Lore dump! When Ogel had beat back Alpha Team in the winter wave, he had to go up against Agent Mater. Only Agent Mater was able to take down Ogel.
Man, Agents 3.0 was such a step down from Agents 2.0...
Gawsh, Lightni'n, how der yer know when yer a redneck?
My 6-wide, minifig-scale Mater uses 378pcs, and it's _just_Mater_.
Based Set.
Really stretching the definition of "minifigure" here, IMO. Characters, Brick-built Figures, sure, but... Minifigures?
Tommy Guns. Tommy Guns exist in the Cars Universe. How and why?

Picture, please? Or better yet, instructions?

I would consider questioning how clothing, food, and bathrooms work in this universe before bothering with a specific gun...
A really cool set! Have we had any sets with the tommy gun piece recently? Shame Lego doesn't use it as much anymore :(
@PhantomBricks:
Well, for starters, wasabi is this spicy kind of mint ice cream…
@Modeltrainman:
Sorry, there used to be a handful of shots of my table at the 2019 Concours d'Lemons Michigan on their recap site, but it looks like maybe half of the total images have gone missing. Yes, Mater appeared at a major car show, alongside other notable, uh, things, like the world's only 4-door 1987 Corvette, and an unexploded Ford Pinto Wagon.
RIP the cancelled Cars 2 Bionicle sets... Out of all the Cars 2 Bionicles, Agent Mater was the one I was most excited for. Oh well.
So, what makes a Minifigure by this site's standards? To me, these aren't.
I got this for my son along with couple of other Cars sets but he didn't show much interest. So, as a father I accepted the burden of keeping an eye for all of his Lego sets.
"Mater has given Dobby a gun"
Glider too small for a 2-ton vehicle. I mean, minifig.

I wouldn't mind hearing about this myself. My current guess is that it has something to do with them being named characters, but there still is a lot of ambiguity left. Maybe how Lego marketed it?
Ah, what a year this was! Redneck tow truck with guns and a parachute!
Okay, who told Pixar Lego toys make lots of money?

They’re miniguns in the movie, LEGO legit censored the guns from a G-rated movie. Or maybe they just didn’t know how to make miniguns look good enough at this scale.
I legit forgot this theme even existed

7598 Has named characters that aren't called minifig
10745 Has a "Semi Tractor Trailer" they still consider a minifig, cars is weird.
Dino's are also just parts, while nameless skeletons become minifigs.
Oh yeah this movie was a thing wasn’t it
The Tommy Gun piece was pretty much last seen in the Lego Batman series, but this Cars theme and Indiana Jones sets had quite a lot of occurrences.
@Rimefang:
You got that backward. It was created for Batman, which ran 2006-2008. This was four years later, the same year DC Superheroes sets hit retail (the theme technically premiered a year earlier by way of SDCC/NYCC minifigs).
Ah yes, Cars 2. Lego used to have a habit of picking up licenses just when the IP was stretched out too much due to sequels. But at least in the other cases we go great themes out of it.
In this case it really depends on whether you like the Cars franchise. Because that's all you're going to get. Lots and lots of specifically Cars characters.
I did really like the Cars theme, I thought all the printed pieces were great.
@Binnekamp:
I used several of the printed parts to make minifig-scale 6-wide and 8-wide versions of the characters, and I very much doubt I would have ever made the attempt if I had to brickbuild the mouths from the very start. I did twice, for Rod “Torque” Redline and I Am…Batmobile!, but only after I’d already built a few other characters where I could just use official printed mouth tiles.
Secret Agent Mater: "You've got this all wrong, I'm not a spy, I'm...
Dr. Z: "Agent 1/2, with a license to dismantle, I might add. You see this laser pointed right at you? It uses pure gold to melt everything it touches... As you will soon see! Goodbye, Agent Mater!"
Mater: "Do you expect me to talk?"
Dr. Z: "No, Mister Mater, I expect you to die!"
*laser starts moving*
Also, I'm mad Disney cancelled the railroad-themed spinoff of the Cars universe last year. It was called "METRO" and from the concept art, looked awesome.
Whats not too like when windscreens had evil eyes and bumpers goofy teeth, except maybe too many cars with a similar build. I wonder has anyone the full set as only available for less than a year?
this is so wacky i must own it
It was a good set!!
@Modeltrainman:
Just as a note, I displayed all my Pixar Cars cars at Brickworld Chicago in 2014 I think? All except Mater. I couldn’t even build him before fall of 2018. I haven’t made it there since summer of 2018, so the very next time I make that trip (hopefully 2023), I will be bringing the Pixar stuff back. TS2 Pizza Planet truck will also be there for the first time, but that is a modded version of the original:
