Star Wars sets with 5x VIP points announced

Posted by ,

LEGO has announced which sets will qualify for 5x VIP points in LEGO stores, between the 1st and 7th of May. For Europe, these are:

  • 75323 The Justifier
  • 75325 The Mandalorian's N-1 Starfighter
  • 75331 The Razor Crest
  • 75334 Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Darth Vader
  • 75338 Ambush on Ferrix

Update: The list differs slightly for North America, including 75332 AT-ST, 75326 Boba Fett's Throne Room and 75343 Dark Trooper Helmet in place of 75325 The Mandalorian's N-1 Starfighter, 75331 The Razor Crest and 75334 Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Darth Vader. View the North American list below...

While this offer will only be available in LEGO stores, all LEGO Star Wars purchases will qualify for double VIP points online, as well as in store. These are in addition to 40591 Death Star II, 5007840 Return of the Jedi 40th Collectable and 30654 X-wing Starfighter, about which you can find more information here.

Are you considering buying any of these five sets next week? Let us know in the comments.

shame its not online. im sure the lego star wars community will respond to this reasonably and maturely in a way to give feedback that only helps make things better.

some good stuff on here. might have to finally get ferrix.

By in Sweden,

So 25k points to get 75331 off the shelfs? Not enough.

Gravatar
By in United States,

To answer the article's question, no. I am not considering buying any of these five sets next week. The only one I don't have is the Razor Crest. The Razor Crest is so far down on the wanted list, it barely registers as being on the wanted list.

The US LEGO.com site has these sets for the 5X VIP offer:

75323 The Justifier™
75326 Boba Fett's Throne Room
75332 AT-ST™
75338 Ambush on Ferrix™
75343 Dark Trooper™ Helmet

"in store only" ....is the Lego group trying to make things difficult on purpose....?

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm a UCS collector (movie Episodes I-VI only) so won't be getting any of these. 5x is pretty sweet though!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Considering that in the UK (apart from the Andor set) these have had 20-30% discounts from other reatailers, it's not worth it.

Gravatar
By in United States,

hleonffu: If 75338 is going to have 5X VIP points online here, I just might have to get it. The nearest Lego store is almost a day's drive round-trip, so I probably wouldn't be doing that even if I weren't confined to a wheelchair, thus needing someone to drive me there.

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

No official LEGO stores at all in New Zealand so having no way of being able to get any of these sucks.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

When I first heard of 5x on four sets (as it was then before the official announcement) I intended buying two of them. Then the Star Wars Day page on the LEGO website confirmed it was only in store so that won’t happen now. Any saving will be lost from fuel costs for the round trip. Hopefully, the online discounts yet to be confirmed will be more enticing. Otherwise just two online orders on Monday.

By in United Kingdom,

To try to get people into the stores is odd, as Lego stores in the UK are essentially day-care centres for children.

There is less focus on selling and more on children playing in the middle of the floor.

By in Australia,

oh, that's cool, I would really like 75331 since the only place that has it here is either a certified store - diff reward system and hefty postage or Amazon (which rarely discounts without a competitor, all it's "discounts" are in fact price matching - and I'm not a fan of supporting their practices at the best of times) and my closest Lego owned stored is in Singapore I believe, a measly ~6,500km trip away.

Given that, might not be able to pick one up in store - so basically a normal double VIP.

Leicester Square must be an exception then?

By in Switzerland,

Reading the above, I honestly do not understand all the hate for the UCS Razor Crest. Not only does it look great, it is also a great build. In fact, out of all the UCS sets I have built, it is by far the best and most intricate build.

If you don't want it because you don't care about the Mandalorian, that's fair enough. But if you don't like it because of some weird prejudice, I would sincerely urge you to check it out in detail.

On another note: here in Switzerland LEGO officially sells the N-1 Starfighter for 85 CHF (which is about the same in EUR). If I order that one today from Amazon.de, I will pay 41 CHF, less than half the price. I guess LEGO will have to try a bit harder to sell their non-exclusive sets with x times VIP points here in Switzerland.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The last Star Wars set I had was 75330. I intend to get 75339 before it retires, but my interest in these sets has dwindled and not even 5 x VIP points involving a train trip to London or six hour round trip to Milton Keynes and back will persuade me to get these.

my budget on lego is really tight this year, as the sets I want the most tend to be really expensive now, involving lots of months going without and only spending when I can afford or an offer is too good to miss.

This one is neither.

I guess it's time for me to buy the razor crest then! I am very happy with 5x on a set i was going to get at some point anyway.

If I would not already have this, I would definitely get it with 5x VIP points. It is an awesome set and an awesome build. 5x VIP points means approx a 25% discount here in Switzerland. Current cheapest price here for that set is with Smyths toys for approx 10% of Lego MSRP, so it would be a great deal.

