Random part of the day: Rudder 2X12X5

I’m no aviation expert but to me that looks like a tailfin. I suppose they couldn’t make the moveable flap.

@MeisterDad: Indeed, it's misnamed. I wouldn't call myself an aviation expert, but I've been an aviation buff for pretty much all my life, and even took flying lessons in my teen years, so I can say with some authority that this piece represents a part of the airplane of which the rudder is only a part. Of course, in 70701, it was neither a fin nor a rudder, it was wings!

I’ve got a few of these in clear from the Gorilla Grodd set. Two of them stay with the BttF2 DeLorean to get a clean “in flight” pose.

This is a vertical stabilizer, not a rudder. Some of the smaller cousins of this part have molded lines that look like they include a rudder, but this one is definitely just the stabilizer.

I was going to say I don't own any of these, due to not being interested in planes. But I do have them from the Galaxy squad set they came in.

Ah, the transparent mold. Surprisingly the clear mold version 18988 also came in red in set 60103. Why it didn't use the 87614 mold is an interesting question.

Got these, or their 'identical cousins' in: Red (B&P), Blue (Likewise), Clear (afore mentioned 'Grodd' set), and White (that 'Galaxy Squad' fighter). A fairly versatile part...just wish it was in more colors ( Green, Greys, and such...)

Works very well for giant Blacktron engine fins.

Is it weird that my first one of this kind of brick (without the studs) was from Nexo Knights?

I just refer to this as a BAVS.

It’s a necessary component of Vic Vipers, unless you brick build the BAVS.
