City Advent Calendar - Day 6
Posted by MeganL,Yesterday we had a small build with a goal and a trophy. All of the builds so far have been intended for an outdoor scene, though there are some indoor sections on the mat. Will door 6 give us something for inside, or will we be staying outdoors?
We're decidedly outdoors with an ice sculpture! I love all of the clear blue pieces used for this build, perched on top of a pile of snow. I have to admit, I first thought this might be a duck, but that doesn't quite work for the season. A penguin seems much more likely!
Another nice build, with the bonus of having the transparent blue pieces.
A quick note on Day 4, with the hockey player - there was a puck included, which didn't make the picture. I blame the new packaging that LEGO has for advent calendars. When I first assembled the daily builds, I placed them all back in their spots, then carried the box to my photography station. However, since the packaging this year has cardboard partitions as opposed to the trays of previous years, the puck managed to escape its part of the box, and I failed to notice when taking the picture later.

You know, this probably was meant to be a robin, or maybe some kind of Christmas dove of peace or something ...
... but, to me, this is clearly a minifig's ice sculpture tribute to the emperor penguin Dreadflipper, scourge of Antarctica on his blood-drenched throne. And I love it for that reason.
And I know these things are designed and produced, years in advance, but I would love it if this was a direct reference to the fun, we had, with last year's Friends calendar. That would be neat.
Definitely a penguin!
I don't know what this is with Mr Freeze and the Penguin making collabs, but they sure made a great effigy of our overlord Dreadflipper.
Wait, that previous collaboration was from another calender. Then what is-
*is attacked by a living ice penguin of the apocalypse
I need Dreadflipper lore....
Wait, why is the sky turning blood red???
Nice use of the Chima crystal. Also, I wondered how long the Advent Countdown would go before someone made a Dreadflipper reference, and not just one, but three (Edit: four) commenters (so far) have made one on the same day! Never change, Brickset commenters.
"Kowalski! Analysis?"
This could be the work of Oswald Cobblepot or Victor Fries, either way I think we need a Batman
That's a cool build.
Long live Dreadflipper!
Gotta be a penguin—it looks to be the same build as the penguin minions from the Batman theme back in the day.
The rest of the structure is puzzling me, but it still looks alright.
For my nephews/nieces and the Sunday School, I've been writing a series of devotional videos based on the Lego City Advent Calendar. Each day, Murph the Surf opens a door and reveal a Lego build that inspires me to reflect on God’s love and creativity. There might be a few bricksetters that would enjoy or use something like this. Here's today's episode. https://youtu.be/GhG44TmfYSo

I promise not to!
Unless, of course, I'm devoured by a giant Lovecraftian apocalyptic ice penguin.
You'd be surprised how often I write that sentence. It's more than you'd think.

Whoa, I always presumed the Apocalypse would be scorching hellfire; especially since teperatures are rising and all...
*checks theme*
Who crashed into the fire hydrant? Or is the hockey player’s slap shot just that powerful that it can cleanly sever a hydrant from its mounting collar?
@Brickalili:
Even when there’s already a Batman, we always need a Batman.
@jkb:
You must not have ever had to read Dante’s Inferno in school.
The mystery of the puck has been solved!
And a nice little build today. Best one of the day so far.
@PurpleDave we mostly read German stuff, which is a hell on its own.
In English, we also didn't read Italian books.
I bet the next build of the calendar will be something to sacrifice to this glorious shrine of Blood Emperor Dreadflipper.
If not, we are all surely doomed.

How many nickels would you have though?
Let it go! Let it go! That song was stuck in my head for years...

The bird is clearly an ice sculpture in honor of the "Bird of the Century", the puteketeke.

The “puke-a…” Tell you what, I’m going to stop right there before we all get in trouble.

John Oliver would be proud, and talk very very loud about it.
