Random set of the day: Fort Legoredo
Posted by Huwbot,
Today's random set is 6762 Fort Legoredo, released during 2002. It's one of 3 Western sets produced that year. It contains 673 pieces and 10 minifigs, and its retail price was US$100.
It's owned by 1,305 Brickset members. If you want to add it to your collection you might find it for sale at BrickLink or eBay.

Nah, this was just a classic re-release, not a Legend. If you want a legendary set that never became a Legend, you want 6769.
Legendary set!
bad price to part cmon kego why make sets so expense? lego pleaseee
I love this set and I wish lego would make a couple throwback sets in a vintage style no need for 18+ display models of an old set, just a classic set with big pieces and alt builds
It's too bad they canned the Western line before releasing the trains (and molded buffalo!) like they originally planned....
I guess technically I missed out on this set twice.
Would love to see it spiritually resurrected a third time in the Creator 3-in-1 theme like they have done for Pirates, Vikings and Castle.
my white whale
My wife got me this for my birthday a few years ago. I have an awesome wife!!!
Legendary set.
I had an old LEGOLAND computer game where you could build this as one of the rides. Legendary set.

This is a great idea!

There was going to be a Western train?
I mean, we got one eventually with the train set from "The Lone Ranger" movie, but still.
That hurts.

@Zordboy:
Toy Story did it first.
One of the sets I want to buy once I win the lottery, as it is a legendary set!
Kevin Hinkle has said this was his favorite set of all time.
Legend has it that this set is, erm...legendary.
Legendary set.
Though I wish to point out a small but humourous detail at the soldier on the black horse - the sword he's "holding" is hovering mid-air!
@Classique I do believe he’s holding the pommel of the sword. Which is a weird choice but I think may technically work.
Legendary set.
A proper classic. Even if its a rerelease, its a rerelease of a classic that kept everything that made it so
So even the re-release used the "Western" name in Europe rather than "Wild West". I'd never noticed that before.

I do not know anything about the train, however I have hold the buffalo mould in my own hands (inside tour Billund) so that is for real at least ;)
Western released during my dark age, but I think they are great sets especially considering all the other bad stuff they released at the time.
Legondary set
Best non-Castle, non-castle, castle ever.
Legendary set right there :)
Could someone tell me what’s the diffrence between this and 6769?
Is it just a EU and US box art diffrence?
Great set. I loved the wild west theme
Legendary set. (No. 20)
@TheLegoFan:
The difference was five years and three months. This is just a straight rerelease. They’d mostly stopped doing dual set numbers years prior, aside from packaging differences like Bionicle mask boxes (NA) vs bags (EU).
My Mom bought me the original for Christmas in 1996 when it first came out. This is such a legendary set (had to say I). Do many good memories, such a great build, I just love everything about this set. It sits proudly in my LEGO room to this day :)
When Western released in 1996, it was a long overdue theme. No new sets after 1997. Why, LEGO, why!?
I like the headquarters brick, just to confirm which building to through the dynamite over the wall at.
The 23 infamous PALISADE WALL 1X6X6 panels, which only appeared in this set and the sheriffs lock-up 6764, which was a great addition to this set. Like the real wild west lasted too short a time.
Legendary set.

Make sure she knows that. (I bet you do.)
A true classic! A true legend! A legassic?
My favourite features in this set are the dual poker setup with one chair on a trapdoor to jail and another chair on a trapdoor to the exit for a quick escape. As it's activated by a rotating table with the cards who's the 'winner' literally depends on how the table turns!
I love it when lego puts that sort of features in sets! The modularity of this set is great too, but boy does it take a large footprint! Especially for the time this thing was super massive!

