Which characters should join the Helmet Collection?

Posted by ,

LEGO launched the Helmet Collection during 2020 and this range has subsequently grown to comprise eight memorable characters, from the Original Trilogy and The Mandalorian.

These creations provide reasonable variety and look superb when displayed together, although potential for further additions undoubtedly remains. We would appreciate your suggestions for an upcoming poll, but should consider an unexpected limitation upon the series that the designers revealed during a recent roundtable interview session.

LEGO has inevitably focused upon the most prominent and recognisable Star Wars helmets thus far, although the Dark Trooper has not necessarily achieved status equivalent to the others. However, introducing a droid seemingly expands the scope of the Helmet Collection, since droid heads cannot really be classified as helmets.

I was therefore surprised by Jens Kronvold Frederiksen's response when I asked about the range expanding to include droids during a roundtable interview:

Brickset: 75343 Dark Trooper Helmet is interesting as that is obviously a droid's head, rather than a traditional helmet. Does that mean that the Helmet Collection could encompass C-3PO or a Battle Droid, for example?

Jens: We are unlikely to do that. Technically, the Dark Trooper head is perhaps not a helmet, but we see it as a helmet and belonging within the Helmet Collection. Really, it is in between and we have discussed this internally, but we thought the Dark Trooper was just so cool! Doing something like C-3PO or a character with real personality would probably not happen.

While I can potentially understand avoiding droid heads that hardly resemble helmets, such as Battle Droids or IG-series droids, I cannot easily separate Dark Troopers from Protocol droids. C-3PO could present design challenges though, since he would almost certainly require a large quantity of drum-lacquered gold elements.

Such colour variation would be welcome though. Imperial forces have evidently dominated the series, each consisting almost exclusively of black or white pieces. Vibrant colour is therefore noticeably lacking, so something brighter would be appreciated in future. Additionally, I think producing something from beyond the Original Trilogy period could improve the series, given its focus currently remains relatively narrow.

Which characters would you like to join the Helmet Collection in future? Share your selection in the comments. We will forward the most popular submissions to a poll later this week.

Phase 1 and Phase 2 clone troopers, obviously. Commander Cody, Captain Rex. Then maybe a First Order stormtrooper.

Gravatar
By in Greece,

Death Trooper!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I would think they would do Kylo Ren at some point. There is also the clone trooper phase I and phase II helmets.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Sith Trooper would add some vibrant color to the line of predominantly black/white helmets.

Gravatar
By in Hungary,

Shoretrooper helmet. Unique color, unique shape.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

For Imperials, I would like to see a Shoretrooper helmet.

I am sure a Clone helmet would be popular, especially a named character like Rex or Cody.

For the Rebels, I would like to see the Endor helmet, although it is quite open faced so may be harder to do effectively.

I would also like to see it expanded to aliens, a Tusken Raider might be achievable.

Gravatar
By in United States,

it would be cool to have a go-brick-me-esc P1 and P2 clone helmet for maybe $80 with a bunch of extra pieces to, for example, make a basic P2 clone helmet into a Cody helmet. Also I know this article was asking about star wars helmets, but I'd love a spider-man helmet/mask set

Gravatar
By in United States,

I think an obvious choice from the original trilogy is a snow trooper helmet. And, if they decide to venture into the sequel trilogy, Kylo Ren is another obvious one.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I really wish they made the AT-AT pilot helmet. A snowtrooper helmet could be cool, and same with a veers/AT-ST pilot one. Maybe Kallus too?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Kylo Ren, Death trooper, Imperial Cadet helmet (Rebels series), Sith trooper, snowtrooper, first order snow trooper, royal guards, senate commandoes, Phase 2 Rex and Cody, Scarif Stormtrooper (shore trooper), Clone Commando or potentially the Bad Batch in some part, Phase 1 ranking clones (e.g. sergeant (green), captain (red), commander (yellow), lieutenant (blue)), Bo Katan (bigger change than Boba or Mando), Poe Dameron Resistance helmet to name a few.

Ps. didn't mean to copy anyone, published when there was only 1 comment, looks like helmets are popular

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The Cloud Car Pilot has a distinct, if unremarkable, helmet.
AT-AT driver is probably the most obvious one.
Snow Trooper maybe?
LEGO minifigs have nicely formed and decorated helmets for A-Wing and B-Wing pilots, though the original ones they're based on don't actually seem all that inspiring for a display model.
Maybe an Imperial Kyber Trooper helmet could add a bit of much-needed colour to the range!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Clone trooper is the smart money, but my personal preference is for the other Rebel starfighter helmets. Kylo Ren is another relatively safe choice.

