's not much to the set (just a wall section and a couple of doors), but I liked it for what it was.

Rascus and Santis charge into battle with their swords drawn...

As Jayko sprints straight off the edge of the wall, knocking over a cauldron full of bricks on his way down.

When looking in the instructions, the ends have 2x2x3 slopes, so you can't even make a bigger wall! I mean sure, it's LEGO, you can always make a bigger wall, but certainly you would want to make a set like this modular in some capacity so that with multiple sets you could make an impressive barrier for your territory. I mean, shoot $20? That's absolutely feasible for multiple purchases to make a barrier wall.

Fabuland cauldrons are the best.

@Zordboy:
You didn't have midnight screenings? I can't remember if they allowed advance screenings the evening before, but that would also have allowed hundreds of thousands of US moviegoers to beat you to the punch.

I remember for Ep1, Studio 28 (the world's first megaplex, with 20 screens) in Grand Rapids, MI had something like half a dozen screens dedicated to showing that film 24 hours a day from midnight on opening day through the end of opening weekend, and during regular business hours through the rest of opening week. They seated an insane number of people for that film during that first week.

Knights Kingdom II swords are awesome

By in Puerto Rico,

This is suppossed to be the wall that protects a kingdom from Vladek, the green knight (or was it the red) lives unsaid kingdom. I bought Vladek siege tower and sadly missed out on this cute and useful set.

The international dateline means that places like New Zealand or the eastern seaboard of Australia are, like, 18 hours in front of the US. So my midnight screening was almost a full day ahead of the American midnight screenings.

Besides that, the tickets my best friend won were for an advanced screening at 6:30 in the evening, which was 6 hours before the midnight screenings.

Ah. You mentioned shopping on the way home, indicating that businesses were still open. That's not something you'd expect at 2-3am in most places, which is what got my attention.

By in Canada,

My brother had this, and I got Vladeks Seige engine for Christmas the one year. I totally got the better half, and the more useful one for Blacktron.

Biggest problem we had with this, was if the wall wasn't angled on it's hinge, it tipped over quite easily, especially when Vladek got to work. Could knock over the whole wall with no effort

Gravatar
By in United States,

It's certainly a castle wall, all right.

Gravatar
By in Albania,

Looks like a half of 6062 Battering Ram, omitting the attacker’s faction with the siege engine

Don't worry... Mexico will pay for it. It's an incredible wall. Everyone says so.

By in Netherlands,

Not bad , but still has some influences of 1998/2000s Ninja/Castle theme builds using mostly brick bases.

Great parts tho.

After the 2016 Nexo Knights 70324 I was hoping for more Expansions to the theme in terms of Castle parts but sadly that never came.

Meanwhile, Harry Potter does have their Hogwarts sets consist of modules using pins to re-arrange them , so maybe one day we'll see more Castle again , or via Creator 3-in-1.

By in United Kingdom,

I have the three minifigures from this set in my display collection though with different swords and no shields.

In the main box art, they are all left handed. But in the banner on the top right of the box, they are shown as right handed. Ambidexterity anyone?

Castle version of the Kai, Jay and Lloyd? Neat. Didn’t know this existed. Look pretty cool actually

Except for the crossguards which wil cost you your swordarm

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

This was one of the times during my dark ages when I looked back at Lego and saw these Power Rangers looking "knights" with their foam rubber looking swords and that awful box art photography/rendering they did at the time, and I went right back into 3 more years of no Lego.

In hindsight I guess it's not really all *that* bad. But I still don't feel like I missed anything here.

By in United States,

The real question is--do the knights have elemental powers?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

This is a useful expansion set to 8781 and 8780, and ok its own. There were some fantastically designed Knights Kingdom II castles 8877, 8813, 8822, 8823, 8876 which are usually overlooked both in publicity and price compared to the vintage castles. These would all look great together if anyone has links please share.

By in Netherlands,

Ah, the Knights Castle wall. This set could hinge the doorway tower and wall sections. The wall featured a couldron that can flip over with bricks to launch on the enemy if they use the bridge of 8800 Vladek's Siege engine (that came in a co-pack with this). The main gate is barred, so the battering ram can batter it open. On the top of the tower is a chrome gold disk, which can fit on the shields as a magic powersource.
The set is chunky and sturdy if you put it in an L-shape, but lacks in details on the inside.

