Ok,was not expecting that.
I really like this,won't get it but I like it. Definitely better than last year's camaro.
Also, is there a Chevy tax? Jeez.
Snazzy! If only I had a Creator Expert Car display, then I'd certainly get this.
Looks great, probably will buy eventually. But, since on this side of the Atlantic we have hoods and trunks in our cars, a "bonnet and boot" is not an authentic feature.
Will be interesting to see how the small circa 1960 Chevrolet Corvette scales next to the larger sized cars from recent years Creator Expert cars. Looking forward to building this set and finding out. Thanks for the info :)
Bonnet is the the top of the car, right? Like a lil hat is a bonnet
Perfect timing for the Barbie movie this month where she has one in pink!
It's red, nice, I hoped it will be red but also I would rather except it to be 100-110 euros. 150 seems for me a bit too much.
It turned out pretty good and I'm glad it's red instead of the rumored bright light yellow. But all the chrome parts should have at least be metallic silver for that price.
Funny how proudly they advertise the bad quality print of the DeLorean wheel caps with a huge offset from center:

Really loving the use of what look to be teacup saucers in clear with white printing on top for those headlights. And are the taillights barraki eyes or spring-loaded shooter bolts?
Is that a recolor of the candle piece?
Edit: staff hilt from Monkey Kid as well.
Here's hoping for a minifig version like 40650: Land Rover Classic Defender!
Wow that was out the blue... I mean red. :P
Not my favorite gen Corvette, but love the curved windshield. Hope that part will come to many more sets
Oh, that's gorgeous. I love it when there's a proper convergence between the contours of the vehicle and the parts Lego has available. Also, there doesn't appear to be a weird excess of plate pieces used to make the vehicle walls--everything looks fairly solid.
(I am kind of starting to wish we had a 1x4 cheese slope piece.)
The front looks really awkward so I am wondering which Corvette this is meant to be.
I really like it. But, I can't extend my collection
categories for cars any further than Speed Champions.
The seam of the rear trunk is expertly hidden.
150 seems pretty fair for a price, for once. Most of the creator expert cars are in that range
I like it...I might get it. If it sticks around for a few years on the shelf and my budget allows it. I have so many on my list that I want already.
This baby is screaming for chrome ! Why TLG? Why! Why isn’t there a better option than lbg!?!
To me this looks better than several of the last few Creator Expert vehicles. A bit too expensive for my liking, but which current LEGO set isn't nowadays?
Looks quite gorgeous. Glad it doesn't have versions different enough to temp multiple copies... so a bit of a bargain really!
I would to have 53, as well as a C3 and C4 Stingray. I am definitely getting this
Didn’t we just get a camero last year?
That has to be one of the most tiled-off sets I’ve ever seen. How many studs are exposed, maybe 5? I don’t even like cars and I’m tempted to get this.
Are those bananas?! And yes, there needs to be chrome here.
Not what I was expecting tbh. Thought it would be a modern model.
This is one of those models where as soon as you see it the response is "Dange, that looks good!"
I don't know if I'll end up getting it or not, but it is really lovely.
Prince would have loved this. I will build one in honor of the artist.
If it was the earlier 1953-55 C1, the one with a single pair of headlights, I would probably buy.
I have waited years for this set!
Also June 30 is National Corvette Day in the US. This can't be a coincidence!
That price is wild.
Looks nothing like the on-screen version.

Amazing. Seems like a clear sign they don't bother with print quality anymore. "This is our benchmark, stop complaining already".
Maybe some bucket handles in the grill instead would make it look better
Pretty car.

It looks like part28624 to me.
A nice set. Is this the first time that one of the Creator Expert/Icons cars reuse the same colour (red as on the Ferrari F40)?
Great to see this new type of windscreen. A shame about the light bluish gray, which should definitely have been at least silver metallic or pearl or something.
This is a fail to me. The real car has a subtle curve that goes from the front headlight to the door handle which is crucial to the feel of the car and is missing in the model. It should like a shortened version of the XKE front bumpers. I'm also not 100% on the shaping of the white side scoop, but it's less of a problem.
I got to assist with a rebuild of a 1963 so this is a must buy for me. I am a little disappointed with the sides looking flatter than the nice curves of the real thing (from the rear to the doors) but I do not know how they would have achieved that affect.

Me too - what is going on there? Is that a clear radar that is 1.5 studs wide on top of a 2x2 round tile with hollow stud? I can't tell what that is. A size in-between 1 stud and 2 studs wide clear headlight size would be ideal for a lot of vehicle builds!

