Review: 40523 Easter Rabbits
Posted by Huw,40523 Easter Rabbits Display is the second of this year's seasonal sets that consist of two cute animals on an elaborate display stand.
The first, 40522 Valentine Lovebirds, was found to be faultless in our review, and this one looks pretty good too...
Summary
40523 Easter Rabbits Display, 288 pieces.

Another attractive seasonal set featuring two cute animals on a vibrant display base
- Great value for money
- Looks lovely on display
- Nothing
The set was provided for review by LEGO. All opinions expressed are those of the author.
Like the Lovebirds, the parts in the set are packed in more bags than seems necessary, and comes with two instruction manuals allowing construction to be split between two people. One builds the rabbits, the other the base and decorations.
A variety of curved and cheese slopes have been used to give the lagomorphs an organic appearance, and they both look suitably winsome. Despite their different stances they share the same head and hind leg design.
Other than hinged ears, there's no articulation, but that's enough to change their character from alert to inquisitive.
The base is a vibrant combination of bright green, green and lime green. It's perhaps unnecessarily elaborate and extravagant, but it does look great as a result.
A variety of eggs multicoloured and flowers are provided with which to decorate it. One of the eggs uses a 2x2 dome piece in transparent medium violet opal, a rare colour introduced in 2020.
Which ones you use and where you put them is then up to you...
Like the lovebirds, it's hard to find fault with it. It's perhaps not quite on a par with the parrots though, simply because that one is bursting with colour. Nevertheless, it's well-designed, displays well, full of useful parts, and priced very reasonably for the number of pieces: everything you could want from a LEGO set.
So far the seasonal sets have been exceptional this year, and I can't wait to see what's in store for us at Halloween and Christmas.
40523 Easter Rabbits Display will be available from 1st February at LEGO.com.

This is one of the cutest LEGO sets I’ve ever seen. I may have to pick this one up when it comes out. I also want to get the Lovebirds, just for the Hitchcock reference.
Excellent set but it's hard to tell, is that Europe they're sitting on....
Looking forward to picking this up as part of my package to get the GWP Taxi.
Definitely getting several of these as parts packs. I BrickLinked the opalescent domes last year to use as lampshades in my Orient Express MOC — they were an uncanny match for the actual thing I got to see, but I'm much more interested in all the other parts here. And I mean all of them. Maybe except the eyes. But it includes the dark purple 2x4 brick, and all the flower and egg parts.
This is cute, but not quite as cute as the lovebirds—and in this case, I think I preferred last year's larger, more realistic-looking bunny over these two smaller ones.
Parts-wise it looks decent though, especially with those two opalescent parts!

Yes, I'm in a bit of a quandary whether or not to risk waiting from the 28th release date for the taxi until the 1st for the rabbits (although GWPs running out seems to have been less of a problem since so much else has been out of stock!)

Maybe that's what happened to the Globe. Giant rabbits sat on Europe!
Anyone else think they look like the Aardman Animation rabbits from the Wallace and Grommit film?
Looks so much better than the boring BrickPetz. Nice little vignette and colour choice.
Nice set, I like the bright colours.
One tiny tiny tiny flaw: the ears should not have that pink part on the back (unavoidable probably).
Cute little set, the base might indeed be a bit on the elaborate side, but as it doesn't seem to have had much effect on the price, that's not a complaint at all. €13 seems pretty reasonable for what you get.
There's just one thing on my mind right now though: ZE SMELTEN DE PAASHAAS!!!

if it's anything like 2021, probably will be a while, 2021 had Valentine bear, and Bunny shown.
The Owl and Penguin came much later, no forward mentions on those in the first 2 sets, only backwards.
Easter in January? The climate change accelerates...
Lagomorphs….. well, that’s my new word for today!!
I wonder if that makes us all Legomorphs?!….
;)
Great set. Boy, that means my Easter Rabbits will have doubled in number. I guess I shouldn't have left the two from last year ( 40449 and 40463 ) alone together!
The rabbits are cute and the cool parts makes for a festive set, exploding with Spring.
Looks like a pretty cute set; besides the blatant disregard for the true meaning of the holiday, of course.
