Random minifig of the day: njo384

Posted by ,

Today's random minifigure is njo384 Hutchins, a NINJAGO figure that came in one set, 70643 Temple of Resurrection, released during 2018.

Our members collectively own a total of 3,024 of them. If you'd like to buy one you should find it for sale at BrickLink, where new ones sell for around $5.40.

By in United States,

I haven't bought a ninjago set since Nia's spider mech, but some of the minifigs are so cool in design. NJO031 Zane ZX is one of my favorite minifigures of all time

By in United States,

Fun fact: in the original plans for season 8, Hutchins was going to come back as a red herring for the quiet one

Kinda' looks like he got dressed by Loki...the "classic version" of him anyway...

Ah, this era of Ninjago was...something...:D. I mean: Skeletons to Snakefolk, to Ningdroids, to...and eventually; Mad-Maxesce bikers...yeah, why not.:D.

With that shoulder piece, how does he fit through doorways? I’d say less dignified than he’d like.

At first glance, I thought it was Loki, then realized the horns were too small. (Also, Loki only wore an eyepatch when he was impersonating Odin, although I didn't really notice the patch until I'd realized my mistake.)

As they say about meeses (Muppets used it! It’s a legitimate pluralization!), if the head fits, the rest will follow. It’s really the helmet that tells you if you should maybe duck and back up.

Going to be honest, seeing a Ninjago character who looked like that I was not expecting the name “Hutchins”

By in Netherlands,

Can't we have a "Vintage minifig of the week"? Just looked through the RMotD for the last two months, the oldest ones are a few from 2014....we're missing out on almost 4 decades of minifigs....

Yeah, doesn’t exactly fit the aesthetic, does it? Then again, later seasons of Ninjago seem to have established a sort of equivalent to the British Empire within the mythos, so maybe Hutchins’ name is an indication of colonial influence?

Royalty is always evil in ninjago.

Not this guy though.

" @WizardOfOss : @Huw explained this in the very first RMotD article: https://brickset.com/article/93091/random-minifig-of-the-day-coltlbm17 If you'll excuse the shameless plug, I've got a User Suggestion for expanding that; it's Suggestion Number 757."

Ah okay, that at least explains. And I guess the rather strong bias for more recent years within that range is just the result of how many minifigs Lego is releasing nowadays.

And wasn't even aware we had these User Suggestions here......you got 6 supporters now!
(and maybe I could add one myself for a "random vintage part of the week"....)

By in South Korea,

Not gonna lie, when I scrolled past this guy on the main page without looking I thought he was a Loki variant for a sec.

By in Australia,

I love this one!
The character got too little screen time though...

Yay, thanks Huw! :D Looking forward to some of my old childhood favourites eventually getting to be featured ^^

...and also some of the weirdest and wackiest faces from the early 2000s, too!

Any chance of removing the minimum year filter for the VSotW so the prehistoric sets get a look in!

@Huw: Thank you so much! Be interesting to see what the first pre-2010 minifig selected is...

How do we know this guy isn't a Loki variant? He disappeared into thin air almost as soon as he arrived, so we will never know for sure...

I just want to attach a bucket to his head :-)

Funny how that works out, isn’t it? You expect a character like this, exclusive to a large, expensive set, to be fairly prominent and have prolific appearances in the storyline. But it doesn’t always happen that way. Sushimi from 71712 and Glutinous from 71755 are in the same boat as ol’ Hutchins here.

I can't believe they killed him and two other named characters in a terrorist bombing which likely killed hundreds in addition to them. In a Lego show.
