Random minifig of the day: 4j005

Posted by ,

Today's random minifigure is 4j005 Dr. Octopus (Otto Octavius) / Doc Ock with Grabber Arms (Junior-fig), a For Juniors figure that was first produced during 2004. It can be found in 2 sets.

Our members collectively own a total of 1,486 of them. If you'd like to buy one you should find it for sale at BrickLink, where new ones sell for around $6.90.

The 4 juniors minifigures were weird and creepy. [speaking from experience owning 3 sets]

Whoa. Whoa whoa whoa

As 4+ sets go, this figure is faithful to the character. I also liked the Pirates line they had at around this time. Even though these are in the same 1-pc fig category as Jack Stone, they are well made and durable.

If he wanted to grab Jack or Tina and throw them around, I would look the other way.

That's a very dynamic photo, though, I like it.

Are those … fingers? And an opposing LEGO claw thumb? I think I have at least one Jack Stone figure somewhere. Time for an investigation. Although I’m not sure that I want to know the answer.

@DavidSkyroller: I was already thinking I wouldn't mind having this figure, and your comment has actually made me definitely want it. Or at least the arms.

I think 4+ sets look stupid, but their use of standard Minifigures instead of these things is a massive improvement in and of itself.

Remember *checks notes* when *checks notes* anything else was RMotD? Good times…

Are those actually the same mould as Jack Stone?

The fiugures not being made of mix and match pieces wasa mistake. I actually liked them.

I wonder if the respective Spider-Man would appear in the Spider-verse movies

By in Netherlands,

I think this is unironically the best 4plus style figure. The arms look very tactile and the figure looks accurate.

Of course, this style of figure is not a minifigure and must therefore be burned by the AFOL community. So ehm... I'll grab the unstable nuclear reactor to throw on him in the New York harbor. Burning AND drowning is the only way to be sure!

If they did, they'd call it "Kre-o"

For certain they’d never call it Built 2 Rule. Not again, at least.

Yes and no. The legs are, the head is, the hair seems to be. But the torso is unique to this figure because it has a technic pin in the back. And the arms are updated from the 2001 design, as Jack Stone himself couldn't move his hands.

Fun fact: the first Hagrid figure from 2001 uses Jack Stone arms. The second Hagrid from 2004 uses this style of 4 Plus arms. The third one from 2010 uses what seems to be a unique mould. As does the fourth from 2018, which uses Technic pins I believe.
