"Honey, where are my PAAAANTS?"

I have never watched an episode of Ninjago and don't really know any of the Lore (do we get Lore™ for Ninjago figs?), but I am irrationally fond of the snake-persons.

Hey, yesterday's RMotD not being licensed wasn't an April Fool's Day joke!

I used to have half of this figure I got in a box at a yard sale. I didn't care for him much so I mixed him up with a chima minifiges legs and gave him away.

I have a few of the original Lashas, this one not so much. What makes him so angry though? Why the need to lash out?

Long ago the Serpentine and Humans lived in separate parts of Ninjago. Desiring drama and "fun" the cultist Master Chen began spreading rumors among the people. He convinced the Humans that the Serpentine planned on releasing a giant snake that would consume the world, and he convinced the Serpentine that he Humans planned to give one of their own a suit of Golden Armor that would make them all powerful.

The Humans and Serpentine ended up going to war. At the end of this Serpentine War, each of the five Serpentine tribes were sealed in underground tombs throughout the land.

Fast forward 30-40 years and the events of Ninjago Season 1 take place. During this story Lloyd Garmadon freed the Serpentine in order to become a dark lord like his father, only to be betrayed by Pythor P. Chumsworth. Pythor became king of the Serpentine, and planned on locating the four silver fang blades to unleash The Great Devourer, a giant snake that would consume the world.

In the end Pythor was eaten by his own monster (though, we'd eventually learn he survived) and the Devourer was slain. Sometime latter the Serpentine were tunneling under Ninjago City, plotting revenge against the Ninja. The ended up discovering the tomb of the Stone Army just as they awakened. The Stone Army seemingly sealed the Serpentine in their own tomb.

Turns out though, the Stone Army didn't actually lock the door. The Serpentine escaped, but that brush with more imprisonment prompted a change of heart. From that point on the Serpentine became the underground guardians of Ninjago City. They would wander its sewers and catacombs to help lost travelers, and in times of danger would funnel Humans to underground bunkers for safety.

The Venomari were the green Serpentine tribe. They were noted for their four eyes and hallucinogenic venom that could cause their target to see their worst fear. After the Serpentine War the Venomari were sealed beneath a giant tree in the Toxic Bogs.

Lasha was a Scout Class Venomari. His fangs were small and couldn't produce much venom, so he would purchase vials of venom from the other members of his tribe. Interestingly, on the original figure Lasha's vials were bright red, but on this remake they're black with a skull print. At some point Lasha lost an eye.

His favorite pants shrunk in the wash.

I love the serpentine. They are to this day some of the best villains in Ninjago. I remember trying to trade for the neighbor kid's Lasha so that I would have multiple characters of the same tribe. I like Lasha's design, however, I prefer Spitta's special venomari designed head.

I'd assume that last part's why he stopped carrying his eyedrops in red vials.

Serpentor, what happened?!?

Looks like Sgt. Slaughter rearranged your face.

Did they give him extra eyes purely because they realised all the “one eyed serpent” jokes this figure would inspire otherwise?

WHOO! First Ninjago random fig!

By in United Kingdom,

I do not own many Ninjago minifigs (one set, four magazine packets), but I love the print on this one. 73 thousand owned by bricksetters? Wow.
He's in 8 sets, but half of those are (ninja character) Vs Lasha - Cole, Kai and Jay (twice). I presume Jay really didn't like him, but Nya and Zane didn't mind him as much?

I greatly prefer the original Lasha design over the redesign. It looks so flat and cartoony and not nearly as snake-like.

@PurpleDave seems that you found another opportunity to mention your Alien Clinger army (tm), haven't you? As a purist the removal of prints pained me when I heard it, but you do you. They're your Alien Clinger army (tm).

Owned! Love this redesigned Lasha. As someone who owns all three designs, I think this really is the best design. Bit disappointed they didn't redesign the thing on the top of the head (is it a tail?!) but its fine. A good figure IMO!

Wait, what I'm getting from this is that Lasha is male? And here, I'd been thinking that sounded more like a female name... I suppose because of the way it rhymes with, e.g., Natasha which is definitely most often a girl's name. And it's not like snake features give any obvious gender clues, so I'd been assuming...

This is what I get for not knowing anything about Ninjago, clearly xD;

Now that you mention it, I don't think any of original serpentine villains were female. Later in the show we see a few such as Skales' wife and Aspheera, but not in their first appearance.

Interesting how this figure appeared 3 times in 3 different Legacy Magazine "Duels"

Jay 111904 : Jay Vs. Lasha in 2019
Kai 112008 : Kai vs. Lasha in 2020
Cole 112110 : Cole vs. Lasha in 2021

Lasha was always missing an eye, the original figure just stylized it differently. Surprisingly gruesome design for a Minifigure (although I might just think that because eye maiming is one of my fears), especially for one that was put in a Juniors set.

@Binnekamp:
Ah, don’t worry about it. It was quick and painless. I used a Dremel!

@ThatBionicleGuy:
It definitely depends on the culture it’s derived from. One of the most extreme I know of is Iceland, where the government maintains lists of male and female names. Anyone who wants to become an Icelandic citizen has to pick a name off of the list that matches their gender, or apply for an exception (which are difficult to obtain). Spanish has clear rules for words (not just proper names) that are feminine or masculine. Now, Natasha is a female name of Slavic origin, but it’s actually a nickname for Natalia. And Misha is a nickname for Mikhael. So apparently the -sha suffix is not gender-specific in Eastern Europe.

Yeah, despite having seventeen chances Lego did not make a single one of the original Serpentine female. Of course, in the animated series most of them ended up as mass produced grunts, but none of them was ever implied to be female either. Skales’ wife Selma was the first confirmed onscreen female Serpentine, and Aspheera was the first to get physical Minifigures. Personally, I’d probably go back and make Lasha and a few others of the OG snakes female…along with some other old Ninjago Villains.
