76391 Hogwarts Icons: Collector's Edition was announced earlier this month and scheduled for release on the 2nd of September.

Unfortunately, the North American release has been delayed until the 15th of September, following shipping delays in the US. However, the set will be available for pre-order on LEGO.com, from the 2nd of September.

The release date for Europe and the Asia-Pacific regions remain unchanged. You can read our review of this unusual model here.

By in United States,

So very, very disappointed. I’ve been counting the days to release since images first leaked. Two weeks is quite the “shipping delay”.

Why meeeee?!

By in Italy,

Not necessarily a bad thing - the September calendar is shockingly bereft of any good GWPs. If you could hold out purchasing till Oct, it might be a better month.

Before anyone starts complaining about this: please realize that you’re upset because a $250 toy was delayed 2 weeks. This does not mean that your complaints are invalid. Just try and have some perspective.

By in United States,

The bigger surprise is that the delay was so short. Two weeks has been about the minimum delay on nearly all of the major set releases this year.

Thanks for the update.

Is it $350? Why did I think it was $250? Guess I'll have to take these extra two weeks and throw another $100 on the pile...

The set is $250 USD, or $350 CAD.

It is indeed $250 in the US. I have corrected the comment to reflect the actual price.

By in United States,

At least you can pre-order. I wish that was the case for more of the larger and more expensive sets. Lately if you are not at least in line 2 hours before the Lego Store opens you're screwed. When the Gunship came out there were over 100 people in line before the store even opened.

And? We all get excited over stuff we love. People get upset when something they look forward too a lot is delayed, whatever it is. Even toys. There’s nothing wrong with voicing complaints.

I agree that there's nothing wrong with voicing complaints. The level of vitriol present in Brickset comments sections when this kind of thing occurs, however, is in my view often excessive and more than a bit entitled. I understand and empathize with the frustration, but we shouldn't forget that this is a luxury product that we're lucky to have the means to purchase in the first place.

"It's great living in failed country that can no longer even ship things."

There's a Global Shipping Container shortage currently, and shipping container cost have skyrockted as well.

Basicly containers are parked into ports or stuck on ships, and not freed up/moved compared to normal pre-covid conditions , Car makers had a big Computer Chip shortage too.

This is not a LEGO related issue, or even US specific.

Yes I know LEGO for US market is made in Mexico for the most part, but still , think of the raw materials , there also is a Polymer/Plastic shortage currently.

I still wonder how many of the pieces go into Hedwig.

Fair, but that’s the Internet for ya. I certainly would’ve complained had Ninjago City Gardens been delayed, so I can definitely get it. We do have a bit of an entitlement problem, that’s for sure. Even though it is a luxury item, that has no bearing on the issue. We’re all pretty attached to this brand & themes. I’m not entirely surprised by the delay, it took nearly two weeks just for a set to ship from LEGO.com...I wonder what this particular hold up is.

By in Belgium,

2 weeks!? 2 WEEKS!? Like in 14 days?
You mean I have to wait 14 days before I can spent $250 on a bunch of plastic from a franchise that has been dead for 10 years now?
Seriously!?
This is outrageous!!
A container shortage? You mean a company that made a gazilion-trillion dollar profit can't even bother to buy a couple of containers to have my plastic brick toy shipped to me in time!?
This is like such an epic failure! AGAIN!!
I'm going to sent them a very very strong letter!!
...
...
...
Wait, WHAT? You joking? This typewriter doesn't even work...

By in Portugal,

Bleh, please, please buy them all quickly, need a stock off to have the corrected version of the letter which I´ll buy.

GET OVER YOURSELVES PEOPLE!

I can't believe anyone is seriously upset about a two week delay to get something they didn't even knew existed a couple of months ago.

There are thousands of people displaced from their homes, there are millions of people unemployed, there are earthquakes and hurricanes causing death and destruction of homes and businesses, there are people blowing themselves up to kill other people to draw sympathy for their false cause, and there is a virus spreading the world that makes people sick and causing death.

And you're upset about a rich man's toy being delayed by two weeks? Shame!!! Look around and see how fortunate you are - then reevaluate if you need to be mad. You don't.

Gravatar
By in United States,

All I can say is I hope those who can't understand the frustration of a delay in a "toy" remember their words when something "trivial" occurs in their own life. Maybe that "toy" was a coping measure for someone going through a rough patch in life.

@TeriXeri:
Well, that clears up a mystery for me. The minifig blister packs have been notoriously difficult to pin down, with 40453 originally scheduled for January 1st, but that date passed and the status was changed to “Coming Soon” with no date. When it did finally show up, it was some random day in the middle of the month. Now there’s 40511, which Brickset claims was sold (briefly) in the US, again starting in the middle of the month, and lasting only about a week. It’s still up in Europe, but I can’t even put in for a stock notification in the US, where it’s just listed as “Sold Out”.

By in United States,

Well Owls are a protected species in the US - I am sure they will have to quarantine Hedwig before letting him in.

@mhinck:
Owls are also migratory. If they arrive under their own power, nobody bats an eye. Well, unless a Great Snowy Owl shows up in Hawaii and camps out at the main airport, which did happen a few years ago. The FAA has little tolerance for the hopes and dreams of young children, so it didn’t end well for the owl, as I recall.
