LEGO teases Fortnite collaboration
Posted by CapnRex101,In 2022, LEGO announced a partnership with Epic Games, the developers of Fortnite. News of the collaboration has since been rather slow.
However, LEGO has now published a teaser featuring the Supply Llama, so presumably there will be more news to come imminently. This model of the Supply Llama is clearly digital, although one wonders whether there will be physical products released too.
Are you a Fortnite player, and what would you like to see from the collaboration? Let us know in the comments.

Aw hell naw, I remember the announcement talking about "Metaverse"
FNAF collab when?
No way bro
We got a Number One Victory Royale
Yeah, Fortnite, we 'bout to get down (get down)
Ten kills on the board right now
Just wiped out Tomato Town
My friend just got downed
I revived him, now we're heading south-bound
Now we're in the Pleasant Park streets
Look at the map, go to the marked sheet
Seems like everything is teaming up with Fortnite these days. The place is becoming more of a fantasy kitchen sink than Narnia…which I’m sure will be getting it’s own Fortnite package at some point
Considering the LEGO Overwatch collab succes, this must be a winner... right?
Hoping for a Battlebus set!
I can't wait to Lego to acquire the Halo license from Mega
As what feels like one of the few people in the small overlap between AFOLs and Fortnite Players, I welcome this collaboration with open arms, provided it's not more of an indication that Epic is trying to pull Fortnite away from its Battle Royale foothold. Epic needs to learn to stick to their bread and butter.
As for sets, I'd love to see how they'd tackle a Battle Bus set, and while I know it's a long shot, I'd love to see official minifigs of my favorite new characters; The Ageless Champion and Kado Thorne.
I'm also partial to both Lego and Fortnite. In my limited time playing Fortnite I've seen tons of 'collabs' on screen which are essentially just other franchises, products or personality appearing as character skins in the game. For bigger past collabs like Star Wars or Transformers the game temporarily included new weapon types, locations and missions. This kind of in-game collab with Lego seems to me much more likely than a full theme of Fortnite Lego sets. If we do get some new Lego, the minifigures could be brilliant as Fortnite is known for it's outlandish characters and for combining wildly different visual styles in a mix and (mis)match system. Seems perfect for Lego.
Rumours about a complete Lego-map where you play as lego figures.
No. Just no.
It's also worth noting that Fortnite is going to get a patch that restricts some of the more risque skins, I guess this has something to do with getting into Lego's good grades?

Don't buy it. The same way you probably don't buy Duplo or Friends.
It’s a dumb financial relief when any area of upcoming Lego production becomes unattractive.
hey remember when LEGO was so anti-violence Bionicle characters' weapons were very consistently called 'tools'?
good times, good times

First reaction was nope, but you have a point.
Curious to see how Lego handles this video game ip, perhaps minidolls instead minifigures.
It’s interesting to see a collab like this, considering that Fortnite has some weapons that appear to just be stylized versions of real-life firearms. If LEGO does go ahead with this, I certainly hope we get some sets based around more violent Star Wars games like Republic Commando or Jedi: Fallen Order.
Do I give a crap about Fortnite--no. .
However, they have some of the most unique characters in videogames, and I can't wait to see how they turn out in minifig form. As a collector of Western action figures, I recently added Calamity; and I've been trying hard to resist the 6" ones for bargain prices at discount stores. Peely especially.

Yeah and they used to have a policy against making sets based on shooters.
I don't mind bending the rules a bit but they only do it for IPs. Why can't we get some architecture sets of some religious buildings with historical significance? Why was the osprey cancelled? Etc . . .

Times change.
I would assume that a lot of younger gamers play Fortnite (I know my teenage son has in the past) so a tie up with Lego doesn't seem that much of an issue.
That said it seems to me that it will be Lego in the game rather than actual Fortnite based sets.
I mean, I absolutely hate Fortnite, but not for the common reasons. I mostly hate it, because it was the cause, why Epic pulled out all developers from Unreal Tournament 4. I will never forgive the game for this.
Gonna keep an open mind about this. It may result in more video game IPs getting themes in the future.
Tho sadly not UT4. I see no universe, where Lego would do that out of several reasons lol.
This may just be ingame content with Lego branding instead of a whole theme tho.

