I'm confused... is it a shell or a rock?
Unless it's some 1960's rock-n-roll dance, like "the Twist" or "Mashed Potato": "the Shell Rock"!
Sideways! Everyone from the Rockraiders/Pohatu era knows rocks are supposed to be sliced horizontally!
I don't have any of this piece, but I'd lava to have a couple.

What is a rock if not a shell for other portions of the rock?
(Or like... a geode)
Wow I have all the sets that have this part. Great City subtheme, even with those giant volcano parts. Given the colour scheme, I wonder if it was the successor to Power Miners?
Shell yeah, rock on, Pine Knob!
(Pine Knob is a concert venue in Metro Detroit).
The great advantage of this part you don't have isues with having to many (or few) bottem/top parts.
I still have 4 https://brickset.com/parts/4116926/meteor parts lying around being useless since I lack the other part.
My favourite Shell parts? The ones included in 6503.

2016 Volcano Explorers + 2018 Arctic, mix the lime green and orange parts around, + 2022 Ninjago Crystalized bad guys = new Power Miners!
8962 Crystal King morphs into 71772 The Crystal King!
Heroes in a Shell Rock! Turtle power!
For anyone who owns this part: do the halves stay together from the side, or are they just placed on the bottom studs next to each other?
I know that that hole at the top is for wedging jackhammers in to make it split open, btw.
I didnt know this was actually a new piece in the 2016 sets, I thought it was just a recolor of the horizontally split rock raiders rock

They stay together- one side has an inner flange, the other has an outer flange, so there's just one mold for this part: you use two of these, rather than a left and right. Good design!

Mind! Blown!
Can you fit a minifigure inside these?
