cool :D

i'm sure all of the comments under this post will not be toxic at all and will be written in a completely good faith nature

By in Australia,

$170 in Aus. Hey look at that, we managed to make it under 2x the US threshold

Exactly. They should take a page out of your book. At least you are self aware that you are hangry! :)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Thought it was only $95 US? That's what all the sources I'd read said it was.

Gravatar
By in United States,

It's going to be awfully hard for future GWP's to top the Blacktron Cruiser.

By in United States,

So excited for this! Definitely going to get more of the new City and Friends sets to qualify for it. I already bought some of the former to qualify for the Year of the Rabbit set today, before it goes away. So many GWPs…

Gravatar
By in United States,

I love that Lego changes out their GWP to appeal to different buyers. I loved getting the Blacktron ship (two of them!) and the Chinese New Year bunny as GWP.

I'm not interested at all in the Bionicle GWP. And that's okay. I'm sure many Bionicle fans will be happy to get the set.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I already said everything I loved (and hated) about this promo on the previous posts, but I've got a new fun fact for you!

Recently I've been trying to figure out how big each BIONICLE character canonically was (which is easier said than done, because they switched up the scale every two or three years.) according to my calculations, Takua is 2.97 feet tall! (without mask)

Gravatar
By in United States,

Aha, a choice between anime-inspired action themes, slice of everyday life themes, and themes which package parts together for mixing and matching. :P

I know each theme has very good sets (Friends especially) but Lego's unlicensed lineup is pretty lacking in diversity these days, compared to a decade ago.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I don't like any of these themes, but I really want this. I really wish Technic or Icons was included. Can I just buy $100 worth and return it? I'll pay the $16.99 this is apparently worth if they want to take it out of my return amount.

By in United States,

Is anyone else having issues with it not adding? I have a Ninjago set and Classic set in my bag that's well over $100 before tax, and it's not adding the GWP in.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The event's off to a rough start. Reporting in from the US just minutes past midnight, and not only is LEGO.com saying the total is $100, not $95, but I had a selection of City/Creator sets and none of them triggered the BIONICLE GWP into my cart. Removed and readded, still nothing. Seeing some folks on Twitter saying they're facing a similar issue.

No, I'm not seeing it yet either. IIRC there was something similar with the Forestman GWP for some folks but people did get the GWP on their invoice once it arrived, I would place your order and assume it will be added later, but check that invoice carefully.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Same issue.

Gravatar
By in United States,

It’s not adding for me either

Gravatar
By in United States,

I placed my order, it says "in process" on the order details page, no Tahu and Takua yet.

yes, I'm having issues as well

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Going to attempt buying this seperately one day...

Gravatar
By in United States,

It's broken for me. All the branding and links show up on the site, but it won't show up in my cart.

Gravatar
By in Denmark,

"The Balrog and Frodo"

Another Lord of the rings set.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I see the Year of the Rabbit GWP is still being added as well (in the UK) despite it officially ending yesterday. Not sure if that's an error or if it's been extended until it's gone.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

And 40499 is out of stock again, seems it's only available when there are no GWP.

@sjr60 A rabbit also appeared in my basket.
@Drewsko still bugged? It works fine here.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

My jimmies are a little rustled by the fact that all the stuff I want that would go towards qualifying for this is either out of stock or, in the case of Creator 3-in-1, not available until March… wish they’d either waited another month until that stuff was available, or widened the eligibility.

I'm having the same issues, hopefully it works in the morning

Gravatar
By in United States,

I do love this set. But setting a high threshold, at the end of the month where all the new sets were already released and had two very high thresholds (Blacktron was especially desirable), and severely limiting what sets are available, only amplifies the issue with it won't show up in my cart. Just feels a little bad.

I just used LEGO’s customer service chat function, they are aware of the issue and have forwarded these concerns to the proper department! Hopefully the problem is going to be fixed soon, in the meantime you can get the promo added to your order (if it qualifies) by contacting them. It worked for me!

It is definitely a disappointment that the website seems to be acting up. Got my order fixed with customer service, but I hope they learn from this issue so that we don’t have to deal with similar problems in the future, and I have informed them of such, for whatever it’s worth. Hopefully this is a one-time glitch, as I have not previously encountered issues like this with the Blacktron set or anything prior on day 1 of release.

You definitely haven't had a lot of experience with LEGO's online shop site over the past, well, decades it seems.
After all, since when have they been known to be good at fixing ANY issues at all?

Gravatar
By in United Arab Emirates,

Where I live they're including them for a purchase over 190 dollars and only for one day

Gravatar
By in United States,

The set is added to cart automatically now for those in North America, I tried and it's there. Not sure what took so long, but I'm glad it's working!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Threshold appears to be $100 in US as well, which means the estimate went from $85 to 95$ to $100

I must say that for the past year, I didn't have any problems anymore.

