The first set I ever made for Creator Expert! I inherited a concept version of this car from Morten Graff-Wang who had done the initial design for the new windscreen element.

There were a lot of challenges to get this model working right. The biggest sense of relief I ever felt though was when I discover how well the 2x2 plate with combi hinge on top worked to hold on the side 'rails' of the car. What a lifesaver!!

This model has a lot of CURVES in it!!!
This was a very difficult shape to capture in Lego. I was lucky enough that we were able to make the new arch piece that we used on the wheels of this car in order to capture some of the roundness of the original beetle.

I got to make a modular building! We wanted to do something really crazy after the 10 years anniversary of the modular buildings, and I think this fits the bill pretty well. Carl made the stovetop hood, I made it buildable. Teamwork at its best!

Making the functions in this car was so much fun! I spent the most time on the ejector seat. We made at least 4 different working versions before we had the one that we liked best. I like to joke that the 4th 'bonus' number plate 'JB 007' is for my design manager and creative lead of the creator expert project Jamie Berard but he will tell you it stands for 'James Bond'.

This is the car I'm MOST proud of (so far ;)). I worked on this model together with Adam Grabowski, a fellow model designer, and Mani Zamani, the designer of the new rim and 2x8 brick with bow.

I'm super excited that we were able to implement steering (thanks to the new rim design). I spent a lot of time working to get the front bumper and doors working and looking the way I want them.

Overall I think this is the most beautiful car we've ever made. It's a pretty good car to translate to Lego, but we also really put a lot of work into getting it just right.

This was a model FIVE YEARS in the making. At least, 4 years in talking about and 1 year in making. My good friend and colleague Carl had been telling me (and anyone who would listen) how great of a LEGO model a H-D motorcycle would make, so after enough reminders I figured it was time we make one.

Mani the element designer created the new rim and tire for this model. Together we came up with the clever solution of doubling the rim in order to make the wide rear wheel.

GLOOOORY GLOOOORY MAN UNITED.

After making this model I now love football and especially Manchester United. I made 2 trips to Old Trafford over the course of this model's development and I have grown to love this incredible construction with all of its quirks and history.

We managed to use the new elements developed for the FIAT 500 in this model which I think goes to show how nice those elements are.
