For all the variety they’ve been making of these flip plates, I do sometimes still end up needing one they don’t make.
This is a new part? Thought they made this ages ago…
Woah. What are the odds that I reviewed a set today and explicitly mentioned this piece? I mean, they've got to be very low, right?
Anyhow, this piece is in 77 sets, so there's no way I'm going over all of that. I will give you all the set numbers very quick-a-like if you want to see for yourself.

You would be thinking of the vertical version https://brickset.com/parts/design-63868 and https://brickset.com/parts/design-42923 which was introduced in 2009.
Or the even older 1x1 plate version which has been around since 1980.

2021, according to Bricklink (which usually treats all variants as the same part, so you can see a more complete history).
I discovered a need for this a few years ago, but I don’t remember what I was trying to build. Maybe if I get a few it will trigger my memory!
But I am glad they finally made a match for the vertical one.
Ah yes, the ol' cup holder joke is new again.
Hey! How'ya doin'?
I never understood why these clipped plated are of a shinier black than normal plates. It looks really strange in my Camaro. Same thing for the hinge plates. Sturdier plastic?
You say Plate With Holder, I say Arm For A Robot
I didn't know even know this part exists yet I own it from 6 sets.
Quite interesting how this was made so much later compared to the horizontal clip version : https://brickset.com/parts/design-63868 or https://brickset.com/parts/design-42923