It's a stretch for multiple reasons, but if murderdroid heads are on the table, I think HK-47's time has come.

Gravatar

Clone Troopers for sure, but also Jango, Deathwatch, and Mauldalorian helmets would all make neat additions. Senate and Imperial Royal Guards would be a nice addition too.

Gravatar

How about the Imperial Guard, I think the red would be spectacular as a helmet

Gravatar
By in United States,

Phase 2 Captain Rex, Phase 1 Clone Trooper, Death Trooper, Death Trooper, Tusken Raider.

One of Ezra's painted Imperial helmets or one of Sabine's helmets would be really cool, but I doubt they'll be made.

Boussh(Ubese Helmet), tusken raiders, Fennec Shand. Those should bring a little bit of colours to the mix.

By in United Kingdom,

Not really a fan of these, but if they're looking for new ideas, they could do a whole series of personalised Clone Trooper helmets (Rex, Cody, Wolffe etc) various different Mandalorian helmets (Mandalore, Bo-Katan, Armourer erc) and some more Imperial helmets (SNowtrooper, Shoretrooper, Death Star gunner)
Could also do a run of bounty hunters, like Boussh, Fennec and Jango Fett

Gravatar
By in Japan,

Grievous, Rex, Cody, Death Trooper, generic Phase I or II clone trooper.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

The only characters I could see LEGO actually doing

Prequel
-Phase 1 Clone Trooper (Customizable included)
-Battle Droid
-Phase 2 Clone Trooper (Alternative build instructions released for free)
-General Grievous

Original Trilogy
-Snowtroopers
-Royal Guards
-Shoretroopers

Sequel
-Kylo Ren

A lot of the other helmets are more niche helmets and less likely to have wide fan appeal. Sequel characters aren't that popular but a Kylo one would likely sell well.

I also don't see them directly including helmets for named clone characters but could see alternative sticker sheets or as mentioned like a "go brick me" version where it includes a few different options in different colours and you get to choose one. Like have white, blue, orange, and red included.

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

Tusken Raider, Sidon Ithano, Knights of Ren, Enfys Nest, Kylo Ren....this list could go silly long now

Gravatar
By in Ireland,

oh and Ubese Helmet

Gravatar
By in United States,

Captain Rex and Captain Fordo, Phase one or two. I'd also love something as colorful as Sabine's helmet, from any season

Gravatar
By in United States,

My go to might be the Shoretrooper. Trilla Suduri (second sister, Fallen Order) or purge troopers would also be very cool. Oh, and the Jedi Temple guards!

Of course, though, any Mandalorian or Clone helmet is more than welcome. I've seen many suggestions for Boushh or a Tusken Raider, and those seem cool, too.

And, not technically a helmet, but Embo's hat would be really nice.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Not a big Star Wars fan so don't have a wishlist for these. Instead I sort of googled around and put together a list of what I think LEGO is likely to release, based on the demographics they're going for:

Kylo Ren (obvious choice, popular character)
Imperial Red Guard (seems in line with their "villains sell" mentality)
Tusken Raider (if they can get it to not look too boxy or derpy)
Lando Calrissian (looks cool + nostalgia + popular character (I hope))
Boushh (memorable + nostalgia)
Clone Trooper (I don't know much about Star Wars between 1990 and 2015 so I don't know which version they would do, but these seem to be popular and a bonus is that you can do some recolors and sell the same product to the same people more than once with minimal redesign)
Jango Fett (palette swap existing sets and print money)

But ultimately I do think they will prioritize characters that, all other things being equal, can be palette swapped or minimally redesigned for new SKUs. That's what I would do if I had that kind of money machine.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I would not be disappointed if they made the full Bad Batch. My wallet would be.

Gravatar
By in Czechia,

Definitely snowtrooper, Jango Fett and Captain Phasma. And some red helmets will be nice - so imperial guard and sith trooper. And shore trooper to have another helmet in more interesting colour than black and white.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

How about... literally anything from the prequel trilogy?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I love all these suggestions! When the poll comes out, it's going to be impossible to pick my favorite one! I wonder if the technology allows for a checkbox poll instead of radio button one?