By in Canada,

I live near Toronto. We are lucky enough to have 3 stores in a reasonable driving distance. One store has a dark trooper helmet, one has a ambush on ferric and I think a couple have justifier. Not sure how many people even want them but if you are running a promotion on sets in store but have minimal to none available between 3 how are people to take advantage of the promotion. I am surprised they didn't offer the 5X points on discounted sets of they didn't want people to take advantage. I wouldn't be buying any of the three but if I did you would hope they would have them in stock to coincide with their promotion

Leicester Square is my definition of hell.

They have tables with Lego for children to play with and the bricks get under your feet. Lego could do away with those tables and harness pester power more to get children to want their parents to buy the sets instead of sat at a table playing with random bricks.

Last year a parent get prosecuted for dumping their children off at the Manchester store (unattended) for a few hours so that they could go shopping.

Gravatar
By in Norway,

Great news for those of us living in countries without any Lego stores at all...

Gravatar
By in United States,

So disappointed by the US list. The UK list had a couple of sets that I was holding off on until they were a better deal, but most of them are replaced with other sets in the US. I was planning on maybe going in if the US list had stuck to what the rumors were, but now I don't think it's worth it.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Oh my god, it's literally all the sets, that are overpriced to the point, where it's only worth getting them at 40% discount or even more for the European one. (minus the Razor Crest that one is just expensive in general)

Gravatar
By in United States,

I might get the AT-ST, but otherwise the North American 5x options are not great. I know these are obviously shelf warmers, but still.

Feedback I would have is to allow the 5x points to be online as well, not just in store. Based on what I have read here, not everyone has a Lego store near to them, nor can they easily get to it (i.e. if you have a disability that would prevent you from doing so). So this is a matter of equity. And who really cares anyway? Just let it be online and in store.

Also, anyone waiting on that Ferrix set, grab it! It's actually a great set!

I was excited, but now its ruined. Guess the Razor Crest waits for me again.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Seriously why is the 5x VIP points offer only in-store?! How aggravating…

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I'd have been tempted by the Andor set at 5x VIP, but it's OOS at my local store (Metrocentre).

Gravatar
By in United States,

None of these seem to really warrant a drive to the store unless they happened to be a bunch of sets you already wanted to get.

I got the Throne Room from Walmart for $70. If I see the Justifier get a crazy discount on Amazon in the next year I may get it, but it’s just not worth it otherwise.

Gravatar

Gravatar

Correction, but I'm pretty sure for NA the Hoth ATST doesn't qualify for 5X points, rather its the 4+ ATST, set 75332.

According to Lego’s fine print, you are correct. Which makes more sense. But is a bummer.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I have to admit a slight sense of disappointment that this didn't accompany a sneak announcement of a set to go with the release of Jedi Survivor this weekend. I figured there would be one, since Lego did make a BD-1 piece last year. Seems a bit of a waste, really.

I don't understand why so many people complain about the availability of this promotion in the stores only. As I understand, for the online stores there will be equal discounts for 100 points

Polite answer: No

Gravatar
By in United States,

Well, it looks like a great sale for the five or six people in North America who’ve been waiting to get that chibi AT-ST for their diehard kindergarten Star Wars fan.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Shame that the Razor Crest isn’t included in the U.S.

That’s the set I was planning to buy next week, but seeing this makes me wonder if it isn’t selling eel and might be worth holding out for a discount on…

Gravatar
By in United States,

I probably would have but the bullet on the razor crest, had they not made a weird distinction in sales for the states

Actually, the second one I would have gotten is the other Mando set, lol

Nice.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I was thinking of getting the Justifier, but seeing as even if they tack on the 2x bonus for points with the 5x, it's still not even going to be enough for $100 discount, no thanks. Honestly only reason I would get it.

That’s how these promotions always are though. They aren’t going to discount a set they have no problem selling.

Wonder how long it'll take for Duplo Darth Vader, as Duplo already does Jurassic World, Disney and Superheroes.

Awesome kit list. Wut?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Huh, well let me just hop in my car and drive... 400 miles, round trip. Anyway, yeah, seems like they overproduced Mando's N-1. It was on sale super cheap at Costco for a bit, too. I really want Mando's N-1, but I'm hoping they'll remake it a bit nicer (a UCS would be amazing!).

Gravatar
By in United States,

Have to build the points back up after using them on Rivendell. 75326 + 75338 should do nicely to also get all the GWP's. Overpriced sets serving a salvageable role.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The Lego store in Michigan has a great manager and customer service, but their inventory is always awful. Maybe it’s because they’re on the smaller side, but the in store selection will be gone by midday. There’s typically a shipment from Lego at the end of the week, so hopefully it will favor Star Wars more than anything else.

And there is the opportunity to earn more than 100 points on these sets going to store than online, which makes it a good deal to earn a lot of points, until you consider distance and petrol prices.

Then how many dollars would 5525 VIP point equal? Let's see... based off quick math from the first discount, that's 130 points = $1. Now, 5525/130 = 42.50... So, unless the 2x points is also factored in, you're right in the monetary value. So where did the math go wrong? In the point count?
