City Advent Calendar - Day 10
Posted by MeganL,Yesterday's carolling minifig was perfect for the season, and I like how the winter scene is coming together. Most of our builds have been focused on the outside, so I think we're due for having a build to place on the indoor sections of the mat.
One can argue this can be placed inside or outside! This is a very cosy looking hearth. I like the use of the trans clear orange and yellow pieces to show a roaring fire. The rest of the hearth makes good use of reddish brown and medium nougat pieces.
As with the lamppost, I think this build could be enhanced if there was something that suggested the season, such as stockings, or some festive decorations.

It's the fireplace the One Ring was thrown into to show the poem hidden on it! Although I might point out its size, remember that this is from a Hobbit, so it's perfectly sized actually!
That said... they could have included the ring here y'know.
But will it fit the interior of *any* set released in 2023?

Now you've done it. People will want a LotR calendar next year. I'm one of them. Aragon in a Christmas jumper with Gimli's knitted face? Yea Please!
@Ridgeheart
Oh no, is this more lore I'm going to have going on in my head. I've already canonised DreadFlipper

"You have to consider the logistics here, even when - falsely - assuming that the person or entitity making its way down this incredibly narrow chimney ISN'T a murder-penguin who can melt and reconstitute his form at will.
I mean, would it be better if it WERE Santa? Because in that case, there's a non-zero chance that Santa is a T-1000 Terminator. Please, this... this season is so cold, so dark. Let me believe that old Saint Nick isn't a robot-assassin sent from the future, just for one more year. We all need this."

I didn't know what a hearth is, but seems it is a fireplace. :)

Traditionally, the hearth is not just a normal fireplace. It is the primary fireplace of a home, and often doubled as a way to cook food prior to the invention of modern kitchen appliances. In colder months, the household might gather around the hearth since it would likely be the warmest part of the house.
@Ridgeheart: "I'll be back... next Christmas."
@Ridgeheart and @PurpleDave: As for/to the Santa-chimney 'thing', all I can add/suggest is: watch "Violent Night" from last year...yes, it's "Die Hard" w/Santa as John McClain; buuuut....it's also reeeeally fun, and has some fun visuals for the 'chimney thing', and even Santa's sack (not an innuendo :))...in fact on the latter, it makes me wonder: If his bag can really do that...why does he need a workshop...or the elves for that matter...:|(:D)