Gravatar

C3po with lots of drum lacquered gold pieces!

Ideas:

ROTJ Y-Wing Helmet
Various Clone Helmets
Naboo Starfighter helmet
Naboo Royal Guard helmet
Cad Bane's hat
Fennec Shand helmet
Bo-Katan helmet
Grievous Kaleesh mask

Gravatar
By in Hungary,

Snowtrooper
Hoth Rebel trooper
AT-AT driver
AT-ST driver
Royal guard
Boussh
Endor Rebel Trooper
Shoretrooper
Kylo Ren
Fennec Shand
A-wing driver
B-wing driver
First Order trooper
Clone troopers

Gravatar
By in United States,

Clone Troopers have to be the future; there are so many designs they could go with. One not mentioned yet would be Commander Gree with his silver, dark green, and camo bringing a super unique and vibrant color scheme.

Gravatar
By in United States,

General Grievous!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Imperial Gunner has a very cool helmet, and that would be a challenge to do in Lego.
Clone Trooper, but I think they're aiming for a non-specific character, so any generic Trooper helmet would be OK.
Leia's Boushh helemt from RotJ

Gravatar
By in United States,

Of course this is the same Lego group that suggested the Gunship didn't need to come with any minifigs and they just added some for fun (not the ones that fans wanted)... So the Dark Trooper continues the design philosophy... Only the BES.... whatever goes!

By in Sweden,

I'd like to see the classic Castle helmets, the barred face one, the wide splayed one, the dragon masters with the dragon shape on top.

I'd also enjoy an Ice Planet helmet, since it would work similar to Luke's with the visor.

Gravatar

Samus Aran...

Gravatar
By in France,

Wow so many choices to pick from. My favorites would be
Anakin's pod race
Leia's boushh
Sabine's painted helmet

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'd really like C-3PO, but it would be awkward... The real character would be like 'please kind human, where is my body? I do not like this!' Also, apparently, the Dark Trooper can be used as armor, so there's LEGO's out.

Gravatar
By in Italy,

Seeing a Clone Commando helmet would be awesome

Gravatar

None. These helmets suck. I don't collect heads, I collect minifigs (and sets of course).

Gravatar

First one that popped into my head was Fennec, but I'd also absolutely love phase 1 and 2 clone troopers

Gravatar

For color, Imperial and/or Praetorian Guard.
On the subject of Rogue One stuff though - I don't think anyone mentioned Tank Trooper helmet yet. Always liked that one.

An afol after my own heart, I see.

I'd love to see a classic space helmet with, like a radio on a stand, but Ice Planet with a helmet and chainsaw model would slay me.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Dark Helmet!
"So, Lone Star, now you see that evil will always triumph, because good is dumb."

Gravatar
By in Poland,

A very interesting statement.

I've thought about it a bit, and I think LEGO will stay with the original trilogy for the moment. The sets from the Sequel Trilogy are, in my opinion, unlikely, because most adult fans didn't like them. For the same reason, Bad Batch sets are also unlikely.

Snowtrooper, AT-AT / AT-ST driver, Imperial Gunner, Death trooper and Royal Guard are in my opinion the most likely of the Original Trilogy. And maybe Rebel Fleet Trooper.

It will be a while yet, but perhaps in 2024 we will see Prequel Trilogy helmets. The most likely in my opinion are Phase I Clone Trooper and Phase II Clone Trooper, probably the 501st legion, because it was popular. I suspect that Rex is impossible due to the rather complicated helmet ornaments. Cody is much more likely, especially because of the characteristic binoculars. Also, I'd love to see the Airborne Clone Trooper Helmet.

Besides all this, the Fennec Shand helmet is potentially likely, due to her appearances in The Mandalorian and Book of Boba Fett.

I am waiting for more photos of the collection!

Gravatar

Leia's Danish pastries.
Luke's ROTJ Hair.
Llando's Bouffant.

A clone (maybe the hot topic known as Cody?).
C-3P0 would be cool to see.
Grievous' head could reimagined well into LEGO I guess.

I think it is about time that the prequels get some love

To be fair, my wallet would prefer they do none of this. Same with all my display shelves, which have overflowed onto every level surface. I suppose if they do it, I'll settle for appreciating them and seeing what fun things people do with them.

