I mean, there are no words to describe such a legend... XD
I wish I got one of those spinners. Too bad I wanted City. For 7 more years. RIP
I was looking at some of these spinners yesterday— interesting.
Was my first idea for a dog name. It didn't go over well.
Crunchy.
@Norikins :
Sounds more like a breakfast cereal's name to me.
Can someone explain this? Anyone?
It would be fun to design a non-LEGO character that's a skeleton with a monocle. How would he attach it? Glue? Bolts? Would he just wedge it in the socket real good?
I'll keep lore short
In the Ninjago universe individuals who died in an embarrassing manor, or a way they could not accept, would come back to life in the Underworld as a Skulkin.
For a long time the Skulkin were ruled by King Samukai, and his generals Kruncha, Nuckal, and Wyplash. Eventually Samukai was overthrown by the dark lord Garmadon who took over as a hidden ruler.
During the events of the Ninjago pilot, Samukai was slain and Garmadon was freed from the Underworld, and so Kruncha took over as king.
Kruncha himself was dimwitted, though not as much so as Nuckal.
Interestingly, in the Ninjago sets Kruncha has an earth-themed loincloth and monocle, while in the show he has a fire-themed cloth and no face accessories.
Chocolate is scrunchous, when it crunches, that’s why I loooooove Nestle Crunch.

A skeleton would wear a loincloth to cover what exactly?
Some of these were worth buying for the minifigs. Some were worth it for the accessories. Some were this guy. If I’d wanted all of the Skulkin, that’s the only reason I can think of why I would have considered buying this.

The hole between its legs, see basically any other LEGO skeleton.
The original Ninjago Skulkin minifigures were actually pretty good. The effort that LEGO put into designing them clearly shows, unlike their remake counterparts from the Ninjago Legacy line...
Kruncha Muncha!

"This was one of the first sets I ever bought knowing it was an investment, along with many of the other spinner sets, when they were 75% off. All sold reasonably well a couple of years later, I think this one got RRP although others with more popular figs went for 1.5x. "
I did that with some 2012 spinners. Even back then in 2013 you could double your money by looking for Lloyd ZX and NRG Jay spinners. I only did this when the writing was on the wall anyway, and I often left some for if others in the area still want to collect them.
As for this set... At the time I found 10 euro too expensive for this. The transparant spinners were nicer looking and more 'realistic' than the solid ones, but him and Wyplash looked too specialized. And the plastic used for these was noticably inferior to regular sets as they were produced in China I think. So unless you reaaaly wanted a character (such as Garmadon or Nya), it was best to just buy a larger set or bot own them at all. The 2012 spinners were a huge improvement and introduced greater customizabilty and better characters, especially those transparent ones.
Had this spinner. My brothers and I were mad about them back in the day.
@NotProfessorWhymzi: You forgot the chocolate.
I found this set randomly at a Walmart in 2018
As a figure design, I like newer the skulkin in 70665 : The Samurai Mech better.
But I might be biased for only collecting Ninjago after 2019.
The Black Skeletons, Green Skull, and Generic Skull that came with season 13 2020 made good use of the newer skull piece.
Ah, the Skulkin-beginning the Ninjago trend of villains who are given individual backstory in some material only to end up a mob of thugs in the show.
But when it still had flesh on its skull was it a bigfig headpiece? Or a jack stone bigfig head? Or a technic figure head? Or a seventies maxi fig head?