I'm pretty sure it's a saucer piece: 38799 https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=38799&name=Minifigure,%20Utensil%20Tea%20Saucer%20with%20Hollow%20Stud%20on%20Top&category=%5BMinifigure,%20Utensil%5DT=C&C=1
Finally, I can own my own little red Corvette!
I really like this, even if it’s a smidge overpriced. I’ll definitely be keeping my eye out for any Target sales this fall, since they’re the only local retail outlet likely to carry it.
Not so sure yet. I would want to love this, but I feel Lego made it pretty hard for themselves by picking a C1 Corvette which has hardly any straight lines. They clearly put in some effort, but some things just can't be done. I think a C2 might have been the better choice.
But it is what it is, and at first glance it certainly isn't bad, just a bit odd. And leaving the roof off helps quite a lot.

70th Anniversary of the first Corvette to roll off the assembly line. It was built for the New York autoshow in 1953, which then led to production (obviously, or we probably wouldn't be here!).

Indeed, with the stud facing towards the car.
I’d pay $120.
Also, was hoping for another brand this time (Dodge Challenger?).
The back end is beautiful, but the front is too, well boxy.
If my MOCing skills were up to par, I'd try to modify this into Lola from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. I guess I'll have to keep this one stock and content myself with 76077. Pipe dreams notwithstanding (I'm nowhere near that good of a MOCist), I like this and am definitely planning to get it. It'll be nice to get a large-scale car with functional steering, as the only Creator Expert cars I have are 10252 and $10271, neither of which have functional steering. I also have 10298, but that's not a car, and it's steering is much simpler than that of one.

The headlights are an entirely new white-on-red printed piece, from the 2x2 Round Open Stud tile, together with that saucer piece.

Day one purchase for me. It's a corvette!!!! I just hope my husband doesn't think this will satisfy my need for one. I would love to see every model of corvette made.

You could just copy the mechanism from the Delorean as Lola’s switch to hover mode is a similar motion.
It would be nice as a "speed champions" small set.
I already have a diecast 1/18th Bburago replica of a very similar variant* of Corvette, albeit in light turquoise with white highlights.
Enough to satisfy my wants in that regard.
*Yes, it's not exactly the same since it's the 1957 variant without the double headlights, but close enough in my book.

Including the discount Ferrari that is the one with the engine in the back?
It’s for over 18’s so I can’t buy it.
Monday: $160 Himenji Castle announced
Tuesday: $100 Disney set announced
Wednesday: $550 Technic crown announced
Thursday: $200 Spiderman set announced
Friday: $150 Corvette set announced
That's quite a week.
I'm not loving the hard edges at the front corners, nor the hardtop version. Those aspects look terrible, IMO. The rest looks pretty good but with my Expert Vehicles collection outgrowing my available space I think I'll skip this this one.
Set record for least number of exposed studs per piece? Gotta be in the top 10
Wish this was in Speed Champions scale. We don't have a '61 at that scale.

Including other two-axle vehicles in the product line, 10220 VW Camper Van and 10258 London Bus are also red, although those aren't "cars."
The first VW Beetle, 10187, was primarily earth blue, which is the same color as 10265 Ford Mustang.
10300 DeLorean and 10262 Aston Maretin DB5 are both light bluish grey, but of course those are based on source material rather than Lego picking a particular color.
-----------
As for the cost, we have to consider the overall price increases that started in Summer 2022.
Sets that were at the $150 price point are now $170 (i.e., 10295 Porsche 911, 10265 Mustang), sets that were $170 are now $200 (10300 DeLorean), and sets that were $200 are now $240 (10274 Ecto-1, 75308 R2-D2, 75341 Landspeeder). Those increases set the stage for current price points, so those at $170 (21333 Starry Night, 75323 Justifier, 75365 Yavin 4) would have been $150, and $240 (75355 X-Wing) would have been $200.
This being $150 matches with the $130 of 10290 Pickup Truck, which has no associated licensing costs and did not receive a price increase.
I'm not defending the price increases at all, just pointing out that we need to compare this to the 130-then and 150-now sets rather than the 150-then sets such as the James Bond car, Mustang, and London Bus.
Don't like the hardtop, but the side view of the convertible is astonishingly curvy for something made out of Lego. I finally broke down and bought the Mustang and the Porsche, and this one might make three. Well, almost certainly will--but I'll have to watch for good GWP and all the usual ways of improving value for money before I let myself do it!
I'm suddenly singing a certain Prince song....
I have no idea why. ;-)
Also, I wonder who will be the first one to make a LOLA mod!
I'll wait for Speed Champion version
I was looking forward to seeing this, and now that it's here I'm not so sure I'll buy it. Something about that front end just looks off. I'll take some time and weigh my options.

It's clearly a C1. After 1957 since it has quad headlights. In fact, looking at the tail lights, it's got to be a 1961 model. Just as the press release states.
New half-arch parts on the top of the door insert!
Funny how most of the comments on the LEGO Himeji Castle was it being too expensive with 2125 pieces at $159.99. While this has only 1,210 pieces for $149.99 and most of the comments are yeah I like it, I'll get it. LEGO collectors are a funny bunch.

