Oh geez, look at that giant tub of Soylent Green.

Chuckie’s Carrion All.

Uh oh, Fabuland is in trouble. I wonder who the first victim in that can is?

Gravatar
By in Italy,

Fabuland on RSOTD is like a warm hug.

Real talk, is Soylent a good drink?

Soylent Green is people my dude and the population just eats it up. Those in the know avoid it.

By in United Kingdom,

I know him as Joe Crow not Charlie.
I have one of the story books that were released and in the story the Fabu Folks are having a party and they use one of those bins to put drink in. Someone (I forget who) falls in head first and has to be rescued by Edward Elephant slurping all the drink out with his trunk. Fantastic/disturbing plot !!

By in Australia,

I guess Charlie's descendants would go from carry-alls to giant raven-mecha.

@MCLegoboy:
Hey, you are what you eat, right? Also, that trash can does seem coincidentally large enough for the poor guy to stand up inside with the lid closed.

@chrisaw:
I’ve never been hugged around the neck before!

By in Canada,

Its funny how the truck has semi logical proportions up until the roof where it all falls apart. Not to mention the mahoosive Charlie Crow vibing in the back.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hah, that is an awful large container, big enough for a fabuland fig.. uh oh...
Actually its a bit telling that at least three people who have commented now have thought of this set as someone burying a body...

Gravatar
By in United States,

I need that garbage can.
(Whooshes over to BrickLink)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Good lord, that garbage can is actually a part?!?

I can’t believe I haven’t seen it used in a MOC somewhere. It’s the weird kind of thing Spacers prided themselves on cramming into a spaceship or mecha circa 2004-2009, or perhaps slightly earlier.

You know what year the Soylent Green film take place in? 2022.

The future is now...

"SOYLENT GREEN IS PEOPLE!"

By in United States,

Y'know, when I hear the term "carry-all," I think of a purse or tote-bag kind of thing, not a vehicle. They should have extended the name by one word: "Charlie Crow's Carry-All Car." Keeps the alliteration going and everything.

A murder of crows. Ha! Good one!

By in Australia,

This is a nice set. (unless you're one of these concerning individuals who are obsessed with dystopian films... XD).

I wish we got more old trucks like this (well, old trucks with proportions that make sense would be even better).

Fabuland would be a really cool theme to return. Give us peaceful life in some English/European village between the wars and let kids enjoy the animals. I'd prefer proper minifigs though. Maybe they could do something similar to Chima and/or some Vidiyo characters but with normal clothes and lovely old houses, shops and vehicles.

I miss the days when minifigures (and Lego animals) just packed up their bricks in their old kit bag and smiled, smiled, smiled...

By in Canada,

*SIGH* Videyo canceled...and we see this...
I know I've treaded this road (or is that water) before: Fabuland could easily make a modern comeback, as a 4+ series. I mean: raid the failed Videyo line for appropriate figures/characters (esp. K-Pawp and Tropicon's Llama guy...and Dragons because Dragons), add/tweak-in stuff from Chima (sans the head-on-a-head system). But alas...no...

By in Netherlands,

The crow and crocodile were my favorite fabuland animals.
The garbage can i now use as a water tank on a roof

Eh, it varies from person to person

Suspiciously yellow beak on that so-called crow.

I smell deceit.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

I love how first impressions people get here are that of murder.

This set photo certainly has something unsettling about it.

A murder of crows MOC? Would that be a MOC MOC?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Seems appropriate that a crow would be involved in scavenging through the waste of Fabuland, and that this is the only set that Charlie appears in as suspicious bad luck follows when lots of crows meet.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I don't like the way he looks at us. It's like he has a yellow head with no face and an aviator helmet. Or is bald and has a yellow mouth mask.

Major My Dad vibes here.
I think that he knows we know too much about that body. We're next!!!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

These comments, lol...

But Fabuland, love it! Was a great step between Duplo and regular Lego, with so many unique parts. Unfortunately didn't have any of the bigger sets, mostly just figs with a few accessories. But hey, everyone with a lot of Fabuland was my friend back then ;-)

One more funny thing is how poorly this set was put together for the official picture. This is how the average set built by my nephew looks, pressing everything together is something he'll probably never learn....

Gravatar
By in United States,

My mother had some fabuland sets. She always liked the Figures and thought that they were cute.

That reminds me of the time I worked in a toy shop and was unpacking the Sylvanian Families sets. I just had this picture of the Polar Bear family moving in next door, to the Sheep family, and then a few days later, the Sheep family goes missing.

A week later, the Polar Bear family invites the neighbours around for a lamb barbecue!

By in United States,

One of the only two LEGO sets my sister ever got. I think they were Christmas presents; she did not end up taking to LEGO. I still have some of the parts, no Charlie unfortunately.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Zordboy:
Oh, geez, you just reminded me of a crazy story I once read about where someone invited his neighbor over for a fish fry, only to end up being arrested for stealing decorative koi worth several thousands of dollars from said neighbor because they thought it would be a funny practical joke. That actually happened, though.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I like it because it has the look of an antique pickup truck. What better to add to the modern-day Lego City than have someone driving down the street in a vintage late 1930s-through-late 1940s-style pickup truck.

Somehow, I think a number of Fabuland sets could – with some accessories and other fixtures – fit in quite well with the current City.

Gravatar
By in United States,

My first set! Been waiting for this to show up on RSOTD for a while :-)

"Aren't crows thieves?"

Nah, you're thinking of the Ravens of Chima. Their character is 'thief that then sell their stuff.' Crows are the smart, social ones. But not Charlie.

He's an omen of death...

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Binnekamp:
Crows may be social with other crows, but there’s truth to the term “murder of crows”. Several years ago, a red-tailed hawk named Pale Male moved into NYC, and naturally decided Central Park was a good place to start a nest. He got chased out by crows. Once he moved to the periphery, they left him alone, but the actual park area was not safe for him. Even a bird as small as a sparrow can pose a danger if they’re faster, more agile, and have zero tolerance for your presence. Having several dozen gang up on you all at once is a good indication that you should get the heck outta Dodge.