Have no fear, because these appeared in a lot more sets!
Besides 6755 / 6764 Sheriff's Lock-up it also appears in the brown in the Western set 6765 Gold City Junction, in the Ninja set 6088 Robber's Hideout, the Pirates sets 6249 Pirate Ambush and 6281 Pirates' Perilous Pitfall, and in the Time Twisters set 6497 Twisted Time Train.
These also appeared in white in the Ninja theme in set 6093 Flying Ninja Fortress and 6083 Samurai Stronghold (which I happen to both own). In black it also appears in the rare Ninja sets 3053 Emperor's Stronghold and 3052 Ninja's Fire Fortress.
It even appeared in reddish brown twice: 19 times (!) in the Vikings equivalent of Fort Legoredo: 7019 Viking Fortress against the Fafnir Dragon. And it also appeared in this color in a Spongebob set of all things: set 3832 Emergency Room.
Legendarisk sæt!
Legendary set.
I don't get the joke.
Is it a joke?
Legendary set?
I don't understand......
sobs gently
I think even those two dudes from the Vintage Set of the Week would say this is a Legendary set......if they had a mouth to speak with, that is.
This re-release was produced at a time when the company was in dire straits and not investing so much in product development, so instead plundered the archives for classic sets to reissue.
In 2002 no new Technic sets at all were made for the same reason. https://brickset.com/sets/year-2002/theme-Technic
I had a long debate with myself if I should purchase this or not, since I didn’t have a lot of money at the time, and definitely no space to display it.
Ultimately it got away, and given how brittle the rest of my old brown is, I can’t say it was a mistake.
Legendary set.
A true legend.
One of my favourite sets. I remember getting it for my birthday as a kid. Played with it A LOT.
Legendary set
Legendary set. Whether it was a rerelease or not.
Not legendary. Simply a brown rubble pile ... oh wait, just like the real Old West. So I guess it has its merit.
My all-time favorite. Seeing this on eBay brought me out of my dark period. I treasure my copy! Over the years I’ve added all the other western sets as well, but this one is legendary.
All time favourite, still built from when I got it after saving for months.
Legendary set.
Those of us from the West know this is the site of the infamous sand red brick massacre.

So if this is the second time that the plastic brick company made this set, does that make it:

Why's everyone saying "Legendary set"? There's too many to be coincidental, I must've missed a meme somewhere, haha!
I'm still collecting the missing figs for the boxed 6769 I found for £10!

Because it is just that: a Legendary Set!
If you want a train for your Old West town there's always 119, 726, the alternative model of 7725, the model on page 27 of idea book 240-2, and doubtless others I've missed...

It was re-released in the Lego Legends line. Thus, a legendary set.
Also, as a kid, I loved the Galidor TV show and had a bunch of the sets. (Yes, I'm weird)

Ah, ok... damn. Znap then?
Thanks for the info, the link makes sense now, but how'd it get to the point where everyone says it? I'm normally on the forum rather than the article comments so might've missed years of backstory!

It's just a thing people do. Go back and look at some of the Scala sets' RSOTD comments. The one called "Christian with Gifts" set 3220 was formerly named "My Dad", and has become a running gag when scala get picked. Clikits is another one that is fun to read. Everyday is a new adventure, with RSOTD!

Oh! I almost forgot "Bionicle lore time" when that gets picked. It's always awesome, and 100% official Lego storyline. Usually, @GSR_MataNui does that.

Legendary wife
My first virtual encounter with this set was kicking footballs at the wall panels to knock them over and stop it being built, in one of the skill challenge mini-levels in the Lego Football Mania PC game. The original version was also the site of the final battle/chess match of the Western storyline of Lego Chess, as well as - as noted above - an attraction you could buy for your park in the Legoland game.
I missed the main run of the Western line, besides its references in the various video games, and so the re-releases like these didn't mean much to me when they were around... plus, as a British kid I knew next-to-nothing about American history in general or the Wild West in particular so I had little context for them xD; Still, definitely an impressive set, this one ^^
Plus, it's reminiscent of a similar setting in what has more recently become one of my favourite movies, Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. Maybe add in a wild mustang fighting his way to freedom, just to complete the scene...
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=10352c01pb07 isn't quite the right colour but seems to be the closest Lego horse I can see...
Leg end ary set
One of those all-time "fever dream" sets: wanted it, never got it. Missing the 1996 original was realistic, since I was 9 and I DID get some of the other sets, but missing this at the height of my precollegiate spending powers is just criminal. Someday... someday.
Coincidence that I have the opportunity to purchase this the day it comes up as RSOTD. Definitely a white whale set for me. Will just need boulder Cliff Canyon now.

not cool man. The (REAL!) Sand Creek Massacre's anniversary is today. Union troops took out an entire village this day in 1864 - 150+ men, women, and children. So much for a "civilized nation"!
I’ve sold 2 of these on bricklink as well as a 365 which I might prefer if the figs had legs and arms.

Not quite.
Lego Direct re-released a number of sets under the Legends branding (starting with the "July Surprise", 10000).
https://news.lugnet.com/lego/announce/?n=38
https://brickset.com/sets/tag-Legends.
But they also did a series of classic re-releases at the same time which weren't branded as Legends.
https://news.lugnet.com/lego/direct/?n=2601
Some totally deserved to be called Legends and got robbed (like Fort Legoredo, and 6472), but some were about as un-Legendary as anything could possibly get (6290, 6636, egad).