By in United States,

I’m gonna go with a really odd choice, and say the first helmet Luke wears in the OT. We never really get any explanation for why it happened to be on the Falcon in the first place, or why it was stored in what is basically the rec room, but it is arguably one of the most important helmets of the OT.

After that, give Jango some love, go weird with the Death Star Gunner helmet, and Anakin’s podrace helmet might make an interesting design.

But what I expect they’ll do is AT-AT Driver, AT-ST Driver/Veers, Royal Guard, Snowtrooper, and Death Star Trooper for the Imperials. For the Rebels, there’s other deco for the X-Wing/Y-Wing helmet, plus A-Wing, B-Wing, Rebel Fleet Troopers, and Echo Base Troopers. For other groups, there’s Cloud Car Pilots, Boushh, Lando’s skiff Guard disguise, and a few of the Cantina patrons and Jabba’s Palace denizens had helmets that might be interesting. For the PT, there’s Naboo pilot, a host of Clonetrooper helmets, and you could argue that Greivous has a helmet. Get into animation, and there are several other Mandalorian helmets they could go for.

Outside of SW, I’d buy Deadpool and Harley Quinn in a heartbeat. There are several alternate Batman coals and helmets they could do, like the TDKR or BvS armored helmets, a dark-blue cowl, or Batman Beyond. Firefly, Mr. Freeze, and Scarecrow could make interesting helmets. Black Mask probably wouldn’t. Flash is the only other original JL member who has anything resembling a helmet. Ranging further afield, you know Benny’s helmet would sell like crazy.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I think Boushh's helmet or a red Imperial Guard would look neat.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I know it won't happen, but I'd like to see some helmets from Star Wars Rebels. Specifically Sabine's helmet and Ezra's painted Scout Trooper helmet. The Imperial Cadet helmet might also be interesting. Kanan's mask or a temple guard helmet would be nice.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Glacier_Phoenix:
When did Shoretroopers appear in the OT?

@Librarian1976:
Won’t happen. Even though the 1st Amendment protects works of parody, and Spaceballs absolutely qualifies, Brooks pre-agreed to forego merchandising the film to avoid any risk of being sued by Lucasfilm. Once agreed, they are now bound to those terms, and Disney could sue them if they fail to abide by them. Spaceballs is owned by MGM, which is currently in the process of being swallowed up by Amazon.

Gravatar
By in Portugal,

Original Trilogy: snowtrooper seem to be the most obvious trooper helmet left. I feel like it would've gone well with the Hoth wave they did this year but oh well. I also think a Royal Guard would work and would add a bit of vibrancy to the line, although its design might be a bit simple

Prequel Trilogy: obviously a phase 1 and 2 helmet. For the phase 2 helmet, since there's lots of plain white helmets already, it would be cool to have either a 501st version or a 212th version. Alongside that Commander Cody would be great, and I think it's more likely than a Captain Rex because he wasn't in any movies. The droids and Grievous would've been great but I guess that isn't happening.

Sequel Trilogy: Kylo Ren. I'd prefer the episode 7 version (coz I hate episode 9) but I could see them doing the latter in order to get some red in there. First Order Stormtrooper / Sith Trooper are a little less important because there's much more iconic storm/clone troopers to do, including Phamsa

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I would love to see both phases of clone helmet, making them a named character would add some colour. As others have said, Shoretrooper would be nice, as would the Imperial Guard, both of which would add some nice colour.

On the less likely/more complicated end, I'd like to see a Rebel Fleet Trooper, although I can imagine the smoothness would be spoiled

Gravatar
By in United States,

Dengar's bandages. Nah just kidding. Id like to see the helmet Luke wore on the Falcon when Obi-Wan was training him. Death Squad Trooper, Rebel Fleet Trooper, Imperial Royal Guard, Endor Rebel Helmet or a Clone from Kashyyyk Would be awesome. If they did Droids Id like General Grievous. Also I can sorta see the Dark Trooper because they started out Human so maybe they were originally Helmets

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Bee Hive Trooper Helmet!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Clone troopers obviously. Royal guards. Kylo Ren, Jango, Maul mando, probably some from the good guys as well, not just the villains. Not sure if droid heads would count. Probably not. But yeah shouldn't only limit to helmets. Maybe just add a head line...