If you get 4777 Vladek Encounter, you also get Danju to complete the four knights.

I've seen some people call the minifigs 'jellybean knights'. They weren't elemental or anything, their kingdoms just heavily featured in their colour scheme. They did have special traits. Jayko (blue) is the fast one, Danju (purple) smart/wise, Santis (red) strong, Rascus (green) agile. This was exemplified in the play features in the main sets.

Looks 4+ like.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

At least the little sections of wall from classic castle had connection pins so you could snap them onto other walls or into castles. This would take effort to clip on to something substantial

Yeah, shame the only other place they were used was Vikings.

If knights was revived someday I would hope it wouldn't take inspiration from this

Actually, you could get this set in a dual-pack with 8800, which essentially gave you the whole set ^^

I know this subtheme is looked down upon by the fandom, but I got that dual pack, 65527, in the after-Christmas sales in 2004 and I enjoyed it a lot at the time. The castle + battering ram combo was very fun to play with - though the use of *cardboard shields* to form the sides of the battering ram made it unfortunately rather fragile -, and the addition of a couple of chrome-gold parts made them cooler than they would have otherwise been; and I, for one, enjoyed the fact that the knights had specific characters and personalities... as a kid, I would always prefer to play with the identifiable character minifigures, rather than their predecessor smiley-face guys.

This set itself had no basis in the theme's storyline: in-story, Vladek was advisor to the king of the land of Morcia, who took over the kingdom when King Mathias "mysteriously" disappeared on the eve of his decision not to retire quite yet. Vladek announced a tournament to choose a new king - a tournament that he planned to rig in his favour with magic. The hero knights, determined to return the kingdom to its rightful ruler, set out across the land to find the Citadel of Orlan (8780), within which lay the mythical Heart of the Shield of Ages, the only magical artefact with the power to oppose Vladek. Ultimately, they succeeded, Jayko (the blue knight here) used the Heart to defeat Vladek, and returned King Mathias to the throne.

In-story, Vladek never had a battle ram - at least, not in the first year, in which this set supposedly took place - and the knights never defended a castle wall from him. But hey, it was a fun scene, so I wasn't going to complain xD

Plus, even if the story itself was kind of basic, the Knights' Kingdom II comic had a pretty cool bit of theme music: https://youtu.be/EaPOOzNSVOg

By in Croatia,

I always got the impression that the Action Figure versions of those knights were always the main selling point of this theme, as most of the normal minifig-based sets were kind of half-baked. Still, we got some really cool pieces from this line, like the already mentioned sword pieces.

Perhaps your neck was getting itchy, or maybe it was time for school pictures and your mother wanted you to look nice ; )

@Zander:
That’s a quirk of the larger, brick-built versions. Most people are right-handed, but the sword action feature was designed in such a way that if you held the character with your right hand and spun the thumb wheel on back, the sword arm would whack you on your index finger. So to make the play feature easier to use, the large knights had left-handed action (since this was sealed inside the torso, you didn’t even have the option of changing it). The artwork was matched to the set design, and you ended up with an entire kingdom of left-handed knights.

@ClassicDragon:
Yes. They had the power to produce an endless supply of jellybeans in their own specific flavor. It comes in handy around this time of year...

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I played with this set so much! I loved the first wave of Knights Kingdom mini sets. You got this one, the cheap one with Danju and the villain bartering ram all for under £40! Put them all together and you had a great collection full of play value

Gravatar
By in United States,

Did the red one and the blue one switch swords?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Man it's been forever since I've read any Knights Kingdom II stuff but here's the lore I remember:

The kingdom of Morcia long lived in peace and harmony, until the dark lord Vladek rose to power. King Mathias assembled a team of noble knights from across the land to travel across the kingdom and stop Vladek's reign of terror. Jayko the Brave Falcon, Santis the Strong Bear, Rascus the Playful Monkey, and Danju the Wise Wolf

Jayko the blue knight and Jay the blue ninja? Jayko is fast and Jay is the ninja of lightning?

I was never into the larger versions and paid them no attention, so didn’t know that. Thanks for clarifying ;~)
