Random set of the day: Bracelet
Posted by Huwbot,
Today's random set is 3900 Bracelet, released during 2000. It's one of 11 Scala sets produced that year. It contains 20 pieces.
It's owned by 61 Brickset members. If you want to add it to your collection you should find it for sale at BrickLink, where new ones sell for around $20.40, or eBay.

We've had some odd set images before, but I think this one is pretty high up the list. They couldn't just, I don't know, take a photo of the pieces?
This is what happens when your instructions image don't match the product. I know some people like the recent shift in instruction art for specialty sets, but like, match the instructions with the box art, I don't know why it needed to change. I get that for some of the specialty sets, they're trying to make it this premium product, but there are other ways to add flourishes without making it not look like LEGO or obfuscating what the actual product is. I don't know that without being told it's a Bracelet that I would actually know what kind of product this is from LEGO. Like yes, there's LEGO, there's Scala, but like, what is that thing making up the bulk of the image?
I don't know, maybe I'm just too old fashioned, slowly becoming the old man yelling at a cloud. Sad part is, I haven't even cracked 30 yet...
@Zordboy: At least Bricklink has an actual picture of the set.
^ Seems like 2x2 dishes, flower studs and small crystals on a band to me?

At only a few years over 30, I totally relate to the general sentiment. I do, however, still find it amusing that this particular cloud is actually quite close to you in age!
...Okay, even THAT part I can relate to.
Clickits Bracelet
where did they get the name "Scala" from.
Now THIS looks like modern art!
I beg your pardon?
Weird in the instructions there even is a kid posing with the Bracelet.
One of the rare sets with https://brickset.com/parts/design-28573 (and it's predecessor) in clear
Dots before we got Dots
I find this picture more pleasing to look at than the new modern art set.
@watcher21:
I was kinda wondering if that was the case, based on the box “art”. I got a bunch of those in years past, and one of the best uses I found for them was making jellyfish tentacles.

It means 'stairs', or 'staircase' in Latin.
I suppose because of dollhouses?
Sometimes 'ladder', a part of the ear or a programming language.
It gets weirder though. In 1979-1980 lego had a theme also named 'Scala' consisting of bracelets. Example: 312. That makes this set weirdly in line with the former theme. That's odd because 90s Scala was mainly dollhouses, as people who encountered My Dad could attest to!
Fun fact; the tiles from set 6601 Ice Cream Cart uses tiles from that theme, as 79-80 Scala used 2x2 tiles with prints. My example set above also uses it!
Another fun fact: the small Scala 'flower' 1x1s (part 33291, in trans-clear here) were still in production right up to and including 2020! Besides Friends sets it was memorably also used in Creator sets like 31026 Bike Shop & Café.
@Binnekamp:
I don’t think anyone who has encountered My Dad can attest to anything.
I meant 312-2 btw.
This Scala set is a sad reminder that Huwbot has been harsh on us, as we haven't had any Clikits sets since 7 May… Hopefully our god shows us some mercy in the near future…
I remember the Scala theme from the late Seventies as being strangely fascinating. Must have been all those cool printed tiles.

I like the Basic picture for the instructions now, it matches the inside of it.