Gravatar
By in Estonia,

Sith trooper or Elite Praetorian Guard helmet.
And it is of utmost importance they'd be only available at Comic-Con, since it is the most convenient way to obtain quirky IP-based sets and complete one's collection. Well, I might be wrong, but I want to trust the company's judgment on these matters.

Helmets I'd love to see (in no particular order)

Captain Rex
Commander Cody
Jango Fett
Clone Trooper (Phase I)
Clone Trooper (Phase II)
Royal Guard
Sabine Wren
Death Trooper
Shoretrooper
Snowtrooper
AT-AT Pilot
Wedge Antilles
Biggs Darklighter
Kylo Ren (non-reforged)
First Order Stormtrooper
First Order Flametrooper
Captain Phasma

Gravatar
By in United States,

AT-AT driver is the first thing that comes to mind. And this is a personal niche interest of mine, but if they continued releasing Rebel pilot helmets (Biggs, Wedge, Gold Leader, Red Leader), I would be down...I'd prefer that they rely solely on printing and avoid stickers whenever possible.

As others have mentioned, Boushh seems like a solid choice. And someone else mentioned ROTJ Y-Wing pilot helmets, which have potential. Possibly A-Wing/B-Wing pilot helmets as well. I'd say yes to a Snowtrooper, but that might be difficult to pull off at larger scales. The facemask is a lot of canvas/cloth But, if you do that, you pretty much have the basis for an AT-ST driver helmet as well. I would say Tusken Raider, but those bandages might be hard to pull off.

I'm more of an OT guy, but they could get some mileage out of an Assault Tank Commander/Transport Trooper helmet. Lots of clone variants to be done. Clone ARC-170 or V-Wing pilots. Rex and all the important captains. 501st. Shocktroops, etc. Jango and various other Mandalorians.

The comment about avoiding characters with real personality is odd. Do Carnage, Venom, Batman and Darth Vader somehow not fit the category they’re describing? C-3PO was the first that came to mind considering post-Dark Trooper options. I have Boba Fett, which I feel is one of the few that’s translated well to this format. (The battle-damaged look of Boba’s helmet and armor in the OT makes the studded texture work…Unlike basically every other helmet which would benefit from smooth tiling.) Luke’s X-Wing helmet looks pretty good as well…Just don’t find the over-emphasis on monochromatic subjects all that appealing.

Ahhh, but it always depends on what the actual terms actually say. Furthermore, I know these things to be true,'nothing is forever ' and 'money will always find a way'. You are undoubtedly correct, nevertheless, but I would like that Dark Helmet. It makes me laugh just to think of it!

As far as SW goes, cannot really add anything to the great suggestions already. I have all the rest of them (including the 3 Marvel ones). You know I won't be able to stop buying, now. They really need to keep up the cool designs and stay away from easy passes like Batman (the only one I refused). Don't make empty hats!

I'd love a Rex helmet but with the design we'd get lame stickers.
Royal Guard in red (not blue) would certainly look great.
Kylo Ren's helmet before he bashed it in a tantrum.
Phase 1 clone.
Zorii Bliss
Fenic Shand

It's a ridiculous answer they give about not doing C-3PO.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

AT-AT Pilot, making the new Hoth sets complete.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Personally I think C-3PO would be the best option, but I don't think they'd be able to do it justice with the proper shaping, let alone the drum lacquered parts. The Infinity Gauntlet at least allowed some dark tan and blended pretty well.

As for other SW universe actual helmets...Jango seems likely since everyone enjoys a Mandalorian.

I'd think Poe's helmet could work since they just did Luke's.

Kylo's makes huge sense considering he was a main antagonist.

But I agree, need something with a bit of color to stand out instead of more black or white options.

I’ve been seeing a shirt design that features the Ep5 bounty hunters line up as their Kenner action figures, so when there was still the possibility of droid heads, that’s the first place my brain went...and then I saw Dengar on the left. Forgot about Bossk, too. I’m really not sure what we’d be able to get for Zuckuss, since I don’t really know how much, if any, of that is his actual head.

@StyleCounselor:
The thing is, there might not be a paper contract, but Hollywood does operate on handshake and verbal deals, and producers have successfully sued actors who told someone they’d be willing to take a particular role only to have a change of mind before putting it on paper. Regardless, the only official Spaceballs merchandise I’ve ever seen is copies of the movie and soundtrack. Ironically, considering the “merchandising” scene, any Spaceballs shirts or (yes, really) pandemic facemasks are unlicensed. I would love to see a Spaceballs LEGO theme, but I’m not even going to slow my breath down for that one.

