Well…it’s certainly different.
Anyone got the lore for this?
I prefer the 3.5 cm version.
Mmmmmm yum

The 3.5 cm version is 10 times shorter than this one.
350mm = 35.0cm = 3.50dm* = 0.350m * decimeter: hardly ever used (even outside of USA)
I... I don't know what to make of this. It comes in only three sets; 31313, arguably the most classic Mindstorms set, 45514, which is justa bunch of cables, and $45544, a set that apparently over 700 of you have. So... there you go.
TIL Lego sold phone cables.
aka rabbit snacks.
It's always so hard to judge product size from pictures - it certainly doesn't look like 350 megameters to me.
All I can think to say is MmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMmMm
Edit: this joke was funnier when i thought it would line-wrap
Black licorice is NOT tasty to me, no matter how many mms you assign to it.
I wonder if you could buy these cables from 3rd party electronic distributors. While it's not the RJ45 connector that's used in ethernet lines, there's gotta be some electronic device besides LEGO Mindstorms that needed this kind of connector or extension cable.
@MeisterDad:
Nope. Not even a little bit. Anise is just…the worst.
@Agent00Z:
From what I remember, this connector comes with a locking tab that’s centered, lefthand, or righthand. Centered is commonly used in home and office networking. And if the righthand tab is easily obtainable for select uses, TLG picked the lefthand tab that almost nobody uses. It is out there, from what I recall, but it’s probably easier to search for someone who has already located a source than it is to locate the source yourself.
Check out the 500 mM version. One more loop!
What, no studs? Limits and specialised connection points? iS tHis EvEn ReaL lEgO?
This is too soon after the announcement that Mindstorms is discontinued
It still hurts

Yes, and even at the speed of light it will take more than a second for the signal to arrive. And it will probably break if you try to attach it to geostationary satellite, so I don't see what the intended use for this specific part would be.
@Wrecknbuild:
It would need to be about 36 times as long to connect to a geostationary satellite from the ground.
Don't you just hate all these single-use parts that LEGO puts out these days?
[sarcasm]
@oldfan:
It’s not a single-use part, though. You can use it to tie together bundles of 32L axles, or any really long length of flex-tube.
350 Mm = 350,000 km = 350,000,000 m = 350,000,000,000 mm

Geostationary satellites are at a height of around 36 000 km, and the cable is 350 000 km.
@Wrecknbuild:
Yup, focused on Mm, forgot about the 350. I’m not sure how that would react, then. Most likely, I’d guess the long tail would create enough orbital “drag” to cause the entire thing to collapse back to Earth. And the solar L4/L5 Lagrange Points being 1.5 million km away, and the lunar equivalents being over 360,000 km away, those aren’t options. Lunar L1/L2 aren’t that different from geostationary, and they’re less stable.
Set 45514 is in the running for one of my favorite Lego sets of all time.
Up there with 45611, 4229459, and 4229482.