FWIW, I do think this is a bit overpriced, I just don't think that's the biggest issue with this set.
But not all parts are equal. Feels like you get quite a bit more bulk here, with some pretty unique pieces (windscreen!) and seems like several printed pieces too. Himeji seems like mostly pretty common tiny pieces, resulting in a rather small castle. I do very much like it and eventually (with a decent discount) I will surely buy it, but I have a much harder time to see the value there.
Oh, no! I like the Corvette - but sorry Lego, Your model does not work for me. I honestly think it looks terrible. There are worlds between this and the elegant lines of the original. Certainly wont buy it.
@PunSlinger:
Oh, hey, I think you're right about the headlights. Pretty cool, if true. The taillights...I'm not sure about. They look too shallow to be Barraki eyes, but I can't see how the bars would fit into the body of the car if they were long missiles (plus, the only element that you can really feed them through that deeply is the shooter itself).
@IgelCampus:
First gen, from 1961 (the second to last year of production for that body style). I'm not enough of a gearhead to be able to comment on how accurately they pulled it off, nor do I have any idea why they did a 1961 model of a body style that ran from 1954-1962. What I do know is that I'd have been a lot more excited if it was the split-window Stingray from the second gen run.
@TheMikeStrikesBack:
Ignoring any instances of studs that are visible through clear parts, studs that are poking out of notches, hollow/recessed studs that have bar parts inserted into the cavity, and studs that are not visible on the exterior body of the convertible build...I count five (just from what little I can see, there are probably at least twice as many inside the passenger compartment). And all of them are on the rear deck. And it would be very easy to eliminate all five of them without altering the body contours at all. The rear edge of the hardtop roof looks like it might have at least ten, which just looks bad in comparison.
@Zink:
It seems to be a red donut tile (2x2 round w/ large hole in the center) and an inverted clear tea saucer from 71033-9.
@minecraft_lego_mom:
They could totally skip the fourth gen body, as far as I'm concerned. That was a very boring design.
@ytjedi:
Some of the mosaics used 1x1 round tiles and only had 3 studs exposed at each corner. If you count the interior of even the convertible build, I think the mosaics still win. They definitely beat the hardtop build.
@shokwave2:
These days, accusations that the set is overpriced are more indicitive of fans' budget woes than the set actually being overpriced.

I understand that not all parts, or even sets, are equal. But sometimes smaller pieces cost more to make due to their design, shape, etc.
I guess value is personal and subjective to each collector/buyer. If a theme or set interests you, you're more likely to buy it no matter what the RRP is. For instance I love everything Japan/Japanese so Himeji Castle and Zen Garden are instant buys for me, day one purchases.
I feel like the Lego version of this car is too boxy compared to the actual version, and I feel like the creator didn't put enough effort into it to make it look its best. But I don't know, maybe it looks better in real life. but an amazing car tho would buy it if it was cheaper.
If Pixar had produced this for another outing of the the CARS franchise it would be perfect! The front looks like a joke rendition of the beautiful C1. That grille & lack of chromed parts also does it no favours. Who signed off on this?

I don't think so much in production cost, after all, that's for just a fraction of what we pay for. Once pieces get made in the millions if not billions and doesn't need any extra care, the actual cost per piece should be pretty close to zero. But pieces like the windscreen just will never be made in those numbers, which when factoring in the initial costs will make it a lot more expensive. And obviously I haven't seen the parts list, but just looking from the outside I just don't see many special or rare pieces on that Himeji set, except for two printed tiles for the name in both kanji and romaji.
And I think you can judge value somewhat objectively. A set I don't like can represent good value if it offers good pieces for the price, while a set that I do like can be not so great in this regard. My personal interest in the set will just be a factor in if I will het over that and buy it regardless.
I too am a huge Japan-fan (just returned from my 17th visit a few weeks ago), don't care much for that garden set but I'll surely get the Himeji set. Just like I also got the Tokyo skyline set despite it having some pretty glaring flaws I otherwise would have never overlooked. Himeji looks a lot better, but if I can save €40 or so by waiting a a bit, I'm totally fine with that. After all, I still have a bunch of Japanese inspired sets from Loz (generally about 800 pieces for €10 per set, now that's great value!) I haven't built yet :-)
Probably gonna get roasted but this model is a great rendition of a terrible looking car. Never been a fan of the 61 vette.

They didn’t. I just checked the text on LEGO.com, and it was Brit-washed before being posted here.
B.K.A. Lola Star of Disney-Marvel's smash hit TV series, "The Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D."!
I wish Lego would make a Creator Expert version of the McLaren F1.
That's a really, really difficult subject for a LEGO set. The shape of the C1 doesn't exactly lend itself well to bricks. The hard top is pretty atrocious, hard to see why they included it. The silver bananas are a nice touch, and the back looks great. It's just $50 more than it should be.