I didn't see anyone suggest a Senate Commando like those from 75088 Maybe they are called something else? Blue would add color and it's a great looking helmet.

I may be in the minority, but I think there are enough.

By in United States,

While Venom and Carnage might not be in the “Helmet Collection”, I think Marvel has enough marketing power to warrant inclusion. MCU helmets could include:

War Machine
Ant-Man
Spider-Man (probably tricky due to webs)
Star-Lord
Classic Cap with wings
Black Panther
Classic Thor with wings
Wasp
Hela (would love to see how they would do it)
Raimi Green Goblin
Ultron (I suppose this is a “droid”)
Zemo with purple mask glued on

You can do an At-At pilot by recoloring the Tie Fighter Pilot.

I think Clone helmets would be amazing display pieces and I'd love it if they made versions for the 501st or 212st troopers

By in Poland,

How many times does this have to be repeated? LEGO will not do Rex, they have a problem creating a regular figure! And even if they did not, the complicated ornaments on the upper part of the helmet hatch it.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

At some point you've got to have a clone trooper helmet, I think Phase 1 might look better just because that fin would distinguish it a bit from the stormtrooper. You could also do those big sink basin helmets the rebel troopers have but I suspect that would just be a lot of space on a stand

The only element that I do not like about in this series is the studs, thus making the whole design idea less attractive (to me). Unfortunately I only notice the studs due to the large proportion of it, i.e. the ratio vs the size of the helmets themselves. It gets worst when 8 helmets are put together, while the Luke Skywalker (Red Five) Helmet being an exception from this perspective... Anyway, as shown in the prior comments it looks to become a popular series.

I bloody love Jar Jar - now C3PO, I could get behind that.

As for the helmets, honestly, I've enjoyed them all so far, and Lego's selection if I'm honest. SW is not short of helmets, so this could be a very very long series.

I've always thought Grievous would be a great choice, and then perhaps a battle droid "helmet" to go with it. Also an Imperial Guard helmet to go with it, and maybe that bone-masked helmet of Lando's from ROTJ.

I love Star Wars but not a fan of this collection so far.. however a C-3PO set would pull me in. In fact I challenge the designers to make the head from The Phantom Menace version of Threepio.

Came here to say exactly this. It's still imperial, but unique in its color and design. Also easily redone into a tank driver for a future release with a simple color swap!

Probably easier than doing a "standard" version of him! Getting all those surfaces in gold would be difficult and/or costly.

I'd go for IG-88...while not a helmet, it would make for a unique piece to have displayed with the others.

By in Finland,

Clone troopers are the obvious ones, of course. Ideally they would be one of the coloured variants (a P1 captain or 501st trooper, for instance), but doing a named clone like Rex or Cody would be just as good.

Outside of that, I agree that colour variation is sorely lacking so far, notwithstanding some of the great designs. To remedy that, I'd suggest either a Sith trooper, a shoretrooper (ideally a captain), Sabine's helmet or even an Imperial royal guardsman.

IMO the Red 5 helmet being open could, er, open up the possibility for something like an Endor rebel helmet or Lando's helmet disguise from the early RotJ scenes.

Finally, one of the Inquisitors. My first thought was the Second (?) Sister from J:FO, but if they pop up in the Kenobi series it could be the perfect time to get one.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Obvious candidates would include a classic Generation 1 Clone, and helmets of specific clones such as Captain Rex, Commander Cody, and a member of The Bad Batch. But other candidates include the helmets of: Kylo Ren, an Imperial Guard, an Inquisitor, Sabine Wren, Bo Katan, Fennec Shand, an A-Wing Pilot, and General Grievous.

And though a bit off topic, I'm calling it now: Marvel helmets for Star Lord and Ant Man!

@Block_n_Roll:
Every one of those would require a new licensing deal except Magneto (under the existing Marvel license) and Leonidas (as a generic Spartan helmet, like how the S2 Spartan Warrior may have been inspired by The 300). The 300 is a copyrighted work, which would require a contract with WB for use of the logo. The comic and film adaption are graphically violent, and unlikely to happen. Judge Dredd, based on the two movies, and what I know of the comics, is less likely to happen because there’s no generic option. Master Chief is right out because it’s from an FPS, and it’s licensed to a different company. For the Black Knight, the nudity featured in Monty Python works may pose a hindrance to licensing, but I don’t recall there being any in that specific movie, so maybe? It would certainly sell, but there’s not much else from the MP library they’d be likely to want to base sets on. And I’ve never even heard of Doomguy, which doesn’t give me much confidence regarding how well it would sell.

