Bricklist notes: My first LEGO Harry Potter set that I worked on as designer! Nico Vas was supposed to design this set, and I was supposed to design 11022 Space Mission for Classic, but we decided to swap products to experience new design challenges :)
FUN FACTS:
- Near the end of the development of this model, I had the opportunity to visit the real filming location for Grimmauld Place in London! No images of the street online showed the chimneys or TV antennas of the building, so I was super pleased that seeing them in real-life allowed me to accurately represent them on this model.
- The minifigures and graphics were designed beautifully by Peter Kjaergaard, who had lots of fun drawing all the tiny faces of the Black family tree, and creating the first ever minifigure version of Kreacher the House Elf!

Bricklist notes: The second LEGO Harry Potter set I worked on as a designer! I always wanted the original set based on this scene, 4762 Rescue from the Merpeople, but was never lucky enough to own it - so was super excited to get to work on this new version. Also having lived in Brighton, England, for several years I am very fond of Victorian seaside architecture, so loved bringing the Victorian-style observation deck into LEGO bricks for the first time.
FUN FACT:
- We really wanted to pay homage to set 4762 when designing this set: the minifigure lineup is identical; the crab in colour 191 makes a return; the heightened colour-scheme of the underwater section was maintained; and although completely unintentional, the product number contains all the same digits as the original!

Bricklist notes: Dobby is free! We had tried many times before to build a brick-built version of Dobby, but they always didn't quite capture the character properly. One day I decide to take a different approach: instead of trying to accurately copy what Dobby looked like I just tried to build how I remembered his personality, and everyone loved the result!
FUN FACT:
- The pieces used for the top of Dobby's head and his mouth were all created for Disney's Cars line, however were both already recoloured into 283 Light Nougat for 10280 Flower Bouquet!

Bricklist notes: One of my first ever LEGO sets was the 2001 #4708 Hogwarts Express, which I received for my 5th birthday. So when I eventually joined the LEGO Group, my dream set to work on would be a new version of the Hogwarts Express - and I was lucky enough to be able to do so this year!
FUN FACTS:
- Due to popular demand, this is the first LEGO Hogwarts Express set to include 2 carriages! This is also the first time that the carriages have had grey roofs rather than black: fresh out of the paint shop the real carriages would have grey roofs that would get darker through time due to the soot in the smoke. As the scene this set depicts is early in the franchise and set in the daylight, we chose to have grey roofs.
- As a big train fan my whole life, there are a number of features I put extra thought into: this is the first time a playset version of the Hogwarts Express has included six wheels; I discovered that the City roof element 32739 fits perfectly round the drive wheel elements, meaning the top of the flanges are accurately covered; and the smoke box door is no longer made using a decorated 4x4 dish but is instead brickbuilt, so users can remove the "Hogwarts Express" headboard if they wish.
- Shoutout to graphic designer Peter for making all the new decorations, minifigures and stickers. Exciting highlights include: Lee Jordan represented in minifigure form for the first time; brand new decorated elements for the Galleon coin and and Chocolate Frog package; and a sticker showing a map of the British Isles!

Bricklist notes: Ever since the release of 75978 Diagon Alley, fans have been asking for the Gringotts Bank expansion to the street, but we couldn't figure out how to do it due to need to be built on baseplate but also have a cart system underneath it. One day myself and Nico Vas were working on our LEGO Classic sets 11027 and 11028 and talking about how a LEGO Gringotts could work, when I suggested we simply make it big enough that we could build around a baseplate suspended in the air. I built a 1/4 scale model of my idea, pitched it to the LEGO Harry Potter team and next thing I knew we were developing the full-size model! I teamed up with Justin Ramsden on the model design of this one - truly an expert in designing giant LEGO models.
FUN FACT:
- This isn't the first time a LEGO baseplate has been suspended off the ground in an official product (3538 Snowboard Boarder Cross Race and 3850 Meteor Strike both did it before us) but it definitely is the highest!)

We wanted to create a Gift With Purchase set that simultaneously enhanced the Gringotts experience if you owned the big set, but also gave you a self-contained experience if you didn't have the big set. That's how we ended up with this vault expansion.
FUN FACT:
- This set works as a money bank to store all your precious coins. To learn more about previous LEGO money banks, we carefully studied 40155 Piggy Coin Bank from 2015. To honour that set's glorious red brickiness, we included a red 2x4 brick hidden in this set.

Bricklist notes: We were deep into developing all of the Harry Potter sets for the March 2024 release when we got a special surprise that we could make one extra set, which is where this set came from! We had produced so many magical creatures over the years and thought it could be fun to include several of them together in one set, like a battle-pack. The build is separated into 5 modular sections so you can arrange your Forbidden Forest in your own way, and I was very happy to be able to depict the forest in the blue colour-scheme as it looks in the movie.
FUN FACT:
- This set contains two new and exclusive creatures: a winking Cornish Pixie and a glow-in-the-dark spider, plus a light blue spider's web!

Bricklist notes: We were very excited when the technology team proposed the possibility of a new sound brick element to us, and in the Harry Potter we knew that should go in a model of the Sorting Hat. It was a very difficult challenge to back so much function into such a small space (the eyebrows, mouth, tip of the hat and the sound brick all activate when pushed from the bottom) but we were very happy with the result.
FUN FACTS:
- The scale of the hat was chosen to align somewhat with the Helmet Collection in Star Wars and Super Heroes, but also so that the hat would be compatible with the giant Minifigures in 76393 Harry Potter and Hermione Granger.
- The Sorting Hat has one very special phrase hidden inside it, you may hear it the very first time you try it on, and you may not hear it after hundreds of uses. You'll just have to listen closely for yourselves.
- This set contains an exclusive Harry Potter Minifigure designed by Peter which features a new face where his eyes are closed ("Not Slytherin! Not Slytherin!") as well as the Sorting Hat element in 192 Reddish Brown for the first time!