By in United Kingdom,

I was fortunate this morning. Went to the MK lego store (in the uk) and they let me have one when I bought a luna new year parade (even though it's not tecnically part of the 'city' sets).

Sending what I can! I reccomend going early while it's quiet and asking which sets are included.

Gravatar
By in United States,

You only need $99.99 to qualify for the set. However $99.98 will not trigger the promo.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Ended up having to call customer support about it but they fixed it immediately.

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

And it just so happens that I cannot remember my log in information.

€99,99 will not work in Europe however. (tested with 3-in-1 Castle and City Moonbase)

Gravatar
By in United States,

I guess it just goes to show we shouldn’t put complete trust in insider or speculative info. I imagine it was always going to be a $100 threshold for the US. It just makes more sense with it being 95 euro or 95 pounds. No reason to be mad at LEGO unless it’s info straight from them that was inaccurate.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I have noticed a few websites stating the thresholds as £95/€95/$95, even after it went live. Historically, the thresholds have always been the same for those three currencies, even though the set prices aren't. I complained about that last year so I was pleasantly surprised to find the thresholds amended this year since the Blacktron Cruiser. This promo is £95/€100/$100, and imagine that type of distinction will continue, but perhaps some saw one threshold and assumed it to be the same for all three currencies.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I have done it. I have ordered the Mixel-Tahu, plus a viking serpent for him to duel

Gravatar
By in United States,

Solid GWP’s with reasonable thresholds like this are my perfect time to fill in with sets that I definitely want but feel were a bit overpriced. Very happy to get the wildly cool monkey kid Nezha Fire Ring set. At $100, I felt the set was $10-$15 more than I’d like. $100 with a solid GWP, perfect.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@TBOC:
I had my cart loaded and ready to go, and put in my order at 12:10am, without checking to see if it had added (it hadn’t). I had to call in and have them manually add one. Playing around with it last night, and again before work, I added the most expensive Creator 3-in-1, City, Monkie Kid, and Friends sets (each over $150, each should have triggered it by itself), plus 3x Sad Tahu, and nothing worked. When I called it, it was working. Must be that someone forgot to flip a switch until they punched in this morning. Anyone who placed a qualifying order and did _not_ get one listed on their order, just call them up and they can handle that on the back end.

@rople:
Garmadon comic series?

@sjr60:
Placed a large PAB order yesterday, didn’t get the YotR or see it listed at the top of the page, so I assumed they ran out. The customer service rep I talked to said it was adding with this set when she checked the Viking ship, so she was able to hook me up with one of those as well.

@watcher21:
I don’t think 40499 qualifies for the Bionicle promo anyways.

@Brickbuilder0937:
From talking to one of the LEGO Store employees, this is something they can only discover by trial and error. Sometimes $100 means $100, other times it means $99.99, and other times it probably means $99.00 (not sure what mix of items will exactly hit that number, so the low end in those cases may be a WAG).

@Lordmoral:
If you can remember your VIP number, you can always place your order by phone.

Gravatar
By in United States,

This is a situation where I'll likely wait 'till the last minute (2/9) to see if there are any left, and then decide if I buy it. Seems like a neat display piece, probably going to be hellish to get second hand. I just have to wait and see.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Aaaand the BrickLink prices are already insane.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I don't normally jump on the negativety bandwagon 'cause it normally does nothing but suck the fun out of things, but.... I waited until the next morning to place my order because of the bug and now my qualifying set is on backorder until April. :(

Same here, I’ve found them to be quite effective at solving individual issues when they arise, better at customer service than most companies I’ve dealt with. Sitewide problems on the other hand… not so much. For instance the queue system when it gets busy is a nightmare, and this GWP delay was uncalled for (but ultimately solved). But whenever I’ve needed something related to a specific order, they have not disappointed me.

Then consider yourself lucky. My personal experience is that customer service has been on a steady decline for years now and has never been as bad as currently. At least here in Germany. Perhaps customer service in the US is better. And as for website problems, every time new products launch the site is either down entirely, unreachable for hours, or orders don't get through, payment doesn't work the usual way, etc. etc.
When you call customer service they apologize and say they know about the issues and work on getting better. Next time round, the same issues, the same hollow answers.
Hence my sardonic first comment, since I have given up believing them.
"Fool me once,..." you know the saying.

Tried asking, but they wouldn't give,
Got a year of the rabbit though, so that's something.

As well as the Galaxy Explorer and Gandalf+Balrog brickheads that I actually wanted and went to get, so win

Try adding another $5. Spend in the US is listed as $100, and precise spend is reported to be $99.99.