Or you could have just said, "Yeah, nice in theory, but not likely to ever happen." Just for once, wouldn't it be good for someone to be able to offer an alternative to Star Wars without being attacked for it?

I'm well aware that all my suggestions present problems, for various reasons, but there are plenty of people out there who'd like to see something other than Star Wars. A wishlist doesn't need to be realistic.

And I'm sorry for not realising that a character from one of the most famous game franchises wouldn't sell because you hadn't heard of it. My bad.

@Block_n_Roll:
Sure, try to throw the blame back at me. I looked up Doomguy (never heard a name for that character before) and that’s from another graphically violent FPS, which they have clearly shown a desire to steer clear of, including by banning FPS content from Ideas consideration.

Read the entire comment section and you’ll see that some of us suggested DC characters, Marvel characters, and original IP helmets. I suggested at least one helmet for all three of those categories, all of which are viable options. There are lists of Marvel characters, one of Classic Castle helmets, and at least one Nintendo character, all of which are viable options. And you come here and, aside from Magneto, the entire list you posted shares graphic violence with exaggerated amounts of bloodshed, only one of which does so in a comical way. I mean, did you expect people to say those were sensible suggestions that stand a good chance of happening? You might as well have suggested the masks worn by Jason, Michael, and Leatherface. Or you could have disarmed your comment by noting that most of them would stand a snowball’s chance of happening.

And out of at least two dozen non-SW helmets that have been suggested here, the only other one I shot down was from Spaceballs, because a lot of people seem to not be aware of Brooks’ agreement to not merchandise the movie and think a Spaceballs theme just needs to a show of support to happen.

By in Australia,

Kylo Ren is the obvious choice (only Sith Lord in the movies besides Vader that has any kind of helmet I believe).

If you want to talk other universes beyond Star Wars, the obvious choice would be a Thor helmet (the way they did the Rebel Pilot helmet shows helmets that are more open can be done). Maybe whatever he is wearing in the new movie (if he is wearing one). Would go great with the Thor Hammer set.

Ant-Man and Magneto are the other Marvel helmets with any kind of recognition but I don't see either being as popular as a Thor helmet. (and we all know the way LEGO treats X-Men...)

By in United States,

@jonwil:
Darth Tantrum is a Sith wannabe. He’s largely self-taught, as there were no remaining Sith Lords to train him. Vader, Sidious, Maul, and Tyrannus were the only four legitimate Sith Lords to appear on the big screen. Tantrum would have sold well enough prior to the completion of the Disney trilogy, but that last film drove home what many of us had been saying from the start, and Disney Trilogy merch doesn’t have quite the selling power it once did, which is why the streaming shows are getting such intense focus these days.

And the X-Men are tricky. Much of the issue was that Fox rightfully refused to just give up rights to the X-Men just because Disney was pressuring them to do so. Disney retaliated by issuing a blanket refusal to approve any movie-based merchandise deals Fox floated, significantly reducing the profitability of the films. They cancelled the Fantastic Four title outright, but X-Men titles were too popular for Marvel to just drop them. Still, they tried to shift focus from the X-Men to first the Inhumans, and later the Eternals (neither to any degree of success). But now that Disney owns 40% of Hollywood, they don’t have any reason to continue their pogrom against the X-Men, so expect to see movies announced at some point followed by merchandise tied into those films.

I’d like to see the collection expanded from just Star Wars to all of Lucasfilm (and after all, they also have similar ones for DC and Marvel, so why not?). Indy’s fedora, various helmets from Willow, etc. could make for a delightful range. I don’t expect it to happen, but it’d be cool.

I've thought about it a bit, and I think LEGO will stay with the original trilogy for the moment. The sets from the Sequel Trilogy are, in my opinion, unlikely, because most adult fans didn't like them. For the same reason, Bad Batch sets are also unlikely."

Wouldn’t that be a reason the Bad Batch helmets are likely, though? I think a much higher percentage of fans who’ve seen the show like it than like the ST (though of course the ST has far greater recognition to begin with…).
