Random set of the day: Fire Spinner 360

Today's random set is 8669 Fire Spinner 360, released during 2006. It's one of 23 Racers sets produced that year. It contains 113 pieces, and its retail price was US$10/£6.99.
It's owned by 970 Brickset members. If you want to add it to your collection you should find it for sale at BrickLink, where new ones sell for around $10.00, or eBay.

I note the lack of fire, however, it seems to be making up the difference with a great deal of spinning.
Ah, the good ol' graphic design (packaging and stickers) that made it almost impossible to determine what you were actually buying. Ninjago has been like this, off and on.

Got a Racers set, a Racers minifigure, and the part of the day has probably been used in at least one Racers set. Nifty stuff.

My eyes hurt when I try to look at it.
For anyone that has this, can you set the angle of the front wheels, charge up the motor, set it down and watch it spin? If so, I would have liked that as a kid. And today.
I was never into the "racers" theme as most of the builds were not minifigure scale.

Many of these racers sets were nonsensical, but I do miss them. 8380 was always one of my favorites.

Well, you know spinning is always a good trick.
I have no memory of this set whatsoever. I remember other Racers sets of the time, not that I bought any of them, but 2006 wasn't exactly a year Star Wars was killing it either and there were other things to look at in the LEGO Shop @Home Catalog, but this is not familiar in the slightest.
I had this - love that buying it new is the same price as it was 17 years ago and that used is almost half that.
Ah yes. The 2006 wave had four 'Power Racers', each with their own gimmick. I've built this one a few times to try it out. The back wheels are hard plastic frictionless wheels, I believe from Znap. At the pull-back motor end. I never got it to actually wind up with those wheels there, so I'd highly advise you to switch the front and back wheels.
The front wheels can actually be angled and stay in that angle, so you can also just set them to drive straight.
I'm not a car person so this isn't for me, but these were neat.
So uhm... I have two of these. Nobody wants to buy them... XD

No dice. Someone noted that RPotD is the new MABS plastic, which they didn’t start using until years after Racers ended as a theme.

So you can do a “360” by circumnavigating the globe? Guess @Brickalili was wrong (I just watched The Great Race last night, after seeing a screen-used Leslie Special beforehand, where they do a road race from NYC to Paris, France).

We need the cars from The Great Race as Lego sets. That, and the Wacky Racers cartoon cars they inspired.

I know a few people have made Wacky Races MOCs, but I feel like I’ve seen at least one Great Race MOC (and I didn’t remember even hearing about the film until I read the info card they put next to one of the five screen-used Leslie Specials).
