Or also the Andrea Area, or the Andarea/Andrarea.

Nothing says “classy” like a baby grand piano with a color-coordinated skeleton leg mounted by the keyboard.

Not quite the same level of detail as 21323, but that is a decent piano, and without the printed keyboard tile, too. But the skeleton leg is wacky.

A boombox *on top* of a piano? Now that's pretty cool

I think the skeleton leg is supposed to be a candlestick? Anyway did Andrea ever grow out of this stage? What stage is she at now?

@MeisterDad:
No, I figured it was meant to hold a microphone before I even confirmed that the set does indeed come with a microphone. It's just the fact that the most suitable element to accomplish this happens to be a skeleton leg is bizarre.

Also, was Andrea old enough to be boozing it up while tinkling the ivories at this point in her life? I'm thinking she was a bit underaged...

I think the skeleton leg might be a small microphone stand.

I like the footlights, although that mic stand is going to cast a big shadow if some things don't get adjusted.

@BrickBoriqueno : This one's also much cheaper than 21323.

@MeisterDad: She's at her own stage, it's right there in the set name!

@PurpleDave : Considering how young Mozart was when he composed his first piece, I don't think her age should be an issue regarding whether she can play. What's in that goblet might be the bigger age-related issue...

Awww.....the first Friends sets I owned.
Chosen by my then 4 year old daughter who was just starting to show an interest in Lego.
Fortunately for me her interest wore off after a couple of years so all her sets became my sets.
She did love the piano from this one though. This is one of those sets that ended up being loose parts except for the piano - which is permanently built 11 years later.
Unfortunately the stereo and the microphone/spotlight stand disappeared one day after a visit from a little 4 year old pal. She moved away a year or so later so I don't know if she grew up to love Lego or whether those parts just ended up abandoned and unloved at the bottom of a toy box.

The different coloured lights just remind me of the indicator lights on boats and planes so you can tell which way they're facing; and now I'm wondering if that stage is going to set sail or take off

By in Netherlands,

Last year I acquired a bag of random parts that were obviously mostly from friends. A surprising amount of parts from this set were in it including the arches, red inverted slopes, convex slopes, 4x4 curved corner plates etc. I don't recall if the skeleton legs were there, but they might have been. It's weird how after finding out about this set I feel a weird sort of attachment to it. Having put those parts for sale it feels like I now have a history with it.
The same goes for the Mia's magic show set. I once obtained a partially deconstructed magic show box.
Strange how surface-level familiarity goes such a long way.

Nice set for $10, as Andrea has a stand for the mike it would be cool if she was holding a guitar or saxophone!

I keep seeing this as a made-over Palpatine's thrown room. Just stick in one of those Death Star windows.

"Something, something, something, Heartlake..."

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@ambr she could hold a guitar but not be able to play it thanks to her non moving hands !
Such is life in Heartlake City. Such a lovely utopia except you can't actually play a guitar so those music careers are never going to take off.

Thanks to this set (and maybe especially the sign), I still think of Magenta as Andrea's Red.

You'd better tell the Captain we've got to land as soon as we can. This woman has to be gotten to a hospital.

...wait, sorry, wrong kind of set... Just saw the mention of planes...

and then the first performer took the stage."

Waiwaiwait…. Does that mean I’m in charge? Enough with the amateur hour, someone get Soraia on stage!

Are you seriously comparing a 10 USD set where a piano isn't even the main build with a 400 USD set that is a piano? :)

""So what IS the deal with all these animals with mascara on them, am I right? Am I right, folks?"

Polite chuckles from the audience, except from the one dark corner from which Olivia stares daggers at the stage."

"But what about airline food? I mean, what is UP with that stuff?"

*a few people clap slowly for a very short time while the rest look confused*

A hospital? What is it?

All the world's a stage, and according to this set, the world is really tiny.

I have started to make a habit of asking AFOLs—especially slightly older ones—whether they hope their progeny will take up the hobby so there will be somebody to inherit their collection.

I think everybody so far has answered no. They want their kids to abandon Lego so the parent can inherit their kids' Lego, just like you did.

By in United Kingdom,

@Ridgeheart that possibly was the actual words I used when I asked around age 16 for my Fabuland to come out the attic.
@AllenSmith I try not to be too disappointed her love of Lego never took off. Would be nice to share the hobby. I don't know if she will come back to it. Maybe one day?

@AllenSmith:
Well, we have a high-schooler who recently joined our LUG, and I know her dad is very much hoping she’ll stick with it.

@Ridgeheart:
What was I thinking? I’ll tell you exactly what I was thinking. “Why on Earth would The LEGO Company send me a free box of Galidor figures, when I run a Bionicle site?” I still haven’t opened them, and don’t even know where that box is buried. I did actually buy my own copy of the one that looks like a frog, because it looks like a frog. But that’s it.