My son mentions that it also will be a mode to play in. The files in last download were checked and there seems to be LEGO content in the game for future use.
Speaking as somebody who has built physical versions of game models from LEGO Universe and Legends of Chima Online -- that Supply Llama has impossible connections. The LEGO-official games were fairly insistent about the plausibility of the models (apart from Q-part hues and flexible kinematics and a giant spider in Minifigs Online) but this degree of casual "just arrange the elements for aesthetics" feels like a third party.

I’m fairly certain there was a leaked image of the physical model from the instructions too.
Fortnite is knockoff Hunger Games! VIVA LA MINECRAFT!!!
Oh please lord, no. Don't collaborate with something so harmful and destructive as predatory monetization of children who will bully each other for not buying randomized digital clothes.

|Seems like everything is teaming up with Fortnite these days
It's because Fortnite is (thankfully) imploding, so they're entering into all these "partnerships" to advertise it, to try to resuscitate it.
Annnd I’ll be broke come 2024
You were supposed to destroy the sith, not join them!
I got into Fortnite relatively recently and am excited for whatever collab they come up with. I agree with a lot of posters about the potential for some cool minifigs based off of Fortnite characters, though it's also possible for this to be fun even if it's an entirely in-game collaboration.
I started with computers with the zx80 - so i am more of a computer guy than a TV guy. Despite all the fantastic TV sets Lego did recently: Transformer, Back to the future, Ghostbusters, Hocus Pocus, etc., I definitely prefer the Horizon Zero Dawn/Forbidden West (retiring this year) 76989 and Piranha Plant 71426 sets. I also got a few Overwatch sets (75975 and 75970) even thought I have no interest whatsoever (pretty much deep hatred) for games with micro-transactions (enough micros can easily become macro). So, even if I have never played the game (most likely never will) I am looking forward for these sets and see which one will tick my fancy. As always: also a potential source of new parts or part recolours.
Oh Lordy - the End times are a-coming.
Ole Kirk preserve us - please return us to the days of yore, when the most violence we'd see in Lego-related videogames was Chewbacca ripping a poor stormtroopers arms off. This is a travesty, and abomination, and a desperate cry that Lego or Fortnite (or both!), are trying to stay relevant in our fast-paced world. What next, LEGO Modern Warfare game? Or how about Grand Theft Auto sets?
Where does this madness end?
Does anyone properly play fortnite (On a level they would buy merchandise) apart from "Twitch streamers" and teens? I don't play it, but I think sets (If there are any) could have cool pieces, but I don't see a large market for it. Is fortnite still relevant? I know that they had a big boost in players recently, but that was only because of an old map returning, but does it have a stable player base?
I’m almost in college and I haven’t even touched Fortnite, mainly because my parents don’t want me to play it because of all the issues it’s had in the recent years. I do however play Apex which is INCREDIBLY BORING. If anything I spend most of my time playing Minecraft, Portal, and the 2003-2010 Aspyr star wars games.
If anything we need a Lego Minecraft skin or mashup pack or texture pack.
I know Valve can be incredibly lazy and doesn’t normally collaborate on partnerships but can we please get a Portal set that’s not a Dimensions level pack?!

I've never played Fortnite, and I used to play Overwatch religiously. I'm bummed that deal fell apart. But the Overwatch collaboration fell apart because of Activision-Blizzards sexual harassment accusations. Overwatch has never, and will never be as popular as Fortnite is. I'm sure this will do much better than the Overwatch colab went.

I mean, in general it pulls a ton of money from young impressionable kids who feel like they have to spend $15 for a skin because it's "cool". At the same time to support such a massive GaaS (Games as a Service) they have to pull devs that could be working on other projects.
One day Fortnite will be dead and those that spent hundreds of dollars on "V-bucks" will see everything they purchased fade into oblivion. The game will no longer exist and all the massive amounts of developer resources that went into it will leave almost nothing behind.
It's an overall drain on society IMO

That ship sailed with Lego 2K Racer. Horrible monetization as well.
I sorta get that Fortnite is (was?) big with kids, but it feels very off-brand for Lego if not outright antithetical to the values TLG claims to have.
The biggest toy company in the world should show some scruples when choosing who to partner with. I think they can afford to say no more.
Please Brickset, please. Its called April Fools right, not November Fools. This better be a prank.

