Review: 40647 Lotus Flowers

Posted by ,

Lotus flowers, or Nelumbo nucifera, are aquatic plants native to Asia. They are a symbol of purity, spiritual enlightenment, and rebirth, and are sacred in many Eastern cultures.

40647 Lotus Flowers, a supplementary set to the hugely popular botanical collection, contains three stems of this exquisite bloom.

The spray consists of a white and a pink flower fully open, and a pink one yet to erupt. The stems are fabricated using regular green 2l axle joiners, 48 in total, with a bright green pin joiner at the top of the unopened one.

The 66956 PLATE W/ BOW 2X2X2/3, 45 DEG. on the ends of the petals are new in pink, while the cool yellow hubcap, which adds delicate detail to the stamen, was also used for the same purpose in 10313 Wildflower Bouquet.

Here's how they are constructed, using two of the dia. 5 steering wheel, new here in white.

It's another attractive and delightful addition to the hugely successful botanical series, and priced at just £10.99 / $12.99 / €12.99 for over 200 pieces, it's also something of a bargain worthy of impulse purchase. It'll be available at LEGO.com from 1st June.

Thanks to my wife for the loan of the Caithness vase. The one I printed and intended to use did not come out as well as I had hoped.

LEGO White Lotus, never expected this tie-in with the HBO series.

@Ridgeheart, I guess the old steering wheel is not 3.18mm bar/clip compatible.

This one is a must buy for me. I just wish they would adjust the limits on Lego.com for these sets after they've been out for a while. My Lego store rarely has the most recent ones available in store when I go there and the lifetime limit of 2 sets online is ridiculous.

Another excellent set crying out for multiple purchases! Plus several other great cheap releases for 1st Jun... just hoping the Pirate Ship Playground GWP hasn't run out before then.

In my experience, it resets after 6 or 12 months depending on the set. I've bought a bunch of roses and tulips over the past couple of years. Just gave my mom a set of each for Mother's Day.

When did they start lifetime limit?

I still think it's silly that the Botanical Collection is one part creator, another part icons. Just bite the bullet and make it a primary theme, LG!