Exactly. Is this really considered "fantasy violence"? Where is the line? Fortnite is essentially an urban warfare sim. Or thats all my 13yo plays it for.
I personally don’t like it. Fortnite’s core attraction and purpose is shooting. LEGO has been relatively good about shying away from PURELY violent content, making sure that themes/IPs that are heavy on violence also have more to offer, but Fortnite has no other depth than shooting for shooting’s sake.
Yes, I know there are deeper “lore” elements in Fortnite, but even as a player of Fortnite, it’s obvious to me that they are tacked on, and don’t represent, or in my opinion even support, the core mechanic: shooting people.
Here are some of the Grand Theft Auto from Lego for the last 10 years: (some are weaker than other but still...)
2023: 60392
2022: 60314
2021: 60276
2020: 60242
2019: 60208
2018: 60172
2017: 60137, 60135, 60138, 60140
2016: 60128
2015: 60070, 60071
2014: 60042
They can probably re-release 76200 with Bro-Thor playing Fortnite, but now with a Lego Thor skin that becomes a real thing in Fortnite. Then Disney can re-release Endgame on Blueray with the screen edited to reflect this.
I will only buy sets if they have a myriad of Disney/Marvel/Unique Figures together.
Really excited for the Thanos v Vader v Banana set XD!

So true! I'd never thought of it that way... maybe my imagination died in the '90s :D
(and 60071 is BONKERS)
I play, and really enjoy, Fortnite.
That said, this doesn't feel like great brand compatibility... Fortnite feels similarly out of line to LEGO's values as (pardon me saying so) the V-22 Osprey. Yes, Epic Games is trying very hard to remake/rebrand Fortnite as not "just" a battle royale game, but that's what it is at its core. As much as I enjoy both LEGO and Fortnite, it doesn't feel like a great match, and I'm surprised it's happening.
Or, more accurately, I was surprised that the LEGO Overwatch collaboration happened, and I suppose it makes sense this is next... and they are "fantasy" violence, and not at all realistic, which I suppose is the justification. Anyway... I suppose the best path is probably to choose to be excited, since I do enjoy both!
This mainly will have to do with the LEGO game mode they are introducing inside Fortnite soon, which is way more rumoured to be like Minecraft, and not Battle Royale.
If what merchandise we already have is any indication, I think the decision to do a Fortnite range would be unwise.
I've seen the original 4-inch Jazwares figures from 3-4 years ago going for MSRP still sealed on the card--only got Calamity as I mostly only collect Western figures (and first responders). Hasbro's range didn't sell well, and from what I saw at Ollie's, they are not moving great even at the 50% plus percent off they have them for.
Turns out Epic is just developing a Lego-themed Minecraft Clone.
At this point Lego has thoroughly jumped the shark and nuked the fridge, guess all they have left is selling out to more licen$ced $hit.

I feel like I'm the only one who is excited for this. Seems everyone who sees anything to do with Fortnite immediately jumps on the hate train... Lighten up yall.
While I'm not much for Fortnite these days.... yes. The weapons would be fantastic.
Worst news for today.
The Vidiyo figures REALLY remind me of the sort of thing you see in Fortnite.
I quite like Fortnite, though I limit myself to playing the occasional season is it's a bit morish.
This is just the beginning of the collaboration!

1) I refuse to support (read: buy) licensed Lego themes, so I'm saddened that my options seem to be decreasing each year. I dislike that so much effort is being put towards these licenses instead of original concepts. I don't believe pre-existing licenses are as creatively stimulating for children as original stories.
2) The game Fortnite features what are essentially carbon-copies of real-life assault firearms. So either Lego needs to get off their high horse and admit that they don't care about violence, or they should not make toys based off of a game whose sole purpose is to shoot another person.
Ironically, I remember several Portal and Metroid projects back on Cussoo (Ideas beta) that were removed because "the Lego company will not make products based on a shooter video game". So games with a rich lore, story and exploration where you happen to occasionally shoot things? Na, too violent. Cartoon game where you get to shoot people for a "chicken dinner"? Totally appropriate for children. *Eyeroll*
3) Even if we set aside the blatant hypocrisy surrounding violence, Fortnite isn't even a good game. I've played Fortnite and guess what? It is an absolutely *average* game. I don't think it's amazing, I don't think it's trash, it's. just. boring. (From a gameplay perspective) Do I think that parents should absolutely be monitoring their kids and not letting their 9-year-olds play it? Absolutely. But that's a problem with parenting, not the game. Do I think SaaS products are predatory in general and not worth your money? Absolutely. Though that is a problem with software as a whole these days. Bottom line, it is shockingly average, and Lego doesn't deserve average.
So yeah, I'll absolutely jump on the hate train thank you very much. Lego fans deserve better.
